We can remain at the lake until we no longer wish to shiver and desire to return to the warmth of the fireplace. once back in front of the fireplace we can continue to celebrate with good drinks or nothing at all, just simple cozy conversation until the wee hours of the New Year.

So, let’s get right down to business. As a result of my group discussion with a mutli-cultural group of 12 polished and educated men (e.g., African-American, Caucasian, Hispanic, and Asian), we all seem to have come to a consensus that most ads posted by women reflect the following characteristics (and well-deserved criticisms):
1. “The Rebounder:” These are ads that reveal to readers that its female author has just gone through some recent pain by just breaking up with her boyfriend of X period of time. In some grandiose fashion, she now finds it necessary to pursue her hero, her savior, someone that can fill the void she’s left with, on Craigslist! How about taking some time off for herself? Learn more about how she possibly contributed to the breakdown of the relationship. This is quite interesting because women often complain about NOT wanting a guy that is rebounding from a recent relationship.
2. “The Brief Ad:” These are ads that are quite simply… brief! Two – three sentences long! Hmmm. How much information can be obtained from a personals ad that only has two to three freaking sentences? They tend to leave readers with a very abstract notion that the author can leave her potential man with some sort of pleasure?? And that if the man reading the ad appreciates a girl that is classy, blah, blah, blah…. How effective is an ad like this one? Mouse click (“next).
3. “The BBW Ad:” Okay. I’m not on here in no way, shape, or form to be offensive. While we all agree that there is someone out there for everyone, when posting a black and white plain old ad, its all about the stats people! The damn stats! Height, pants size, weight, etc!! If you already know that men are visual creatures, then take heed! All these ads need to go on a honey diet! That is to say that if these non-descriptive ads are to vinegar as real ads with stats are to honey, you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar! One other note: “Thick” = BBW as well. Stop kidding yourself!
4. “The Ad Poster with Pics of the Horizon / Nature:” Lame! You took the effort to go through the upload process in order to post an image of anything but yourself? For a personals ad? You’re kidding. Right? You can have a plethora of detailed information in your ad, but when we see that pic of the horizon, it just killed the ad! Makes you wonder if any of what you wrote is true. Next!
5. “The Multi Ad Poster:” Stop it already! You’re just hogging bandwidth on the network! These are ads with slightly different titles (especially, the age and neighborhood), but the same, lame copy/paste content!
6. “The Obnoxiously Needy Ad Poster:” She has way too many commas in her list of requirements, and appears to yet offer so little in return. Stats please!! Next!
7. Let me interrupt these observations to address something about many (NOT all) black women seeking men from any other culture but their own. First and foremost, there is NOTHING, I repeat, NOTHING wrong with it as my group of counterparts and I agree. HOWEVER, many of the ads posted on Craigslist read in a way that leaves the reader with the understanding that an obvious tone is being made. As a black man, I have some experience and insight into many of these unique and varied desires/motives that “some” black women have when it comes to interracial dating. Love is blind. No doubt about that! But, if you’re one of the many black women who apparently continues to have challenges in understanding what you want in a man, what you are bringing to a relationship, how you may be getting in your own way, and to your displeasure, you happen to keep getting the same disappointing results with black men; then guess what the problem is? No matter whom you decide to date going forward (Caucasian, Hispanic, Asian, Indian, etc), you’re still faced with the same challenges. Time for some reflection here. The 2006 movie, “Something New,” with Sanaa Lathan and Simon Baker was just that – a damn movie. Quit it with the delusions of grandeur!
8. “The Sophisticated Ad Poster:” See number 2 above.
Before I conclude here, I know some of you reading this ad are probably disappointed that it was not posted in the “rants and raves” section. My only question to you is this: If I were an advertising executive that was marketing May Kay cosmetics, would a more effective ad be posted on huge department store marquee, or on your license plate frame?
This is simply an effort to make the Craigslist personals section more effective for real people looking for the relationship opportunity they seek and deserve.

You should single, close in age, honest, kind, decent, and also interested in meeting someone for a long term relationship. After communicating a little I am sure each of us would be able to determine if there is potential and reason to continue doing so.

Aside from the whole being-a-graduate thing, I'm also an avid movie buff, music buff, and food buff. I drink when I feel like it (no, I'm not a fucking alkie; I got priorities). I listen to everything under the sun, except for popular music, including, but not limited to country, heavy metal, progressive rock, anything from the 60's-80's (except the Doors), punk, rap, hip-hop, and, yes, even a bit of country. I listened to heavy metal for, like, 6 straight years before I understood that most music is beautiful. I've, also, finally been getting the whole indie thing, to some extent. Some shit is still pretty funky to me. I do the whole movie thing, too. I love horrors and dramas. A fine comedy will do, as well. Action can kiss my ass, for the most part. Except for anything that Arnie is in. Oh, and if it's made by the Cohen Brothers, there is a damn good I've seen +10 times. Yeah, bit of a nerd for those two.
I tend to think my nerdery doesn't only extend to movies. Video games are huge. Yes, I do have a life, but I'm a guy, so what do you expect? I love goofing off. Walking around the city making fun of people is always good, too. Busting balls is a great pastime. The whole being cute and cuddling thing is a lot of fun, too, with the right girl. Riding bikes, drinking on the beach at 2 in the morning, watching shitty c-films, and exploring is great, too. Especially, at new restaurants and unexplored neighborhoods.
