I am an actor who played Oliver "Daddy " Warbucks in a local production of "Annie" a couple of years ago. Ever since that show closed, I have missed that little girl Ilike you can't believe. I am hoping to fill that void by acting as a surrogate grandfather for a girl between 5 and 10 years old. Could your daughter benefit from having a POSITIVE, APPROPRIATE relationship with a grandfatherly figure in her life?

I have approached a number of volunteer/mentoring programs. They all tell me that they will match me with a male, but not a female.

I am not weird, I am not suggesting anything improper. I am just a guy who is getting old, who has love in his heart to share.

I can tell more about me when you respond.
it's OK to distribute this charitable volunteerism opportunity for inclusion in 3rd party web sites that have been approved by craigslist
Ayurveda is a 5000 years old Indian health care system that is widely practiced even today. "Ayur" in Sanskrit means "life" and "Veda" means "science". It is a perfect Science of health and longevity. This holistic science is the knowledge of complete balance of the body, mind and spirit, including the emotions and psychology, on all levels. It includes in its consideration, longevity, rejuvenation and self-realization therapies through herbs, diet, exercise, yoga, massage, aromas, tantras, mantras, and meditation. According to Ayurvedic tradition, health is the balance of elements air, earth, fire, and water, and illness is an excess or deficiency of any particular element. Ayurveda treats illness at its source, rather than at the level of symptoms, and helps an individual to take responsibility for their own health and well being. Ayurveda is also known as 'Ashtanga Veda' (the word literally means 'Eight branches of knowledge') as it is divided into eight specialized branches.
Yoga is a complete science of life that originated in India several thousands of years ago. It is the oldest system of personal development in the world, encompassing the entire body, mind and spirit. It is the union between a person's own consciousness and the universal consciousness. The classical techniques of Yoga date back more than 5,000 years. The word Yoga means "to join or yoke together," and it brings the body and mind together into one harmonious experience.

International volunteers will be learning the Basics of Yoga and Ayurveda in these three weeks of the project. Every day, there will be topics covered by a professional master (the person in charge of yoga and ayurveda classes), which will be practiced by the volunteers. Yoga will be practiced every day.
Apart from this, the volunteers will also help at the herbal garden and the nearby school. Furthermore, the volunteers will support a local school in need of simple renovation work. The volunteers will also interact with the children teaching them basic English and Mathematics, Health and Hygiene awareness, environmental protection, etc.

There are now about 168 orphans living in 15 families with the care from the village mothers and staff. The orphans come from 5 different provinces in the north of Vietnam at the ages between 1-18 years old. They are provided with housing, full care and education. Being orphan or abandoned, children are quite shy and they need more confidence to be involved with regular life in the community as normal children.
Volunteers will spend time with the children and help improving their English, organizing games and other activities for them. Volunteers will also help redecorating the houses and classrooms, planting vegetable, cleaning the area. Volunteers will also join the families to get closer to the children’s life and try to build up wider horizon for the children and encourage them to learn better for brighter future.

May 17 - May 29, 2010
May 31 - June 12, 2010
June 14 - June 26, 2010
June 28 - July 10, 2010
July 12 - July 24, 2010

I am in need of service hours for school. I need about 35 hours but hope to continue many more hours after that. I am not quite sure where to begin my volunteering but a homeless shelter, hospital holding babies, nursing home, food pantry, i am pretty willing to do whatever i can. I am also very good with children so i can do some free babysitting for families who might need some childcare while their at school or looking for work. If you can provide me with any good organizations or families that would be wonderful.

thanks so much and have a wonderful holiday.

Petition wants volunteers for Bakugan convention

Hello! Are you a fan of the game Bakugan? Do you want to help make a difference? This is your chance to help with the "Naga's Gatekeepers Creation Petition" found here:

http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/nagagatekeepers

I am trying to gather Volunteers to help gather signatures from participants at each of the major events called "Baku-con"

http://www.baku-con.com/

I am looking for friendly individuals who are willing to be around kids and can sacrifice a weekend and a T-shirt for a cause such as this. Fans of Bakugan are requested. If you know little about Bakugan, you can find out more at Bakugan.com. Under 18 is okay, just get your parent's permission.

