Cross-Cultural Interpreting Services (CCIS) of Heartland Alliance seeks interpreters for freelance/independent contractor opportunities.
Contractors set their own schedules based upon availability for interpreting assignments and can expect to be placed in medical settings, social service agencies, schools, law firms and businesses throughout the Chicagoland area.
We are seeking qualified individuals who are fluent in English and at least one of the following languages:
Albanian, American Sign Language, Amharic, Arabic, Assyrian, Bulgarian, Burmese, Cambodian, Chin, Farsi, Greek, Gujarati, Hindi, Hungarian, Italian, Karen, Karenni, Khmer, Kirundi, Korean, Lao/Thai, Lithuanian, Malayalam, Mongolian, Nepali, Persian, Portuguese, Punjabi, Romanian, Somali, Swahili, Tagalog, Tigrigna/Tigrinya, Turkish, Urdu and Yoruba.
Qualifications: a certificate of medical interpreter training (40 hours) from a validated training program is required. Superb communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Valid driver’s license, auto insurance and a car are not required, but increase the opportunity for assignments.
