Finance/Office Manager needed for a small (approx 20 person) professional services firm located in downtown Chicago! We are a highly entrepreneurial consulting organization that focuses on Strategic Talent Management, including executive-level assessment, coaching and development, and succession planning. Duties include responsibility for all financial operations and general office management of the firm. Reports directly to the managing partner. Pay will correspond with experience level. Accounting functions include but are not limited to:
Recording cash receipts
Payables & receivables
Tracking and reporting all expenses
Payroll
Liaison with external accounting firm
Maintaining general ledger
Month-end closings
Preparing annual budget
Analyzing and interpreting financial data and preparing financial reports, statements and/or projections
Ensuring that appropriate checks and balances are put into place for all financial transactions
Collecting outstanding invoices from clients
Creating policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence to financial rules
Arranging financial protections as needed
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Administering the human resources function of the firm, including 401K plan and group health insurance
Overseeing a staff of 4 administrative professionals who assist with maintenance of accounts receivable and accounts payable
Troubleshooting technology-related issues (e.g., PC problems, network issues, videoconferencing equipment failure, blackberry issues, website maintenance)
Managing all vendor relationships and negotiating vendor contracts
Key skills/characteristics required:
At least 5-7 years of highly relevant experience; professional services background preferred
Strong business analytics, especially regarding trend analysis and fiscal management
Attention to detail and quality control
Exceptional communication skills; articulate; able to provide clear and cogent recommendations to partners
Self-motivated and able to work well with minimal direction; comfortable with ambiguity
Proactive; constantly working to improve internal processes
Heavy workload; good at multi-tasking
Bachelors degree required
Proficient in Quickbooks
