You should have the ability to use PC-based automated software tools, proficiency with spreadsheets, project management exposure, risk-based assessments, excellent communication skills. Chicago's award-winning Imagination Theater is a non profit touring theater organization that provides diverse audiences including children and seniors with dynamic, participatory programming which enhances well-being and creates a more civil, safe society.  From its inception in 1966, Imagination Theater has remained an important resource not only to Chicagoland area schools and senior centers, but to colleges and universities across the country.  In 2009, our programming has touched the lives of 65,000 children and seniors at over 600 performances and workshops.  Imagination Theater has a budget size of $300,000 and is located near Broadway and Lawrence Avenues in Chicago.<br>
Working 15 hours a week, the Bookkeeper is responsible for the accurate and timely management of Imagination Theater’s day to day bookkeeping transactions and regular occurring financial reporting.  This position is also responsible for the accurate and timely online payroll management.  The Bookkeeper reports directly to the Artistic Director with indirect oversight of the Board Treasurer.  Because financial reporting is a leading indicator of the overall health of the organization, the Bookkeeper prepares monthly financial reports and presents to the Board of Directors for their review at its evening meetings.  The Bookkeeper manages the organization’s bank accounts transacting all financial activity within Accounts Receivables and Payables.  This position holds responsibility for ensuring the organization’s compliance with all federal, state laws and regulations as well as grant-funder required financial documents to substantiate our Certificate of Good Standing.  The Bookkeeper manages the receipt and tracking of all donations given by donors.   <br>

We will recognize the hire for this position because they have a Bachelor’s degree in a job-related field such as Accounting.  They also will have 2-3 years experience managing daily Accounts Payable and Receivable transactions.  Especially desirable will be the candidate’s work experience in an accounting or business-related function for an arts organization.  <br>
<br>
It is important that candidates have past experience at an intermediate level using accounting software such as Quickbooks and payroll management software such as Paychex.  Also critical is past experience at an intermediate level preparing regular re-occurring financial reports such as monthly profit and loss reports and balance statements.  Familiarity with regular use of Microsoft suite of products is important.  <br>

This person will be responsible for the following:<br>
•Supporting several restaurants through monthly financial statement preparation and analysis, along with processing accounts payable for at least one restaurant location<br>
•Responding to inquires from Restaurant Managers and Department Managers regarding expenses and budgets<br>
•Monthly: Preparing/Filing sales tax returns, reviewing general ledger for input accuracy, generating financial statements & supporting schedules of analysis, performing bank reconciliation for depository account, reconciling balance sheet accounts<br>
•Preparing correspondence/payments to landlords for percentage rent/other lease charges<br>
•Making month-end standard journal entries, including amortization of all prepaid assets<br>
<br>
Minimum Requirements for position:<br>
•2-3 years experience<br>
•Degree in Accounting/Finance <br>
•Restaurant/hospitality background or experience working in a centralized multi unit company preferred<br>
•Ability to multitask with special projects such as: implementing new software, streamlining accounting systems, assisting with monthly consolidation packages and other financial reporting and analysis<br>

„«	Assist the Regional Controller in preparation and submission of the Annual Secretary of the Board Report for the State of Illinois<br>

„«	Provide support to Regional Controller by becoming an expert on client funding rules and contract terms for a portfolio of schools<br>

„«	Work with and lend support to SOMs, Facility Managers and 3rd part facility maintenance providers on operational issues related to custodial and maintenance items<br>
„«	Learn about payroll processing, order processing and furniture, curriculum and technology procurement procedures so as to lend support to SOMs and Regional Controller throughout the year<br>

Job Summary<br>
The plant accountant is responsible for all accounting and financial reporting, related financial, cost accounting and productivity analysis, cash flow and capital budget, enhancement and maintenance of effective internal controls related duties. In connection with these functions, this individual will work closely with our outside CPA firm, with responsibility for all information required for external financial reporting.<br>
<br>
Essential Functions<br>
• Responsible for all internal financial statements and related analysis, with final accountability for the accuracy of all data, including weekly Profit and Loss Report<br>
• Create, direct and coordinate company financial planning and budget management functions<br>
• Complete the installation of and maintain the cost accounting system, including development of appropriate overhead factors<br>
• Approve and ensure implementation of budgets for all departments, assume responsibility for cost analysis and control<br>
• Manage the Accounting Department personnel and establish and implement policies and procedures, define roles and responsibilities and ensure that all functions are completed in a timely manner<br>
• Work closely with the vice president to oversee 401(k) plan and insurance for all aspects of the company<br>
• Maintain a positive relationship with the company’s lending bank<br>
• Establish and monitor credit limits for all customers<br>
• Prepare monthly financial statements and compile other financial analysis<br>
• Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budgets<br>
• Direct and coordinate debt financing and debt service payments with external agencies<br>
• Comply with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, including those regarding nondiscrimination, sexual harassment and employee safety<br>
• Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards<br>
• Participate in the employee selection process and effectively recommends qualified candidates for hire<br>
• Review and approves accounting personnel timekeeping reports and schedules overtime when necessary<br>
• Schedule vacation and submit vacation requests to the Human Resources Department for verification<br>
• Train and cross-train office Accounting Department personnel<br>
• Recognize employees for outstanding performance and provides guidance when improvement is needed<br>
• Recommend salary adjustments, promotions, demotions, transfers and terminations of employees<br>
• Monitor absenteeism and tardiness and approve requests for time off<br>
• Other duties as assigned<br>

