Job Description:
The sole function and responsibility of the Staff Accountant is to assist the CFO with all daily Accounting functions. The Staff Account will help prepare for the monthly general ledger close, balance sheet and income statement analysis, and balance sheet and income statement presentation. The Staff Accountant is also responsible for the performance analysis and presentation of each assigned business entity. The Staff Accountant will be an integral part of helping the Company grows its infrastructure. The Staff Accountant reports directly to the CFO.

This job description is intended to summarize the overall level of responsibility of the job and is not an exhaustive list of all the duties performed.

Essential Functions of the Position:
• Involved in all facets of the Accounting department.
• Primary responsibility is to prepare financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule.

• Work closely with the CFO to ensure monthly close is complete and production of financial statements.
• Analyze revenues, commissions and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis.

• Prepare monthly account reconciliations.

• Assist with analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis and report on variances.

• Assist with financial and tax audits.

• Assist with preparing tax returns and corporate reporting requirements.

• Assist with quarterly producer commission reports; analyzing and correcting discrepancies.

• Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls.

• Establish and implement short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.


• Responsible for the preparation of accurate financial reports and supporting schedules, as required.

• Responsible for account reconciliations that include multi- currency, inter-company accounts as well as complex bank accounts.

• Duties include alerting management to potential issues affecting expenses, balances, or cash flow.

• Perform general accounting functions, including operation of the general ledger system, journal entries, and month-end close work.

• Analyze financial information, call attention to trends, make recommendations, collect information and prepare reports.

Position Qualifications:

Experience in a leadership role within a Company’s Accounting Department is required.
Ideal candidate possesses the following:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

2. Strong understanding of accounting theory. Intermediate level knowledge of all accounting functions and related internal controls; including A/P, A/R, bank req’s, fixed assets and inventory.

3. 5+ years accounting/finance experience. Experience in a Manufacturing or Transportation environment is preferred.

4. 3-5 years of high volume, high pace Accounting.

5. Highly detail oriented and organized in work. Must be able to maintain an organized system of records.

6. Must be highly computer proficient with experience learning multiple Accounting software packages and the ability to learn other Company systems quickly.

7. Ability to meet assigned deadlines. Must be willing to work long hours, if needed, to complete projects and assignments.

8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.

9. Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from CFO to accomplish objectives.

10. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications as well as Microsoft Outlook. Advanced Excel knowledge required.

11. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.

12. ACCPAC experience is a plus but not required.

Applicants with a suitable combination of work experience and position knowledge will be considered.

Position Requirements:
Candidates must possess at least five years, progressive experience in a Staff Accountant or related Finance position. Prior experience managing others is strongly preferred.
Bachelors' degree required.
The Staff Accountant must be willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time if necessary.
Ability to interface with people at all levels within the organization.

This is a salary, exempt position.
Medical and dental benefits are offered after a 3 month Orientation period.