I have gotten the go-ahead from Spinmaster to do this petition. You must be good in social situations as I want to take advantage of this opportunity and not blow it. If you accept, I will send everything you need except for a clipboard, T-shirt, and pens. This will include the pages for signatures, a sticker for the clipboard, an Iron-on shirt patch and instructions, and even a laminated badge with your name (Or an alias, if desired). If you are able to help me in my goal of collecting signatures from Bakugan fans for his petition, I will gladly vouch for your abilities.

Access to a Fax machine or a scanner is needed to send copies of the signatures to me.

It's a simple and unoffensive cause, and if you have any questions you may feel free to ask. Again, Fans are preferred.

It's the day of Christmas Eve, and I have done a good job of keeping my spirits and hope up, but, today, I just can't fight off the depression.
I am in treatment. I just need a little extra help today, to keep me from sinking lower.

My most basic needs are met, and anything lacking, I can make do without, or would take for granted - except for kindness.

So, please, maybe, take a few moments and just send me an encouraging word?

A reminder to stay out of bed today

A reminder to just keep moving

A reminder to care for myself

to maintain, one step at a time.

that I can do the dishes

that I can do the laundry

fix the plastic on the window

take a soothing bath

listen to music or watch a show

not to give up hope

to pray

light candles

sweep & mop

clean the fridge

make lunch

A reminder that I am not alone. That I can do it.

Please, just take the moment to email me some encouragement, and give me the gift of feeling cared about.

Thank you for that kindness.

The University of Chicago along with the University of Illinois at Chicago are seeking individuals in the Chicago area who suffer from Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, or Bipolar Disorder with psychotic features with available immediate family members to participate in our genetic study. Family members do not have to suffer from mental health symptoms to participate. The overall goal of this research is to improve our understanding about the biological causes of these illnesses so that we can develop better treatments to improve and eventually restore the lives of patients who suffer with them. This study is overseen at the University of Chicago by investigator Dr. Elliot Gershon and Principal Investigator Dr. John Sweeney at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Participants will undergo a 2-4 hour diagnostic interview at the University of Chicago, and then several physiological tests which take 8 or more hours to complete at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Physiological tests include a urine screen, blood sample, eye movement assessments, cognitive assessment, EEG, and an MRI. Each participant will be reimbursed per assessment (maximum reimbursement per participant is $190). Participation is subject to eligibility. There is no expense to the subject to participate. The study is on-going until 2012.
The Western Ghats is India's prime zone for bio-diversity, known for the number of animal and plant species in this region. International volunteer projects have been running for many years in this region and there is now a very strong network of local partners and local volunteers. Volunteers have cooperated with a large number of schools, orphanages, institutions for special education and the local authorities to develop projects that are meaningful for the development of this rural town.
The international volunteer projects will focus on rural development, environmental protection and children. The volunteers will spread awareness about environmental protection and solid waste management to schoolchildren. They will also be involved in activities such as creative education and teaching basic English and Math through games, art and songs with the children from the local schools, including disabled kids (physically and/or mentally). The work might include some physical work for the renovation and betterment of the schools (painting, building a playground, etc.).

Support for disabled children on Bali Island (Volunteer in Indonesia)

Support for disabled children on Bali Island
December 5 - December 19, 2009
March 20 - April 3, 2010

