This is a gorgeous one of a kind heirloom. The finest Meiji period Satsuma lamp you will ever see. Neck is decorated with raised enamels and depicts phoenix birds in flight. Powerful Dragon heads cap the four shoulders above 4 panels with raised ceramic figural decoration depicting a farmer heading to the fields with his yak, a scholar amidst swirling clouds with scroll, a musician in a lush forest playing a flute and serenading a phoenix or peacock and an immortal walking on crashing waves. Each panel is filled with motion and vibrancy and certainly Asian symbolism. 3 light sockets with individual pull chains. Vase itself measures 15in tall. Lamp is 27in overall.
