Chicago was my home. My sons are there. I made a huge mistake and moved to St Louis for a woman. It didnt work, I lost almost all I had. I hung on to a job here, but was laid off...I have no reason to stay and EVERY reason to get back to Chicago. I dont know what i can do to get back there. Hey all you Chicago landlords out there. what is your deal!!, You guys do not participate in the credit reporting process yet you all rely on it heavily when evaluating a prospective tenent. All you are going to find on a person's credit report is their retail credit history, which has very little to do with their rental history .

Just because someone has had trouble with retail creditors does not mean that they did not pay their rent on time or managed to get it paid.. Thus, retail credit history tells you nothing. On the other hand, if you landlords would post a tenents rental payment history, then you might have something to go one.

For instance, I lived at an address for five years and was never late with a rental payment and the landlord posted nothing to my credit report for the five year period. But when I informed him that I was moving, there was some confusion about the last months rent, so he posted that I owed him an entire months rent and ruined my credit. This is wrong. I think it's on you landlords to initiate a new system of reporting rental payment history, so that when someone applies for one of your apartments, you check their RENTAL PAYMENT HISTORY, WHICH SHOULD BE SEPERATED FROM RETAIL CREDIT HISTORY,

I've been searching for an apartment for quite some time now, and it's getting the best of me, because as many apartments that I KNOW are available in the Oak Park area, NOT ONE of them will deal with a person that has a housing voucher?? That's terrible. And I am fully aware of why most people are afraid or reluctant to deal with someone from a government funded program, however, it is good to keep an open mind and know that all people in these types of programs are NOT bad people.
Hopefully, someone will read this post, and get in touch with me, and I will be more than happy to tell you all the things you may want to know about the program. The Section-8 program is merely a program that "ALLOWS" individuals with limited income assistance so that they too can have a chance at living in decent environment. & that's all that I am trying to do as well. Before I moved to forest park 3yrs ago, I lived in Oak Park. My daughter went to Holmes school, Irving school, and Longfellow school. (So I am familiar with the areas of the village .) The good thing about taking a tenant from the Housing Voucher program is your rent is GUARANTEED to be paid to you on time every month. My fianc� and I have been looking for a house to rent for quite some time now. Our lease is up for our apartment in the next few weeks and really do not want to pay for an extra month if we can get out now. Right now it is only my fianc� working as a construction worker with his dad. We can afford $700-$750 a month and still be able to pay our own utilities.