Bali Island is a densely populated island, with population more that 3 million people all together. The population is almost all Indonesian, 95% are of Balinese Hindu descent and could be describe as ethic Balinese. Bali is also a tiny, extremely fertile and dramatically mountainous island. It is only 140 km by 80 km. The tourism boom, which started in 1970s has brought many changes and has helped pay for improvement in roads, telecommunication, education and health. Though tourism has had some marked effects, Bali’s unique culture and custom has proved to be remarkably island. Bali disabled School was founded with the aim to cater for the needs of disabled children and youth in Bali and the surrounding areas. Moreover, this school is also aimed to encourage and motivate the disable children and youth to struggle for their future. We would like to host foreign volunteers because we believe that their interaction with the children, during education and vocational classes and other therapeutic activities will be of great benefit as our students have little or no chances to meet and live with people from other cultures. The intercultural dimension that their presence will generate will also be welcomed and valued by the local staffs. The support that the volunteers will give to our teaching staff, particularly those teaching English, will be invaluable.
The role of the volunteers will be assisting local teacher in classes like teaching basic conversation in English, helping teacher in giving training on physical activities of the disabled students like making simple handicrafts, playing, doing simple sport etc . Volunteers' influence on students is expected to create a sense of knowledge of other realities of the disabled kids and other cultures in a way that improves their own perception of themselves and what they can achieve. Also to open the mind of international volunteers that the disabled students also need attention to face their future. It will also give opportunity for the international volunteers about the treatment that should be done by the families of disabled children.

The children, whose fathers or grandfathers were exposed (causing chromosomal damage) or who were contaminated from their mother’s milk, suffer from a range of difficult conditions. While staying in Vietnam Friendship Village, children and veterans are nourished and are provided with free medical care. The children, who may stay there for several years, receive not only basic education, but also some forms of job training.
The Organic Gardening Project was launched in 2004 with the goal of creating islands of a harmonious approach to agriculture within areas of environmental and human devastation - increasing awareness of the consequences of war and, at the same time, demonstrating positive strategies for healing and living. At this moment, the farm is providing about 60% of the village’s consumption of vegetable. It is expected that it will cover all the needs and there will be products left for sale to raise funds for the village.
Volunteers will help with clearing the site, preparing soil, weeding, planting vegetables and fruit trees, cleaning a fish pond and redecorating the flowers in the garden. Additional activities may include planting trees, moving bricks for construction, collecting garbage and playing with the children or exchanging with local volunteers or farmers.
Discussions among the volunteers about Agent Orange, Vietnamese culture, and other social issues will take place during some of the evenings.
In the project from January 25 to February 6, 2010, the volunteers will focus on preparing Tet New Year Festival for the children in the Village. The work then includes redecorating the houses and making of Chung Cake – a traditional cake for this holiday in Vietnam.

It is based in Kisumu which is the third largest city in Kenya. Kisumu has a population of approximately 300,000 and is located on Lake Victoria almost on the Ugandan border. In Kisumu, there are many orphans who, without help, would have no future. Salem Orphanage is a home to about 130 orphans who lost their parents (usually to AIDS) and street children from the slums. There are primarily boys, due to the "preference" for girls as household labor help, and the difficulty for boys to stay at home if their mother marries someone other than their father. At Salem they are loved and cared for well, but the need is still so great.

Volunteer work: Volunteers' major duties include:
• Responsible for day-to-day coordination of the Home to ensure efficient performance of the organization operation
• Cooking for the children, washing the children's clothes and counseling
• Teaching the children sports, drama and theatre
• Farming and making “jikos†(cooking pots)
The volunteers will be working from Monday to Saturday. The number of hours will be decided by the Home management.
Special requirements: The Orphanage requires volunteers with counseling and teaching skills; preferably teachers in Math, English or Science and teachers for early childhood education and nursery schooling. It promotes as well a deep cultural exchange between the local people and international volunteers.
Hi,

I am a local Chicago artist and I am seeking a donor to HELP WITH SHIPPING COSTS for a number of large art pieces that were collaborated on with a local Schindler's List Survivor. The art will be sent to a Holocaust museum in Jerusalem within walking distance from Oskar Schindler's tomb, but the art needs help getting there safely. Here is a chance to get your name on the small list of those who helped bring this very special survivors story to life (or you can remain anonymous) and brought to the surface for our generation and the coming generations. This is even more important with the latest advent at Auschwitz concerning it's sign being damaged and stolen. Generations to come are forgetting faster than history should allow, it is our duty to help, and this last step is all the is needed to tell this compelling story.

