Job Summary:
This position is responsible for supporting collaborative research projects related to cancer and disease. Responsibilities will include: Assisting graduate students and post-doctoral researchers with synthesis and purification of nucleic acids, some biochemistry/molecular biology techniques, cell/tissue culture, and small animal work.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Synthesis, purification, and characterization of RNA/DNA (HPLC, UV-VIS, MALDI-MS)
- Maintain cell culture lines
- Maintain small animal colonies (mice/rats)
- Surgery and dissection of small animals
- Biochemistry (Western Blots, immunohisto/immunocytochemistry)
- Molecular Biology ( Plasmid preps, subcloning, DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, etc.)
- Tissue Sectioning/Histology
- Proficient in MS Office (word, excel, powerpoint)
- Performing general laboratory maintenance (ordering lab supplies and routine equipment maintenance)
- Performing other related duties as required or assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in biological engineering, biochemistry, biology or a related science
- Laboratory experience with knowledge of basic procedures and techniques
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to plan, organize, and schedule in an efficient manner
Preferred Qualifications:
2-4 years laboratory experience in the specified techniques
Experience with nanoparticles synthesis and characterization
Experience with maintaining cell culture lines
Experience working with small animals
Experience with basic biochemistry/molecular biology techniques
Proficient computer skills
