GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Located at Kendall College in Chicago, Illinois, the Marketing Manager of Art & Design will lead the development and execution of marketing strategies and tactics for specific professional target markets (i.e. architects, graphic designers, artists, landscape architects, etc.). This individual will be responsible for understanding the Art & Design vertical, its target market and their educational needs. In addition, he/she will be responsible for working cross-functionally with marketing partners and vendors to reach defined goals and objectives outlined for the business. The Marketing Manager's success is measured on brand awareness among the target market, with an emphasis on driving prospective student acquisition and retention. In addition, he/she will ensure that our institutional positioning in the market place is differentiated against competitive offerings. Principal responsibilities include:
- Develop the marketing strategy for target audiences/programs: Work with academic leadership, product development lead(s), admissions and sales to develop an in-depth understanding of the target market, and apply this knowledge to the development of a strategic plan to reach the respective audience.
- Identify resource needs in order to attain key objectives.
- Represent the marketing team as a member of other cross-functional teams; Lead cross-functional execution of all marketing plan initiatives; Engage appropriate marketing team members and leadership as necessary.
- Ensure audience-marketing plans are synergistic with overall educational institution goals and objectives.
- Set Channel Marketing Goals (i.e. direct mail, web marketing, print media): Work with marketing vendors to develop clear and attainable marketing tactics; Develop unique messaging and positioning for each audience area and its respective educational programs.
- Measure, report and analyze all marketing activity: Quantify expected results and track performance of marketing strategy through measurement and analysis of prospective student inquiries, conversion, and retention to understand campaign effectiveness and ROI.
- Proactively identify issues, initiate and lead course correction when those issues potentially challenge the organization's ability to achieve critical goals.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Obtain in-depth understanding of the Laureate Education's business plans and strategies.
- Interface effectively with Product Management, Enrollment Management, Product Development, and Academic leadership to collaborate on program management and strategies.
- Provide feedback and direction for future programs and campaigns.
- Interface with academic partners to ensure clear understanding of program elements such as admissions requirements, course curriculum, program outcomes, and professional accreditations.
- Provide timely and accurate communication to all key stakeholders to ensure awareness of and participation in all marketing events.
- Ensure successful coordination of marketing channel programs and develop logical, effective marketing communications plans. Execute all activities in a timely and accurate manner including status reports, expense reports, budget development, and forecast updates.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 5-8 years marketing management experience required.
- Bachelors' degree required. MBA or graduate level education desirable but not necessary for success.
- Brand management, product management, or product marketing experience with a consumer packaged goods, service, education, publishing, or media company preferred.
- Direct marketing, marketing communications, co-marketing, advertising, membership marketing, or web marketing experience is a plus.
- Experience in understanding market research and business analytics; Exceptional problem solving and analytic skills.
- Integrated marketing and product development/management knowledge, to develop marketing strategies and plans for all stages of product lifecycle.
- Possess strong leadership abilities in the areas of managing and executing marketing programs and tactics.
- Experience in developing marketing plans and tactics inclusive of media, direct mail, telemarketing, seminars, trade shows, events and on-line campaigns to drive customer inquiry, acquisition, and retention.
- Must be intelligent, professional, mature and well organized, displaying strong prioritization and time management skills.
- Must have experience developing and managing a budget as well as understanding and articulating financial implications of marketing programs.
- Experience managing strategic projects, ability to understand big picture as well as execute on strategy.
- Strong presentation and meeting facilitation skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong relationship building skills.