Thank you for your generous help and kindness.

He who completes the last step is as if they have complete the thing in it's entirety.

At this time we put aside differences and conflicts and open our minds and hearts to The Spirit Of Peace.

Some of us pray, some meditate, and some do both. Others simply pause in silence for a moment or two. Each follows his or her own Inner Direction.

It is our hope that by taking this time together, wherever we each may be, we will help bring peace and unity to ourselves, our families, communities, and cities.

As a whole, we are not associated with any particular political or religious philosophy or way of life. We come from from many backgrounds with a common vision of peace and good will for all.

As more people participate in a daily, heartfelt moment of silence, surely The Spirit Of Peace will grow and increase among us. Perhaps, if our numbers become large enough, we may one day help bring peace to the World.

We invite you to join us at 12 noon and look forward to being with you in heart and spirit.

Together we an make a difference.

Blessings And Best Wishes To You

P.S. If you know of others who would like to participate, please give or send a copy of this letter to them.

Prevention of Relapse and Recurrence of Bipolar Depression

This is a study of the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of a marketed antidepressant with an FDA-approved mood stabilizer during long-term treatment of bipolar depression.

Bipolar depression is a disorder with few treatment options. Until recently, its treatment has typically been based on unvalidated practice guidelines. We propose that long-term combined therapy with a mood stabilizer and an antidepressant may be superior to a mood stabilizer alone in preventing recurrent symptoms.

Participants who complete the study will receive compensation.

At the end of the study, patients will have the option of receiving additional treatment for three months at no charge, during which time they will be assessed monthly. For subjects who decline the three months of free follow up care, a referral to a psychiatrist will be offered.

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you: Are 18 years of age or older and have no history of alcohol or drug dependence within the last 3 months. This is a partial list of eligibility requirements. To inquire about your eligibility, please call the contact number provided. Sólheimar Eco-Village, founded in 1930, is the first community in the world where the so-called able and disabled people live and work together. Inspired by the theories of Rudolf Steiner, Sólheimar has focused on cultivating both the individual and the environment and it is the first community in Scandinavia to practice organic farming.
Today, Sólheimar (the home of the sun) is a charming village of about 100 inhabitants, renowned for its international, artistic and ecological atmosphere, which prides itself on its varied cultural, social and sporting activities. During the project, other tasks may arise depending on the needs of the community.
The citizens of Illinois deserve better representation in Springfield – an Independent Democrat who is not beholden to special interests or political machines. John Burros believes it is time to end the status quo, and he will fight to reform campaign finance and procurement laws, clean up coal plants responsible for pumping thousands of tons of toxic chemicals into the air, bring jobs and opportunity to struggling neighborhoods, and promote a healthier Illinois.
We are calling on concerned citizens of all stripes to join us and bring the change we need to Illinois. Volunteers in the Burros campaign will reach out and educate the community about the issues and candidates, and empower them to get involved. Together we can build a more honest and responsive government.

I am one of the founders that started a not for profit site to help all injured riders get back on their bike again after an accident. The site has very recently been launched and we are looking to build the base of members and usefull information. So we are looking for several riders that would be interested in adding content to the site every day for a couple of weeks and also sharing stories of any accident they were involved in. We are seeking individuals that would like to help out other bikers out of the generosity of helping other bikers, as this is a not for profit site. The site is www.ride-again, and if you are interested please send me an email at andrewlkass@gmail.com. Thanks and have a very safe and happy New Years!! Together we can make this a great resource for all bikers to get and give advice after an accident!!!

We are an all natural health clinic located in the Gold Coast area of Chicago (one block form the Chicago Red Line stop).
We are looking for general office help for a few hours each Saturday. Duties include general upkeep (clean bathroom, vacuum floors) and some light filing and clerical work.
In exchange we can offer natural medical care - chiropractic services and massages. The basic exchange works out to about $35/hour, but would be paid in services, not cash.