Minimum Requirements<br>
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting (CPA/MBA preferred)<br>
• Knowledge of finance, accounting, including General Accepted Accounting Principles, strategic planning and execution, budgeting and cost controls. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Knowledge of short and long term budgeting.<br>
• 10 years experience in similar position<br>
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products<br>
• Strong communication skills – verbal, written and interpersonal, with company personnel, vendors and customers<br>

Tax Training Associate (December 28 – March 5) - Position Description:

Tax Training Associates play a vital role in ensuring that our 1,800 volunteers are trained and certified to complete individual tax returns for hardworking, low-income taxpayers across the Chicago area.  Associates conduct 2.5-hour tax classes during which they review tax law basics related to the Form 1040, explain how to navigate ProSeries software (professional tax software made by Intuit) and assist volunteers with a two-step certification test.  Tax trainings take place before and during the tax season at our downtown office as well as on-site at the offices of our various corporate partners, such as Deloitte, Kirkland & Ellis, and Kraft Foods.  Prior experience in tax and/or with ProSeries is not required, but strongly preferred.

In this position, the individual will primarily be responsible for all payroll processing (we currently use ADP), accounts payable and receiveable (Quickbooks), monthly and/or quarterly retail sales tax, liquor tax and payroll tax, and handling of cash including petty cash, bank deposits and cash drawers.  We have an accountant who handles year-end taxes and you will meet with that person monthly to review Quickbooks and engage in financial analysis.  You will work with our Executive Chef on cost of goods in our kitchen and helping to maintain proper cost of goods and labor margins.  You will work with our Retail Operations Manager to undertake analysis of cost of goods and labor costs in our retail cheese and wine departments, including helping us develop the accounting side of a new cheese wholesale program to restaurants that we are planning for 2010.  You will work with our managers to oversee and maintain our POS system and will work with our restaurant and retail operations on inventory on a monthly basis.  You will help to provide financial analysis and insight as we grow our business.<br>

You must have previous Quickbooks experience.  You must have previous experience working with POS systems.  You must have previous experience with payroll processing.  It would be highly advantageous to have previous restaurant and/or retail bookkeeping experience, but that is not required.  <br>

Position Summary:<br>

The Payroll Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of the payroll department including all processing and tax filings.  Accurately processes semi-monthly payroll for three companies totaling 300+ employees.<br>

Duties and Responsibilities:<br>

•	Compiles payroll data such as overtime worked, new hire and term data, from online time sheets and personnel records.<br>
•	Records changes affecting payroll such as pay rate changes, tax exemptions, insurance contributions, loan payments, and department transfers.<br>
•	Calculates commission payments paid on a monthly basis.<br>
•	Uploads expenses, bonuses, commissions and 401k matches as needed for payroll processing.<br>
•	Reviews payroll reports and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.<br>
•	Reviews and approves final payroll submission.<br>
•	Prepares government reports, sets up and terminates state unemployment insurance, and coordinates state unemployment insurance rates with ADP.  <br>

Education/Experience:<br>

•	Recent/Current Experience with ADP.<br>
•	Strongly Preferred: Degree and Certified in Payroll.<br>

Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases.<br>

Audits invoices against purchase orders, researches discrepancies, and approves for payment.<br>
<br>
Investigates problems that vendors or purchasing agents have with obtaining payment for bills.<br>
<br>

Prepares vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records, and reviews for accuracy.<br>

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Blackmore Partners is offering this internship as an opportunity for energetic, creative and motivated students and new graduates to gain experience in our unique setting. While interning at Blackmore Partners you will be an integral member of our team and will work hands-on with our Managing Director, Gerald O’Dwyer. As an intern some of your tasks will include: internet research of potential clients and private equity firms, communication with potential clients, and aiding in creating and managing business proposals and market strategies.<br>

Our interns experience practical and specific business training in all facets of corporate interactions. We treat this internship as a progressive and continual development program to prepare our interns to be able to credibly and professionally differentiate themselves in the marketplace. <br>

After your successful internship with Blackmore Partners you will have developed strong analytical and communication skills. Interns will be involved in high-level decision support and will work in teams to develop new business for Blackmore. Assignments will vary according to competence and demonstrated initiative, but will include attending client meetings, assisting on client proposals, communicating with potential clients both via phone and e-mail, pitching executive-led takeovers to Private Equity firms, and working with the partners on day-to-day tasks. <br>
