Media Relations Correspondent P/T for student or other (West Loop)
Bird-X, Inc. is now accepting applications for students or others looking for a flexible 6-12+ month paid internship. Students with experience in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or Journalism are asked to submit a resume and letter of interest to dkogan@bird-x.com for consideration to fill the position of Media Relations Correspondent.
The ideal applicant will:
· know what a print journalist wants from a source
· write well (clear and concise)
· be a sharp, flexible, quick learner
· be an organized, effective and creative communicator.
Our industry - humane bird and pest control - gets news coverage in print hundreds of times each week (i.e. bird droppings corroding steel on bridges, bats in eaves, crows eating grain, Canada geese infesting a park or golf course, woodpeckers damaging houses.)
Usually the journalist does NOT mention our company. We want this coverage! The intern – working as our media relations consultant - will send emails and post comments about the story, positioning Bird-X, Inc. as the industry leader in humane bird control.
This internship is 6-12 months (can be extended) and college credit may be available.
Your flexible schedule will include 2-3 or more days working in our office (300 N. Elizabeth St. – near Ashland Green line) totaling anywhere from 15-25 hrs per week. You make your own schedule between 8a.m. and 5p.m. (Additional hours may be available for related projects.)
