I am looking for a dog for my daughter... We had an unusual circumstance, my 8yearold daughter found an absolute wonderful dog, and cared for her and fell in love with her, but in a bittersweet circumstance found her true owners... my daughter has had a hard couple of weeks and a hard Christmas understanding how finding mollies owners was a good thing for Mollie, and her family.
She loved that dog more then anything and cared for her unconditionally, my daughter has a heart of gold and loves animals... we don't have a ton of money but we have a ton of LOVE and are willing to share our love especially with a wonderful loving animal who needs a good loving home!

The thing is my daughter/my family didn't mean to love her, we found her and she looked terrible, her fur was all matted and she was covered in stickers and she was scared, trembling...

We gave her ALL the LOVE in the world we would have done anything for her... ANYTHING!!!

She brought our family closer/happier together...

then her owners were found

we were happy to find her owners... But they were very UNGRATEFUL...

when I mean ungrateful, I mean they acted like we stole her or something... It was so weird,
We just wanted her to have her rightful owners, but it was so weird... My daughter felt weird about the way they acted, and so did I, we just hope and prey she is safe and happy,

if you have any information, or a way I can help my daughter understand these circumstances/ a dog I can give to her to help her... I would so much appreciate it!!!

Happy Holidays, everybody. Last week, some friends and I found a stray dog: a young (probably a year and a half or less), female Siberian Husky with BEAUTIFUL blue eyes. She appears to be house broken, walks nicely on a leash, and is very friendly and mild-mannered. Unfortunately, due to my living situation and being a student, I cannot keep her, so I relinquished her to a no-kill humane society. I grew rather attached to her, so I'm hoping someone in the Hyde Park/U of C area might be able to adopt her. If you can commit to caring for this wonderful dog, I would really like to help out with her care (feeding, walking, playing, training, etc.). I'd be more than happy to come by a few days a week for free to take care of her. If you are interested, please E-mail me, and I will send you the information about the shelter where she is staying. By the time she is ready for adoption, she will be spayed and up to date on shots.

I'm currently looking to find a new home for 2 males cats (both about 3 years old) due to some upcoming travel for work. Both cats are neutered, are up to date with their vaccinations, and are in overall excellent health. They are very affectionate (total lap cats), are well-behaved, and get along swimmingly with children, and at least reasonably well with dogs. I would prefer the pair to go together, but it's not a deal breaker.

Included with the cats is everything you need to get started, including food, litter boxes (and litter), and a plethora of toys. Also included, if you so desire to take it, is a kitty condo that they both have taken quite a liking to.

These cats are available to a good home for a very reasonable re-homing fee (that is negotiable). I ask that you are able to come pick them up in your own vehicle, as taking 2 cats on the bus would probably be an adventure you don't want to experience.

So here's my situation: I used to live in a 2br with a roommate and she had these 2 cats. She lost her job, we lost our apt, she abandoned her cats, I haven't heard from her since. Then I moved into a studio and brought them with me so I could try to find them a loving home. My apt is too small and I don't have the time to be giving them the attention they need and deserve. I'm also not the biggest cat person. I don't want to take them to a shelter; that will be my last resort. I just can't afford to take care of them much longer so I need them gone asap.

About the cats: Both are boys (brothers), bout 5 years old (I think?), furry, one is white and the other is a very light brown. They are very cute, cuddly, affectionate, calm, and love to eat. My roommate said that they are fixed and have had all their shots and whatnot. They are also declawed. They'd be good for someone who can give them lots of love and attention. I'm not asking for a fee and you can take everything that I have of theirs: food and food bowls, cat treats, litter and box liners, toys, brush and comb, cat carriers.

Byron is a young Scottish Terrier mix who has an interesting past, we're sure, we just don't know exactly what it is. He is missing a circle of hair on the top of his head that appears to be scar tissue from a previous injury. Chances are, the hair will never grow back but we think Byron is pretty cute even minus the hair. Byron intially came to ACL from another shelter who had taken him in as a stray. He is housebroken and gets along well with most other small dogs. He is going to need some obedience training and can be a little mouthy, so for that reason, we are recommending that he go to a home with children over the age of 10.

Roxy is a 3-4 year old yellow lab mix who came to ACL as a transfer from another shelter. Roxy was originally surrendered by her owners who could no longer care for her and she was also very sick when she arrived. Lack of energy is nothing Roxy has a problem with anymore. She can be a handful and is not the dog for just every adopter but if you're experienced and have the time to train Roxy, she could be a great well-behaved dog. Roxy has many of her basic commands down but she is going to need further obedience and a home where she can get rigorous exercise 1-2 times per day. The ideal home for Roxy? Active, consistent, patient, adult only or kids over 16, no cats, only dog (she plays very rough).

