The Client is a quickly growing financial software technology products and services firm seeking a Financial Software Engineers to work in their downtown Chicago, IL office. Successful candidates will be responsible for specifying, designing, developing, testing, implementing, deploying, and maintaining electronic trading applications & components including Trading Screens, Order Management Systems, Match Engines, and Analytics. To qualify you must have in-depth knowledge in Java theory & fundamentals like OO Programming, extending classes (inheritance) and implementing interfaces and solid hands on experience using JBOSS, Web Logic, UML tools, front end frameworks such as SWT or Struts, and interfacing with databases such as Oracle, SQL, Server Sybase and/or DB2 are considered a strong plus.
Ideal Skills & Characteristics
Ideally they are seeking individuals with 2 to 10 years hands on coding experiences with Java (J2EE, Eclipse) Programming that are use to taking Initiative in following Java Best Practices and paying attention to details coming of financial companies. Candidates must have excellent oral communication/technical writing skills and be able to collaborate well with others due to small team sizes working together within a multi-project environment. Individuals who are used to showing persistence in figuring out problems and working efficiently towards goals move to the top of the list. Also proven experience doing web development and technical support with the ability to quickly learn financial concepts and acquire the necessary technical knowledge is highly appreciated. The Client’s environment consist of JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (Windows/Linux/Unix/Solaris) so any successful candidate should be familiar with doing diagnostic insight, shell scripting, SQL/Databse Programming and familiar with Networking TCP/UDP.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Specify, design, develop, test, and implement Java APIs for Financial Exchanges.
• Design electronic trading components including Trading Screens, Order Management Systems, and Match Engines while conforming to TH process and technical standards (including performance, reliability, time to market, and costs such as supportability)
• Analyze customer and internal project requirements to implement new and enhance existing solutions
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of technologies including open domain standards and API specifications, Financial Information Exchange (FIX) Protocol and current developments, especially those appropriate to TH and use that knowledge in conjunction with TH architectures to design appropriate solutions and transfer that knowledge, as appropriate, to other TH employees
• Installation and configuration of TH products
• Testing of enhancements, fixes and new releases
• Develop and review technical content for user manuals
Experience and Qualifications:
• Experience with J2EE programming/object oriented Programming concepts and application servers (JBOSS, Web Logic)
• Experience with 1 or more relational database(s): Oracle, SQL Server, Sysbase, and/or DB2
• Familiarity with TCP/IP and other wire protocols, socket programming
• Solid understanding of Operating Systems (UNIX, Linux & Windows)
• Good understanding of standard MS Office Suite
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills and some understanding of institutional investment process, trading technologies, financial market data concepts (a plus)
EDUCATION:
• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree
