Primary Purpose: This person writes for and assists in the production of an award-winning print magazine, an e-newsletter targeted to young professionals, broadcast emails, and more. The position will also provide back-up for the department’s graphic design team.
Demonstrated Qualifications
1. BA English Literature or Journalism
2. 2 years min. writing, editorial and/or publications experience
3. Knowledge of Quark Xpress and Adobe Photoshop.
4. FrontPage experience a plus
5. Proficient in: Microsoft XP, MS Office, HTML
6. Knowledgeable of Internet, World Wide Web and Search Engines
7. Accuracy, detail orientation and excellent follow through
8. Excellent proofreading skills
9. Excellent organization skills. Ability to work on several projects simultaneously, and meet multiple deadlines.
10. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with staff and members at all levels.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Editorial
o Seen & Heard research/writing
o Article writing
o Columnist and new writer research
o Query correspondence
o Proofreading
2. Design
o Back-up for Publications & Creative Services graphic design team
3. Production
o Proofing checklist coordination prior to printing
o Production schedule updates and monitoring
o Ad proof checks
4. Advertising
o Advertiser art collection, tracking, contact
5. Online Publications
o INSIGHT broadcast email preparation
o HYPE editorial research and production
o INSIGHT Online checks and approval to publish
6. Reprints
o Answering inquiries
o Issuing/receiving forms
o Logging reprint requests and payment
o Distributing quarterly reports on reprint activity
