Job Summary
Brella Productions, a new-media production company located in Evanston, is seeking a full time Media Production Linguist to start immediately. Candidate must be fluently multilingual, a student of languages and ideally have some translation experience. We are a strongly team-oriented workplace where the ability to enjoy the work while playing well with others is extremely important.
Our ideal Media Production Linguist must be fluent or a native speaker in Spanish and English, highly proficient in one of the following - Portuguese, French, Japanese and/or Chinese, as well as one other major language. They should also have great organization skills, the ability to track multiple projects at once, and an eye (and ear) for all the details. They must be upbeat, motivated, computer literate and ready to work in a productive and friendly workplace.
Job Description
Assist with translation coordination of outside translators, voice talent and copyproofers on multiple simultaneous projects
Be able to research regionalisms within languages
Be able to proof projects in multiple languages
Have a strong desire and ability to learn new languages
Balance multiple demands and deadlines
Help project managers organize projects, schedule deadlines and maintain documentation
Review and help to break out scripts/storyboards in multiple languages
Assist project managers with testing of video/multimedia/web projects
Assist with foreign language recording sessions
Facilitate communication with clients to assist project managers when they are not available
Skills
Spanish & English fluency required.
Near fluency in two or more additional languages (one of the following required: Portuguese, French, Japanese and/or Chinese).
Prior translation experience is a strong plus
Extremely detailed oriented
Exceptional organizational skills
Very good writing, computer and phone skills
Highly skilled in Microsoft office products
Able to set and maintain both short and long term deadlines
Able to takes notes, self manage and follow through on complex projects
Able to say no in a warm and friendly way
Able to troubleshoot difficult or sensitive problems and find positive solutions
Interested in learning new skills/methods and devising innovative solutions
Educational & Prior Job Qualifications
1+ year of related professional experience and a college degree or 4+ years of related professional experience.
Experience or degree in video or multimedia production, marketing, translation, language studies, or writing.
Experience in the Medical Profession highly desired.
Compensation
Starting Pay: $16-20 an hour depending on skills and experience
