Application Developer/Analyst / Full Time / Chicago

Role Summary:
Develop a strong understanding of University Research Administration business process, document development work (forms, reports, interfaces, conversions and enhancements and database design) and monitor system performance for key applications and related components.

Responsibilities:
• Work directly with the software vendor and other team members to design the new system based on business requirements
• Develop technical design based on functional requirements and functional design
• Development will include forms, reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements and workflow
• Identify and escalate technical issues and roadblocks with software vendor and internal departments to determine best methods to resolve issues or system bugs
• Customize and develop core Research Administration functionality and add-on modules to provide University-required capabilities that current vendor software does not
• Support all aspects of the new Research Administration system
• Gather and write technical requirements as needed
• Develop detailed implementation specifications, prototypes and manuals.
• Document development work, technical deliverables, technical plans and analysis, strategies (logical/technical design, backup strategy, reporting strategy, security design, etc)
• Perform System Administration skills such:
o Monitor system performance and key applications/components
o Troubleshoot and debug system issues
o Apply and test patches
o Manage system upgrades
o Configure/manage the interface of associated software
o Communicate with supporting internal departments for system maintenance

Required Qualifications:
• Minimum 3 years of technical experience in a project orientated environment
• Minimum 2 years of enterprise application development and management within a Microsoft environment
• Must have the ability to take leadership over technical piece and be self reliant
• Technical Skills Required:
o Jscript/JavaScript, T-SQL, HTML, CSS, C#, Windows Scripting, Visual SourceSafe
• ASP.NET experience is preferred
• Ability to research efficiently and effectively
• Ability to document difficult processes clearly and concisely
• Ability to adapt to new technologies quickly
• Willingness to be flexible based on project needs and changes
• Ability to collaborate and be a team player
• Effective verbal and written skills

Additional Requirements

Java Script focus if you have .Net that is a plus
2 – 3 year project installing and enhancing a software product for University research
Lead Developer role – need excellent communication skils, ability to work with users, vendors etc
Admin and trouble shooter for application

Salary $80-90K.