For the right person, this can quickly become a paid position, with additional hours.
This is the time for family reunion and visits to friends and relatives. Like the Christmas and New Year in western countries, people here prepare a lot for this holiday, from renovating their houses, making cakes and a lot of food and drinks. However, in the orphanages, children do not have enough to prepare for their holiday. Most of them stay in the orphanage or centers over the Tet, only some of them go back to their home villages. Thus, there is need to prepare something for those children, so they still have good time and enjoy such big holidays.
In Ho Chi Minh City area, an international workcamp will be set up to prepare Tet holidays in Ky Quang Orphanage and Chua La Orphanage.
Volunteers will help renovating the houses, cleaning the site and making Chung Cake (traditional cake for children in Tet).
Study part: Disadvantaged children in Vietnam
Special requirements: Interest and motivation working with children in difficult situation
Leisure activities: Vietnamese Day, International Day, self-organized city tour and excursions, etc.
Project language: English
Location: Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City
Age range: 18 and over

For more info and enrolment please visit: www.cadip.org/volunteer-in-vietnam.htm

For volunteer opportunities in other countries please step here: www.cadip.org t. 617-502-0400 (US); 604-628-7400 (Canada)

With the holidays and the New Year underway, it is the perfect time to be thankful and ask yourself, “What else can I do?”

Chicago Furniture Recycling Center (CFRC) is a new 501(c)(3) non-profit that is excited to announce we are looking for people that are eager to volunteer. Our passion is to create a better life for those less fortunate. CFRC does this by providing gentle used furniture to families in need, helping to make their house a home.

How can you help? We are looking for people interested in volunteering for events, committees, and our day-today operations. We are seeking volunteers who wish to be an active committee member and help to officially launch CFRC and thereafter. This will provide a unique hands-on opportunity to help build a non-profit from the ground up.

Committees include:
-	Community Outreach and Advocacy Team (COAT)
-	Volunteer Outreach and Coordination
-	Fundraising and Event Planning
-	Technology and New Media
-	Finance

If you want to give back this New Year, we’re holding informational meetings to learn more about each committee on:

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010 at two locations.
Chicago North: Panera 600 W. Diversey Pkwy. Chicago, IL 60641
Chicago Downtown: Au Bon Pain 122 S. Michigan Ave, Chicago 60603
There will be additional dates in January if you are unable to attend on January 6.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more about volunteer opportunities, please email volunteer@mycfrc.org.

Volunteers play an important role in CFRC’s work to provide furniture to individuals and families in need. We welcome all volunteers.

We look forward to seeing you!
This year the hurricane Jimena has lashed the city of Guaymas leaving an important level of rain. 2009 is the year when it rained the most (in the last 50 years) and this caused an important damage to the population of Guaymas and to the city. The hurricane affected people of all backgrounds, leaving a lot of people in the middle of nowhere since they lost everything they had. Everything was affected, public buildings, leisure areas, houses, schools, there was no place that was not affected.
This international volunteer project is organized in order to help in the reconstruction of the city of Guaymas with the support of motivated volunteers. There are many things to be done since there were several areas seriously affected. We need help to clean beaches, to rebuild sportive spaces, to clean up parks and community spaces, to fix roads, to help in rural communities by giving health workshops.
After the hurricane, the children affected don’t have a place to continue their studies, they lost everything they had for their education: material, furniture, the roof collapsed and the walls were damaged because of the water and humidity. For that reason, at this first stage, the goal of the project is renovating and reconstructing two schools damaged by the Jimena Hurricane, so the children affected can return to their educative activities as soon as possible and in a clean and healthy environment, appropriate for their development and with the support of the international volunteers. This project will benefit 25 families for the first school and 180 families for the second school.
Volunteers will help with the reconstruction of the two schools affected. They will help with reconstruction activities such as painting walls, reforestation, and cleaning the schools. They will contribute to renovate these structures through scratching and painting walls, and will also do some artistic work such as painting murals on the walls of the schools with the help of local volunteers with landscapes and thematic appropriate for the children. The volunteers will also help planting trees and reforesting the affected area, making and putting signals and signs.
Age range: 18 and over

