I'm in my mid-20s, responsible, with a super stable 8-5, and I keep pretty busy. I'm an out lesbian, apolitical and low-key. so of course I need that to not be an issue for my roommates. After work, I take a courses at the city colleges (biology, mostly) as well as recreational classes in things like cooking, banjo, figure drawing, beer. Like, this winter, I�m taking some classes at Old Town and maybe Fire Arts, if my academic schedule allows for it, and I�m always off seeing nerdy talks or dance performances, volunteering, stuff like that. I�m not around a ton, but when I am I like to hang out, play old NES, have a couple friends over for beer and dinner (I love to cook), read, take pictures, write, and paint (poorly - I love it but have no idea what I'm doing).

I have no communal furniture, but I don't mind pitching in for some if necessary, and I can contribute: some kitchen stuff; a few scratchy Dylan records; a chunky, sweet-natured cat (for whose care & litter I take full responsibility); some minor appliances I can bring or leave at my brothers' house (TV, convection oven, rowing machine [haha - no, really] turntable, sewing machine, ice cream maker); and a dinky but functional darkroom setup. I'm optimistic; chill (if not a bit on the quiet side); friendly, and just love people; a direct communicator; and the big sister of a ton of brothers (who are cool and visit sometimes - we get along really well), so I know how to live with others and roll with the punches. In fact, I prefer to live with other people. I'm (mostly) past hardcore partying, especially during the week, but am absolutely easy going on the weekends or with the occasional, advanced-notice Tuesday night bash.

I'm looking for roommates who are fiscally responsible and have steady income; open-minded; cooperative/respectful of each other; chill; friendly; not passive-aggressive; like living with other people; cool with hanging out but also have their own lives; not bringing the party home after, like, eleven during the work-week, etc. I'm cool with any race, religion, gender, sexuality, etc.

I�d like to move in 12/1, but I can be flexible for the right situation. Neighborhoods I like: Lincoln Square, Greek Town, Ukrainian Village, Bucktown, Tri-Taylor, Pilsen. Not too hot on Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Uptown, Edgewater, Logan Square, or Rogers Park unless you and your place are truly awesome. I�d like to be near the el and a Laundromat, and to have wi-fi available. Extra points if you�re near the loop, The Map Room, or The Old Town School of Folk Music on Lincoln Avenue. A small theatre company needs an open space for 6 weeks of rehearsals in early 2010. Any sort of open space is suitable for us, as long as there is an even floor, 10' ceilings, and around 20' x 20' of space. An empty storefront, empty loft, or even a garage would be perfect.

We would only use the unit an average of 20 hours per week, and will be respectful of the space. When we have done this in the past, neighboring tenants did not even know we were using the space, as we make every effort to preserve the serenity of a community. So, I'm moving back to Chicago in a month from Boulder, Colorado and want to find a place with some real character. I started by looking through rooms on Craigslist and was just not finding the kind of places I wanted in my price range (950 max). When I started looking at 2-3 BRs without roommates, however, I began to find some great options. I'm starting to think the best way to go about this is to find a roommate (or roommates) first and then find the apartment together. All of my friends in the city are already settled down so it looks like I'm going with Craigslist. It makes sense anyway since I think it's just as important to have cool roommate(s) you mesh with as it is to have a good-looking place.

A LITTLE ABOUT WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR: I am seeking a private room and bath in someone�s apartment/condo/house. It can be a roommate situation, your extra guest room or a sublet kind of thing; maybe you travel a bit and just like to have your home occupied. I have just recently moved to Chicago from Los Angeles after 9 years (originally from the East Coast and lived in NYC before that). I have traded my car to go back to an urban, mass transit life, which I am absolutely loving it here by the way. There are so many things to do here in the city, I am just drinking in all the culture.

I am looking for a non-smoking, drug-free, pet-free home (I'm allergic to cats). I am not a big party person so would not be bringing people over or anything like that, though a nice small dinner gathering once in awhile is a nice thing. I'm incredibly respectful of other peoples� spaces. I seek both a friendly atmosphere to be around and also a bit of a quiet environment as well. Kitchen access and internet connection would naturally be helpful. I am flexible with the the duration of the lease. A semi-furnished room with a bed is preferred. I don't really have furniture, mostly just clothes. It has been a very divinely inspired move and 'letting go' in many ways.

My ultimate goal living in Chicago is to be able to walk no more than 1-2 blocks to an El stop, have a bus right outside the front door, movie theaters within a five minute walk, steps to Whole Foods, and a short walk into the major part of downtown (well during the warmer months of course!) and a nice rooftop deck. Hey now, one can dream big right? Actually what I have learned in the past couple of months as I had a little sublet (since Sept., which ends this month), is that being one block away from a major CTA route and grocery store of some kind is a wonderful thing, and within about 15-20 minutes train ride to downtown is really nice. I've been living off Chicago & Damen, and while I would actually love to be even a little closer to downtown, I am open to anywhere along a major bus route/El stop, my needs are simple, I am appreciative and grateful just to be here.

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF: I am female in my thirties, originally from the East Coast. Educated with a BA and an MFA, I have both corporate and creative work experiences in my background. I am a kind, caring, neat, quiet and considerate individual. I'm spiritual, yet incredibly professional and down-to-earth. Friendly and outgoing, I can also be a bit on the quiet side too. Hello, my finace' is starting grad school in January at SAIC in downtown Chicago and our timeframe for moving is the beginning of next month until the start of the New Year.
