About the McGaw YMCA Children's Center:
The McGaw YMCA Children's Center has a full range of programs designed to meet the diverse needs of the Evanston community. The specific needs and interests of children come first in the development of each classroom’s curriculum. We use The Y’s Way to Creative Curriculum for Infants and Toddlers, the talents, abilities, and teaching skills of the staff, the resources within our YMCA and Evanston community and the latest research on how children learn best, to put together an exciting program. Our six core content areas are: literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, arts, technology, health, social and moral development.
Children also enjoy some additional features, including: weekly swim lessons by YMCA certified swim instructors, fitness and gym activities at the main YMCA, and a music program sponsored by Northwestern University. In combination with The Y’s Way to Creative Curriculum, our teachers use Evanston/Skokie School District 65 Early Learning Standards to ensure school readiness.
