Title: Development Associate
Reports to: Grants Manager & Marketing Communications Manager

La Casa Norte’s mission and philosophy of service is to impact the social issue of homelessness at the individual and community levels.
The Development Assistant will work for La Casa Norte as part of LCN’s development team. This team is responsible for raising approximately $2.5 million dollars each year to support La Casa Norte’s operations.
Grants
75% of time will be utilized by the Grants Manager. Will apply for 60 new or previously rejected local based grant funders; proposals will be mainly submitted to smaller Family Foundations often utilizing a very targeted funding request. (5 grants per month).
Grant prospecting
--Reading RFPs
--determining eligibility
--requesting guidelines
--reading bulletins, visiting government, foundation and corporate websites
--Examining 990s
Grant research
--Reading reports
--assessing relevant statistics and issues
--talking with program officers
--Attend meetings and TA sessions
Grant writing
--Crafting proposals
--writing copy
--budgeting
Grant reporting
--Tracking in RE
--maintaining hard files
--gathering information for reports
--coordinating staff to acquire necessary outcomes information
--maintaining correspondence with donors regarding requirements
Special Events & Marketing
25% of the time will be utilized working on Special Events and Marketing Related activities overseen by the Marketing/Communications and Development Manager. The Development Assistant will be utilized to help prepare for all special events such as the annual Gala, friend raisers and next generation board activities.

--Experience in development and grant writing, governmental funding and relationships preferred.
