Company history:
The George P. Bent Piano Company was established in Louisville, Kentucky in 1878 as an organ manufacturer. In 1889 they moved to a larger facility at 289 Wabash Avenue, Chicago, Illinois where they made their first piano which they named the "CROWN" model. This was a piano that was very well respected in the musical community because of its wonderful tone and beautiful cabinets. As the economy started to get bad in the late 1920's, the company was sold to the Winter Piano Company in 1927. Winter immediately discontinued the George Bent name in 1927 and added the CROWN name to their line of instruments.
This hybrid piano/organ has storage space behind the upper facade, as all the organ workings are in the lower half.

Included is the ornate stool with claws and crystal balls. The outside two pedals are alternately pumped to produce an excellent quality organ sound.

Measures 48" long by 24" wide by 26" tall made from Tiger Oak/ This desk top was used to by the store accountant/bookkeeper to register order forms and then place them in the appropriate filing space in the drawer below

As you can see it has a double section where the function would take place with glass tops for writing and a wire display to hang the orders on.

There are 2 pullout drawers on each side/ one for keeping writing instruments and other items and the lower drawer to use as a filing system

Back in the mid 50's my brother Don and I were HUGE fans of the legendary Davy Crokett movie, starring Fess Parker and Buddy Ebson (before "The Beverly Hillbillys") Our mom and dad somehow got us two genuine coonskin caps, with, get this, DETACHABLE TAILS! That's right, each tail is attached by a gripper. Ah, technology! These are both XL kid sizes, and will not fit adults. Both are in excellent shape. The only defect is that the one I wore has the lining seperated from the outside band. (see pic) Two minutes with a sewing machine will easily fix that. You just don't see these anymore, and it's a wonderful snippet of 1950's Americana. I'm selling them for $25.00 each. To purchase these hats, you need to come to my house in Maywood. In the mid 1980s I was the lead guitarist and bandleader for the Surf legends Jan & Dean. We played all over the world and were endorsed by such companies as Nike, Ocean Pacific (OP) and VANS. VANS was by far the coolest and custom made our foot gear. I left the band in 1986 and stowed away a pair of the VANS worn by me on stage five or six times. They are blue and orange and a size 13D. Unfortunately, Jan Berry died a few years ago. Dean Torrence still lives in LA. I have spoken to the other band members and no one has a pair left. This is the ONLY PAIR, and they are unique.