For more details visit: www.cadip.org/volunteer-in-mexico.htm or give us a call: 617-502-0400 (US); 604-628-7400 (Canada)

For volunteer opportunities in other countries click here: www.cadip.org

If you were in prison, what would be crucial for you? To know that God and others still care for you! Our ministry encourages followers of Jesus Christ to become a "Pen Friend" to a lonely inmate, by building a friendship with them through "Paper Sunshine" (letters). The sad reality is that many prisoners haven't had a visit or a letter for 10 years or more!

BUT IS IT SAFE? YES! All inmate letters go through our post office box, so they never know where you live. We read all mail from prisoners to insure they're following our guidelines that they've agreed to. Here's a fantastic spiritual bonus. In Matthew 25 Jesus said; "If you've done this (reached out to a prisoner) to the least of these, you've done it to ME. Jesus didn't say that it's like you did it to Him, He said that you've done it TO HIM.

Just give us your regular mailing address and you'll receive our newsletter, statement of faith, the name and introductory letter from the inmate that God's picked out just for YOU! Lord bless you above what you can imagine for your compassion.

Board member needed for non-profit for visually-impaired in Madagascar (Chicago)

MERCI Madagascar
Madagascar Education & Resource Center for the Visually-Impaired
________________________________________
Our mission is to provide support and services to empower visually-impaired people in Madagascar.
According to the World Health Organization, 600,000 people living in Madagascar are blind, of whom 21,600 are children. Five schools for visually-impaired children exist in the island nation, with a total capacity for fewer than 300 students to attend. A lack of education often leaves the visually-impaired completely dependent on their families, without the resources to build an independent life.
Forty percent of blindness in Madagascar is a result of either congenital or acquired cataracts. Cataract surgery, in which the opacity is removed and an intra-ocular lens is inserted into the eye, takes approximately 15 minutes to complete and can cost as little as $50 US. As often occurs in developing world eye care, the major hurdles to treatment for the majority of the population in Madagascar remain access and education.

We plan to address the needs of visually-impaired people in Madagascar at three levels.
1 – Identify cases of cataract in rural and urban communities and make direct referrals to partner hospitals. We will recruit and train “key informants,” community members who volunteer to work as eye health screeners in their local areas. Teams of informants will be supported by medical assistants and nurses in assembling field eye screening camps, providing minor eye care services and referring patients with curable blindness to local eye surgeons.
2 – Early intervention and preparation for children 0-5 years of age. We will offer twice weekly visits to homes of visually-impaired children, and provide specialized training to develop the child’s remaining senses, teach living skills and prepare them for formal education. Once our organization has developed sufficient funding and structure, we plan to found a preparatory school for blind children in Antananarivo, with a focus on training for matriculation into sighted secondary school.
3 – Training adolescents, teens, and adults in life skills. We will approach the visually-impaired in their communities and teach them white cane techniques, daily living skills such as cooking, house work, and shopping independently, and self-sustaining small-scale agriculture. We will also provide counseling services to those who are discouraged with their impairment.
________________________________________
Who We Are:
Alexei Ku is a researcher at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He has a passion for the people of Madagascar and has worked in field hospitals and schools in the Antsirabe region.

Martin Niry lives in Madagascar and has worked in the field of education for the visually-impaired for the past twelve years. His expertise includes community based rehabilitation services, childhood education, finance, and accounting. He clearly sees a need for change and wants to make a difference in his country through MERCI.

Holiniaina Rokotoarisoa is partially-sighted and lives in Madagascar. As a child, she was judged as incapable of studying alongside sighted students, and was thus excluded from mainstream education. She was later accepted to a private school to continue her education, where she continued to struggle to find the resources to study effectively as a visually-impaired student. Having succeeded in educating herself, Holiniaina is driven to improve the situation for children with visual impairment in her country.