Julez 5 & 10, Julez 5-1.00, Julez Pet Shop- Whatever you want to call it. It needs to get shut down. I purchased the most adorable kitten from there. I had an idea what I was getting myself into. But if you seen this kitten and the way she was looking at you... I would have bought all three kittens there, & the mother if I had the money. Just to get them out of that situation, and just to bring them to a vet.

My total vet bill - $505. Pnemonia, tapeworms, & fleas. What I paid for the kitten- $100.

To the owner of that store- You are the biggest piece of shit I know, and I promise you, I will do everything possible to shut you down. This kitten was blessed to be given a home by our family, and be brought to the vet to get treated. Just the thought of the other 2 remaining kittens, and that poor mother cat, it breaks my heart. You are complete scum. Shame on you.

To the people that will talk shit about me getting the kitten from there- atleast this kitten has a loving home. I have no regrets. Like I said, if I had the money to buy all of the kittens and mother cat there, believe me, I would have. That store is disgusting. Those poor animals...

They are fixed, micro-chipped and brought up to date on their shots. The mom was tested for FIV/FELV and was neg/ neg

Good things can happen on CL!!!!! In the most unexpected place!

i placed my bunny in a day to a great home after fostering him for a few months and im 100 percent confident in my choice. i didnt want to place him in a shelter becuase i didnt think he would get the attention and didnt know how long it would be before being placed. shes wonderful from what i have heard from her . thanks for all the offers but this has worked out amazingly and will be great for him. dont lose hope in rehoming your animal, yes it sucks to give up a pet but thank you for making this work out so wonderfully. the bunny will get a new home tomorrow on xmas. theres a happy ending to a lady who had to put down her bunny and brought in a new one. and a happy ending for me, a feeling great about this and great for my bunny. thanks CL and to my wonderful adoptor!

Before you take your pet to a shelter, please re-think your options and realize the benefits of keeping your pet. Your pet is there for you no matter what and does not ask for much in return. If a friend or family member cannot take them in while you endure a hardship, etc then PLEASE think about the possibility of having another animal lover FOSTER your pet during a difficult time. If you must take your pet to a NO-KILL shelter, please do it in person. Do not leave them tied to a door or within the boundaries of the shelter late at night, in the cold or when it is closed. They love you and deserve dignity - they are the victim.

Maybe your precious pet was lost and over time forgotten or possibly put into the wrong hands. Never stop looking, there are so many sources to spread the word .....

Please read the below fully to understand what can happen to your once beloved pet and how you would feel in their "paws".

I have a blue nose pitbull who will be 3 in January. She needs a caring and loving home. We cannot keep her because she has aggression towards not only small dogs, female animals, and cats as well. She is great with people and ADORES kids!!! Very loveable and friendly. She is timid at first but that is because the owners previous to me used to beat and abuse her. She cannot be fought, she will coward and let the other animal kill her. Listens very well although you should not lock her in any rooms because she is also an escape artist she will chew the door to get out so I recommend having a kennel for her. $75 re-homing fee applies for background check. Answers to the name Socks. Pure Blue Nose, white on her chest and paws, also has a birth mark on her nose in the shape of a "J". Loves to cuddle and wants nothing but attention and love. She will let you know when she wants to go out or wants attention (nibbles on your arm and or nose). Would prefer her to go to a home with kids and a fenced in yard to run around in. She will walk right next to you but not until she gets used to you. DOES NOT LIKE BEEF FLAVORED FOOD. Canned food gives her a stomach ache and causes her to have diarreah. Not sure what kind of bird, I think he is a cockatiel? My husband found him at least a month ago. We have been trying to find the owners but still no luck. If you read through some of these posts, it seems the chaos is already beginning. People are already giving up their "Christmas Puppies" because they do not fit into their lives. I won't judge these people because I do not know them and everyone makes mistakes, but you can avoid making the same ones if you learn from what others are going through.

Be SURE you (or the person you are buying for) is ready for and really wants to bring a pet into your home.

Check with everyone in the household to be sure the new pet will be welcomed by all.

Be ready financially and know if you're adopting a breed that's known for severe medical issues that will cost you hundred to thousands to manage.

Also make sure that you will be allowed to keep your new family member: Check with your landlord and check local breed restrictions first and do some research on the type of dog you may choose.

Consider getting a new pet after the holidays. That way, everyone gets to know one another and adjust without all the excitement. Take the whole family and let everyone help pick the new pet out.

Breeders who advertise their animals as "the perfect gift" show no consideration for what a baby animal goes through when thrust into a new hectic situation and they show no concern for the possiblility of their "Christmas Puppy" being tossed aside after the novelty of a pet has worn off. It is a fact that more than half of gifted pets end up abandoned at shelters or on the streets shortly after the holidays. Most end up dead one way or another. Others remain in their homes until they're past the "cute baby" stage and no longer appeal to their owners. They end up ultimately where most of the others do: DEAD. Why would you buy from a breeder who ignores this?

Good luck to all those who feel they are ready for and bring into their homes pets this holiday season.
