National defense law firm based in Chicago is seeking a medical records technician with 4+ years medical records experience in a hospital or medical office. Must have excellent understanding of medical abbreviations/terminology. Must be detail oriented, able to work both independently and as part of a team. Must have minimum typing skills of 60 + wpm and proficiency in MS Word and Excel. Primary responsibilities will include working with Legal Nurse Consultants and attorneys: organizinig medical records; completing chart analysis and identification of any missing components; preparing records for detailed medical analysis by attorneys and/or Legal Nurse Consultants; prepare index of case records and templates for each medical chronology etc.
