COVERS are what put asses in the seats, people want to hear stuff they know, I've seen cover bands @ groucho's and it was always a good turnout, i'm in a cover band and we always pack 'em in. I don't wear make-up nor will i ever. I just love strange and creepy music. I have been playing guitar and singing for over 10 years. I have been in love with horror movies and scores my entire life. I also really enjoy putting on an amazing live show that people remember. Fuck the radio, fuck nickelback, and all bands like them. I am not a trend follower, nor am I hear to get rich off of music. I simply am a musician, artist, and fan. Oh, I'm really easy going so don't get the wrong idea. I drink, smoke and have fun, but am not an addict. I am a guitarist singer in my mid-forties and of course am familiar with much of the music of the era. I have tons of solo, duo and band experience. If you just play guitar or just play bass � that�s cool. Or even if you play piano. I was in one duo for 7 years with the same person � he then we both got married and he moved away. These days I know the big thing is every body has 10 projects going on and its rare that anyone works with the same person. Full-Band Vocal Workshop

Bands with better singing get better crowd response. Bands with great
harmonies do even better. Conventional voice lessons (which I also offer)
are a great foundation, but some singers need help integrating vocal
training into practical performance situations.

I'm offering a full-band vocal workshop, which includes one-on-one vocal
technique instruction for each singing band member, vocal arrangement
consultation, and integrated vocal/instrumental rehearsal with the full
band.

One of the bands with whom I'm working opened for
Dashboard Confessional this spring, and Richard Milne
from WXRT calls their vocals "angelic." They work their butts off in the band.
Getting help with their vocals - both lead and backing - is
one of the ingredients to the opportunities they've made for
themselves.

If you're serious about getting out of playing the same old
dives that everyone on Craigslist complains about, your
band's vocals - all of them - need to be great. Not "good
enough,"but great.

Workshops can be held in your practice space or at an hourly rental space,
Monday through Thursday between 10am and midnight. Workshops are $120
for a 3-hour session with bands with 2-4 vocalists.

I mean, we know that some of you who are reading this ad right now are absolute bada** guitar players. There has to be. Somewhere in this city. I mean like everyone and their uncle play guitar. PLEASE contact us. I can't think of one good reason why you wouldn't want to be in a band that by all accounts put on one of the greatest hard rock shows in the city with twists and turns in the songs, guitar solos up the wazoo, killer riffs, other musicians who are all virtuosos, but carry NONE of the attitude that usually comes along with that.
Where are you hiding? I mean, god damnit, answer this ad already. I mean is this city so backward up the a** that everyone is so genre specific that a prog/metal/punk, etc. act that kills doesn't appeal to them because they're listening to their Nickelback MP3's?
Is everyone so freakin' lazy that they prefer sitting on their couch practicing Eric Johnson covers rather than playing in a pro killer hard rock band that is cerebral, nice, and fun, books great shows at great places, has great tunes/riffs, and cares enough to place their ads a 1,000 times to find YOU???
I mean, c'mon. We've heard the horror stories from people who have auditioned about going to auditions way out in the suburbs, where everyone is scowling, like 50, and is half the time a cover act fresh out of the garage.
We are the opposite of that. We play all the biggest clubs, with all the best bands, practice in the most relevant practice spot in the city (as far as with quality bands), everyone is under 40, and has played the scene and knows it like the back of their hand.
Us not giving up in finding you has to mean something. We are gigging because we know enough players in other bands to cover the role, but we are looking for YOU. Please, please, PLEASE turn your music career around and get into the act that blows aways clubs, creates and creates more tunes, and then goes places beyond.

I'm actually a metal guitarist by trade, go figure. I also am a pretty decent fretless bassist and would love to keep my chops fresh and gig out while I'm practicing with my new "real" band. I've played quite a few of the clubs downtown, have a great ear, can read chords or notation, and have a solid pocket with the ability to take the lead (though I'm not Jaco, unfortunately). Ideally, you're either a band with paid gigs looking for a bassist to jump on, or you're in a similar position to me looking to start a side project, with gigging as the ultimate short term goal. I'm flexible and open to any genre as long as you're gigging and understand what I'm out to accomplish, though a straight-ahead jazz, fusion, or rock cover band band would be preferable.

Hello groovy kids....We are The Brightons (www.myspace.com/thebrightonsmusic) We are moving into town in January and look to hit the ground running...In order to achieve this we will need the help of a solid drummer. We play 60's and 70's inspired original songs and do a few collective covers...We sound something like a mash up of T.Rex, David Bowie, The Doors, The Stones, The Beatles, Zeppelin, Cream, and The Kinks. We are aged 22-25.

What we have- Our own van, practice space, PA, and pro attitude and pro gear, and gigging experience galore.

What you need- A drum set and the ability to keep a beat....a love of the 60's is optional.

Not to be agist but if you are over 35 it might become an issue....we are looking to practice 2 or 3 times a week and gig out at least every 9 days. So if you have a full time job, a family, or no desire to really pursue music as a career we may butt heads a bit.

So I am a guitarist of 8 years. 21 years old. I am looking for another guitarist first and foremost but I am overall looking for everything. Degreed piano instructor with 20+ years experience is now accepting piano students. From young children to adult, I will help you build a solid foundation based on strong hand technique, strong reading skills, and overall musicianship (theory, timing, etc).
I take personal accountability that my students will steadily progress, gain a detailed understanding of what they�re learning, and be able to apply all this during performances, auditions, and contests. To me, teaching music lessons is similar to the job of a sports coach�to make sure each student maximizes their potential and bypasses what they thought was possible of themselves. I have a firm belief and understanding that my influence on a student goes far beyond what they learn musically. For all parents, I understand teachers are role models, and I accept this responsibility with open arms (in addition, I am a parent myself).
