We are assisting our Chicago Loop-based client in their search for a Staff Accountant. Our client was established in 1979 to provide alternative financing for the manufacturing and distribution sector. Over time, the firm has diversified into other areas of asset-based lending and investment management. They are recognized globally for their commitment to creating and delivering cutting edge investment options.
The ideal candidate will have one to three years of corporate accounting experience. In this position you will work closely with the Controller and the Chief Financial Officer on financial accounting matters.
Responsibilities include:
Manage and process Accounts Payable
Manage the Accounts Receivable process, including agings
Prepare monthly financial statements
Complete monthly general ledger account reconciliation and analysis
Complete month-end and year-end general journal entries and closes
Assist in completing monthly bank account reconciliation and analysis
Prepare monthly report to analyze cost of sales adjustments (inventory write-ups and downs, discounts and returns)
Develop and analyze product line gross profit reports
Assist in preparing monthly cash flow projections & plans for all divisions and product lines
Analyze budget variances
Prepare monthly and annual actual versus budget variance reports
Prepare current versus prior period financial reports
Compile and analyze company-wide capital asset & depreciation reports
Assist in annual audit.
Complete special projects as needed in a timely and organized manner.
Assist in the development of enhanced processes to improve internal controls, monthly closes and error detection
Assist with the preparation of supplemental reports and account reconciliation for the annual audit and tax returns
Qualifications:
Highly organized, detail oriented, self-starter that has strong multi-tasking and communication skills
Bachelors Degree in Accounting
Must possess 1 or 3 years of financial analysis and accounting experience.
Excellent interpersonal skills
Detail oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to interact with all levels within the organization
Ability to problem solve
