Job Summary:
The Retail Store Manager oversees the store location operation. The store manager is responsible for consistently ensuring that the store staff is providing the highest level of service and upholding short and long term objectives of the company. This position is responsible for team member training, coaching and developing, achieving budgeting revenue goals, shrink percentage and monitoring expenses.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Required to work a minimum of 40 hours per week within a 7 day workweek in order to ensure smooth operation of store and to meet required sales goals.
2. Spend 70% of their work week on the sales floor assisting sales staff with customer service related duties.
3. Recruit and hire new staff as set forth by Human Resources guidelines and labor laws. Ensure store is properly staffed at all times in order to achieve sales goals.
4. Discipline and coach staff as necessary. Terminate with direction and guidance of Retail Operations Manager and Human Resources. Ensure effective follow up with employee performance challenges.
5. Train, and develop staff by following training guidelines.
6. Maintain sales staff morale by recognizing outstanding performance and service.
7. Conduct performance reviews at three month point and annually thereafter. Evaluate pay rates at review time and increase rates as necessary and based on performance and with approval from Retail Operations Manager. Ensure promotions or demotions are conducted fairly and based on performance.
8. Oversee staff scheduling to ensure proper store coverage for all shifts. Ensure staff takes required legal breaks.
9. Manage store sales by setting daily goals, analyzing monthly plans, and managing labor hours.
10. Ensure compliance with all audit policies by accounting for merchandise sales through accurate recording of customer service transactions and perpetual counts.
11. Maintain all store mechanical systems and report any malfunctions to the appropriate person for repair.
12. Maintain an efficient ordering system to ensure that all necessary store supplies are available as needed.
13. Assume responsibility for store opening and closing procedures including: counting register and safe funds, completing accurate band deposits, opening/closing registers and securing all store assets.
14. Monitor and adjust payroll timekeeping system as necessary. Review staff hours to ensure accuracy and ensure overtime is kept to a minimum every Monday and throughout the week as necessary. Implement discipline procedures for employees inaccurate punching.
15. Execute all merchandising guidelines. Ensure timely and accurate execution of promotions.
16. Maintain a clean, professional working environment in accordance with Paul Frank merchandising guidelines.
17. Manage the required annual physical inventories by scheduling and overseeing the inventory process in your store.
18. Follow all policies specific to inventory control; paperwork flow, over/short logs, markdowns, RA’s, credits, reorders, timeliness of reporting, receipt and cost of goods, merchandise transfers, and all related inventory matters.
19. Instill in sales staff the meaning and importance of customer service. Empower the staff to appropriately “use their best judgment” in all customer service matters in a way to benefit the customer and ensure satisfaction.
20. Be personally available to all customers to communicate and identify their needs and address their questions and concerns.
21. Ensure sales floor is adequately zones, and that all associates are being productive.
22. Protect company assets through promoting awareness of Loss Prevention.
23. Maintain acceptable inventory shrinkage. .5% or less of sales per month is the maximum allowed shrinkage. Conduct monthly cycle counts.
24. Maintain store security systems, including store security cameras, inventory control tags, burglar alarms and cash handling procedures.
25. Adhere to banking procedures and responsible for accurate deposits.
26. Enforce loss prevention policies, including associates bag check and shoplifting controls.

Assistant Managers, Keyholders and Sales Associates
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
1. 1-3 years retail supervisory experience.
2. College degree in business, retail operations, or fashion design/merchandising preferred.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Excellent motivational and leadership skills.
Language Skills:
English, bilingual a plus but not required.
