This unique position involves copyediting, proofreading, and typesetting journals and newsletters for ALA divisions, offices, and round tables. Additional duties include creating brochures, bookmarks, posters, and other collateral materials as well as designing and maintaining Web sites. The Production Editor will help ensure all publications and projects meet ALA's high editorial, design, and production standards.
A minimum of two years related experience and a Bachelor's degree is required. Ideal candidates will have strong graphic design, page layout, copyediting, and proofreading skills. Candidates must posses a strong sense of design in addition to the ability to work within deadlines while maintaining strict attention to detail. Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and the Chicago Manual of Style are critical. Candidates must be proficient in using InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator in a Windows environment. Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, Dreamweaver, Flash, and PHP are pluses.
Starting salary from $35,000; negotiable based on experience.
