I need to print 5 to 8 pictures at 11x14" or thereabouts, and possibly frame them (if the price is right). I thought of doing it over at Fedex or Walgreens or whoever does printing, but then it occurred to me that I may as well give this as a small gig to a local freelancer.

I already have the files, I believe they do not need to be retouched. What I need is 5 to 8 photo quality prints (from .png or .pdf) of 11"x14" or thereabouts. Please give me your rates, and the mark/type of the printer and the paper that you're going to use.

Please give me a price estimate on framing, if you can frame them.

The pictures will be displayed in a private gallery.

I need this done no later than 6pm Sunday.

Need help preparing my creative for printing (chicago)

I am preparing a baby book to be printed by a printer off in China, and I need some help making the final preparations (saving the file in the correct format, adding necessary extra for bleed, adding crop marks, info where folds should be, etc.). I also may need help adding the title and ISBN since I only know Photoshop and I believe this may need to be done in Illustrator in order for it to be crisper. I myself have been in publishing for ten years but have never actually prepared my own creative. I will have my final files ready in about a week or two, and will just need some help in getting it printer-ready.

Is there a professional out there that can help me out. I will obviously pay you for your time. Just let me know what your experience is (samples would be nice to see) and what is your quote for doing this. (Btw, it should be a lot easier than an actual "book" since this book that I am making is accordian style - therefore it will consist of printing a front and a back and in the end having the printer fold back and forth.)

Hi, my name is Sebastian Alvarez and I am a performance art grad student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. At the moment I am working on a video project about men weeping.
Here is a little background information:

I have been researching for images that portray men weeping or grieving in any form. While doing this, I mostly found photographs of middle eastern men in despair around war scenarios, anguished soldiers , and a few other rarities. On the other hand, I found stylized photographs of actors performing sadness and grieve in different sets (like the photo series by Sam Taylor-Wood). As a result, I have become interested in the construction of this fictional and non-fictional images. One of my objectives is to compose and accumulate moving images of men crying in different ways to create a short video as the beginning of a wider research about the lack of these images in our hegemonic visual society. A society that and prescribes and influences our understanding of gender (masculinity in this case) in a very limited and distorted way.
To whom it may concern,

The initial part of this project involves a dialogue with the you about the patriarchal cultural taboos that prevent a proper healthy expression of grief in man (if necessary) . The conversation can take place either in a studio or in a space where they feel safe to be documented crying.
A frontal close-up shot is not necessary in case the you do not want to disclose your identity. They can use a song, a movie scene, literature or anything that elicits tears.

Since I am in a student budget, I cannot afford for payment and i am working on a volunteering bases. For now I can only offer documentation when the project is edited, credit, stipends(if any), and dinner ( if you find it appropriate).
You can sign a release form so that your image can be used for artistic purposes (presentations/video installations).

Unfortunately, I do not have my website up to share some of my work, but i can make a little presentation if you decide to participate.

For now, I WILL BE SHOOTING SATURDAY 19 in the AFTERNOON IF YOU ARE AVAILABLE.

The story:
When my grandfather returned home from world war 2, he set out to invent a candy bar. He ended up building a chocolate factory and made all sorts of chocolate dipped confections with great success, but he never actually achieved his dream of developing his own candy bar. As a chef, I simply can't resist the challenge. So I've been working on a special recipe for a chocolate bar that I want to market here in chicago. With a little luck and success, it would be great to then take it national.

The objective:
I need help developing brand identity and package design for a chunky chocolate confection that I wish to retail.

Target market:
Targeting adults (baby boomers and their kids). Chocolate lovers. People willing to pay a little more for a better quality product. Maybe we should tap into their childhood memories. Who doesn't want to feel like a kid again?

Notes:
It's a gourmet/artisan chocolate bar that will be made by hand (at first) and will contain chocolate, nuts and marshmallows...plus some other secret things. I'm gifted in the art of making things taste really good (foodwise)...and you are gifted in the art of making things look very attractive (designwise)! I'm in the brainstorming process, and realize the importance of branding. I'm looking for a talented illustrator with creativity and vision to help me develop a brand identity. If you are business savvy and have other things to offer as well, I will even consider a partnership with you.

To give you an idea the direction I'm heading with the design (although I'm open to all suggestions right now); Think nostalgic. Think classic. Think vintage european chocolate posters/ads. Think Al Capone dressed to the nines with a tommy gun in one hand, chocolate in the other. Think rocky road. Think chunks. Think of everything but what's already out there. There is a lot of competition in the chocolate world these days. This bar must stand out in a crowd to sell.

My name is Clint and I started a local t-shirt company here in Chicago called Scared Panda(http://scaredpanda.com). Last week we released our first ever t-shirt, the Tamale! Tamale!(http://scaredpanda.com/t-shirts/tamale-tamale/) design and want to get started on our second t-shirt. To do that, we are gonna need your help.

I moved to Chicago in 2006 and one of my favorite things to do is explore the city. But more than that, I like to share my experiences and perspectives with other people, listen to theirs and try to see the city through their eyes. I created Scared Panda to team up with local designers and artists and show off their local perspectives on the city. Of course part of that is giving back to the community. Each designer gets to choose a local charity of their choice to give 10% of the profit from the shirt they design.

So this is where you come in. What does Chicago mean to you? What do you see when you think of Chicago? Got a great idea and/or design that you�ve always thought would be great for a t-shirt?

Let's be fair, this person does offer compensation, he says: "negotiable".

That is the way it's done in our profession, you submit samples of your work to see if the prospective client wants to work with you, you even offer ideas so he/she gets an idea of how you think and where you'd go with his product, it's called a "sales pitch", we sometimes even make sample ads to impress a prospect.
Then it's up to us, the "suppliers" to come up with an estimated price, to let him know what it will cost him if he chooses to use our services.
At that point, the prospect says "yes" or "no" or we "negotiate" and life goes on.
Before starting the job, we get 1/3 or half up front and the rest upon completion of the project to the satisfaction of the client.

I would say that the post you refer to has not violated this ethic.

I think that one of the biggest problems we face here is that people who want our services are not aware of the mechanics and worse yet, that Craigslist deletes any attempt to educate them, I've noted that whenever someone posts informative comments, they get deleted.

And then, of course, there are the usual arrogant demeaning cheapskates, but they don't belong in this post.

Seeking talented Maya modeler (Telecommuting OK)

We are a design studio and model shop seeking a skilled 3d modeler to perform modifications to a Maya model which would make it printable on a 3d printer. The model is just shells modeled for rendering at the moment, but it needs to have mass so it can be physically built.

You will need to be able to work with large Maya originals. Also proficient with thickening a mesh, add/remove details and break out a couple pieces, as well as add geometry (ribs) to the interior for rigidity in the final print. Pieces which are separated will need to have keys added so they can be accurately reassembled when printed. Be able to push/pull polys as well as NURBS surfaces. This particular job entails all of the above. The original mesh is clean, but not completely uniform. This is high-profile work tailored for someone interested in industrial design and mechanical, geometric shapes.

Please respond if you have professional experience with Maya and believe you have the time to complete this project in a timely fashion (days, not weeks or months). Also, you must to be willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement and work in private. Serious candidates only please have a portfolio to show. We are looking to screen a series of short films of local filmmakers at an event in the upcoming year. If your film is chosen, it'll screen before a feature film of our choosing - basically your film will be the previews. :-) Not only will this event screen some of your films but it's a huge networking opportunity for filmmakers to get excited and create projects with one another. Have a script but don't have a camera? Have a camera without a script? Regardless, it's about getting together and creating something/anything!
