POSITION PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Chief Community Investment Officer, the director will lead United Way of Metropolitan Chicago’s (UWMC) Financial Stability (FS) issue area work, including strategic plan creation, implementation, and evaluation of impact. This will include programmatic investment, partnership and initiative creation as well as public policy and public awareness efforts. The director will ensure that UWMC is progressing toward achieving financial stability outcomes in a significant and measurable way.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identifies, recruits and maintains on-going relationships with key community stakeholders
Acts as a staff team leader.
Supports volunteers to develop sound strategies and ensure effective implementation and measurement.
Organizes and leads regional financial stability panel through coordination and implementation of strategic plan.
Monitors budget, assists in identifying financial resources necessary for the initiative, and co-directs efforts to secure resources.
Designs and carries out a workable operations plan, defines individual roles, expectations, and operations protocols.
Manages day-to-day components and supports staff, including a program manager and a coordinator, in carrying out their work plans.
Works in concert with lead agencies and partners.
Develops and tracks indicators to evaluate outcomes of the initiative.
Provides key stakeholders with regular progress updates.
Works in partnership with UWMC’s director of advocacy and communications staff to develop strategies and tools that promote and advance policy and critical messages consistent with outcomes.
Acts as key point person and spokesperson for initiative, including public speaking and distribution of marketing materials.
Supports United Way’s strategic direction through presentations and supports United Way’s colleagues.
Maintains established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.
Attends organizational, departmental and committee meetings as directed.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES NCESSARY FOR THE POSITION:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree (M.A) in related fields such as social services, public administration, economics, etc.)
Bachelor's degree in (B.A.) in related fields with at least five years of experience in project management, including staff and volunteer management and resource development.
Proven ability to think analytically and translate plans into action through initiative.
Outstanding verbal, written, presentation and meeting facilitation skills.
Experienced in latest version of Microsoft Office Environment (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