Karin Broske is blind and lives in Norway. Facing the realities of living as a visually-impaired person in society has inspired her to help others through her knowledge of adaptive computer technology and life skills education.
________________________________________
We are currently in the embryonic stages of development, and plan to submit for incorporation as a non-profit organization in January. Our formal proposal & budget has been presented at the International Institute of Social Entrepreneurs (IISE), under the auspices of Braille Without Borders.

At this stage, we are recruiting volunteers with legal, accounting, fund-raising, grant-writing, and other non-profit experience (or those who are excited about and dedicated to our concept and aims) to form our Board of Directors.

We welcome your input and would love to get to know you and see how we can work together to launch this group.

We foresee a great future for our organization and a great impact of our programs on the lives of those in Madagascar who cannot see their breathtaking homeland.

Thank you,

This year again the international volunteers will work with the people of Colola village to protect the sea turtles. There are two kinds of turtles that arrive on the beach, the Negra (Black Turtle) and the Golfina (Olive Riddle Turtle). The people involved in the project help by collecting eggs, burying them in the turtle camp, taking care of the baby turtles and doing some work collecting statistical information.
In this frame, a group of international volunteers will be involved in the project as members of the staff, which means that the volunteers will be very involved in the project and the work.
The goal of this project is to protect the turtles and to help run the conservation activities of the turtle protection program, promoting international cooperation and solidarity.
The main work consists in collecting turtle eggs, burying them again in a secure place, and transporting the baby turtles safely to the sea. This will be carried out at night since the turtles do not get out of the ocean during the day (because of their natural predators, it is safer for the turtles go out of the ocean in the dark). Together with the people from Colola Village, the volunteers will seek for the turtles and take care of the eggs and the baby turtles. Local people, who are very friendly, work with the group and explain them what to do.
Very motivated volunteers who really want to get involved in the work for protection of the turtles are needed for this project.
There are also some extra activities to be done with the local people in order to help improve the town such as setting names to the streets of the town or helping to arrange a multi-use playground for the children, and maybe some cleaning work, but this depends on the volunteers' initiative. The people of the town are very open to participate in other activities that the group of volunteers can propose, so any ideas will be welcome.
Language: The official language of the project is English. Some Spanish would be appreciated.
Location: Colola is a small town located on the Michoacan State coast, between Maruata and La Placita towns. It's a remote place that offers an excellent opportunity to be close to nature, on a virgin beach, with no tourism around. The closest city is Tecoman at 200 kilometers, but other villages such as La Placita that are closer (45 minutes by bus) can offer Internet connection.

For more details, please visit: www.cadip.org/volunteer-in-mexico.htm or give us a call: 617-502-0400 (US); 604-628-7400 (Canada)

This project is part of CADIP's International Volunteer Program: www.cadip.org/workcamps.htm

General rules and conditions for participation on our workcamp projects: www.cadip.org

Think of the qualities of a great city - fun, space, clean air, nature, culture - and Reykjavik has them in spades. Reykjavik offers both the features of a modern and innovative society and the marvelous traits of a pristine and unique landscape.
The population of the Reykjavik Area is about 200,000. Reykjavik is spread across a peninsula offering a panoramic view of the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean from nearly every part of the city.
The world’s northernmost capital is framed by the majestic Mt. Esja, which keeps a watchful eye on the city, and the blue waters of Faxafloi Bay. On a sunny day, the mystical Snaefellsjokull glacier towers over the western horizon, while mountainous moonscapes spread to the southeast.
The volunteer work during this project will mostly consist in embellishing the downtown area and helping the local authorities improve the city’s look and atmosphere. Tasks will include cleaning tags and painting old houses. We will be mostly working outdoors giving a hand to the environmental department in taking care of the parks and green areas in the heart of Reykjavík. In addition to that, we might also clean the coastline in the city area.
Project language: English
Age range: 18 and over

More information and enrollment: www.cadip.org/volunteer-in-iceland.htm

For volunteer opportunities in other countries please go to: www.cadip.org or give us a call: 617-502-0400 (US); 604-628-7400 (Canada)
