How would you like to be a pioneer in one of the three women's writing circles that will be integrated with women writers from India? Enrollment will be on a first-come first-serve basis and there are only 12 USA openings. If you enroll prior to March 18th, I'll guarantee you a place if you've already taken a class at WWf(a)C. When you enroll early, include the word "pioneer" in the subject box and our registrar will know that YOU get in for the reduced participation fee of $200. After March 10th, the fee is $240.
In India, writing circles are centers of liberation as they are for us here at Catherine College. Hence, there will be much to share together in the three anticipated writing circles that will bridge cultures and national boundaries.
Dr. Vaijayanti Gupta writes as follows: "The literary landscape of India is one of the most exciting, yet daunting and complex ones in the world, with over 18 officially recognized languages, over 400 dialects and a 5000 year old culture that has evolved differently in different regions of the country. Throughout the region's history, women have excelled at literature, but writing has traditionally been regarded the domain of men. As elsewhere in the world, women's writing in India has been multi-faceted, but often persisting secretly and sometimes in defiance and pain. . . . "
