Be part of a new kind of canine social experience! Looking for responsible and experienced dog daycare professional to manage Dog-a-holics new facility. Dog-a-holics has two, upscale retail stores in Chicago and is expanding into an additional service based business at 3608 N. Southport Ave, Chicago, IL. This facility will offer week day dog daycare, professional training classes and seminars, grooming services and an outdoor play park for customers and the neighborhood dogs.
To be considered for this position, you MUST have previous daycare experience. Experience managing employees is also a plus.
Position is full time and salaried. Since we do not offer boarding, your weekends and evenings will be free!
Job Responsibilities include:
1. MANAGEMENT:
• Assist in interviewing and hiring part time staff
• Create work schedules for full time and part time staff
• Managing and motivating the rest of the staff
• Identify possible training needs and bring them to the owner's attention
• Requesting and/or purchasing supplies for the store and fixing cosmetic issues with the store
• Responding to customer complaints and comments in a professional and friendly manner
• In conjunction with the business owner, dealing with staffing issues, conducting appraisals and performance reviews for your staff; and providing or organizing training and development so they can help with your job functions
2. DOG HANDLING & CARE: Must enjoy being around dogs.
• Attend to dogs in daycare setting and manage harmonious play groups.
• Initiate measures for staff to control canine group behavior.
• Examine and observe dogs to detect signs of illness or injury.
• Ensure staff are participating in indoor and outdoor recreational activities to maintain the dogs’ physical and mental health.
• May drive company vehicle to pick up or deliver pets. (Drivers license required.)
• Job may involve lifting large dogs or moving outdoor fencing materials.
• May assist groomer and/or dog trainer in other daily activities.
3. CUSTOMER SERVICE AND CLERICAL:
• Must be friendly and courteous to customers and coworkers.
• Answer telephone and schedule appointments.
• Sell daycare packages and collect fees from customers
• Coordinate daily drop off and pick up schedules for dogs that need it
• Manage customer files and records.
4. CLEANING & OTHER:
• Ensure staff promptly cleans up and disposes of all dog messes; sanitizes toys and indoor/outdoor play areas are cleaned and disinfected daily.
• May be required to provide minor first aid treatment to injured dog or secure immediate veterinary care.
