Chicago Photography Classes offers a one-day Boot Camp, from 10:00am to 4:30pm. Or 5:00pm, or maybe 6. (how passionate are you to learn?)

This Boot Camp is for people with a DSLR camera or for people who are thinking about buying one. If you don't have a camera, we will provide you with a Nikon D-80 (or better) and with a fast lens (you will learn what that means). The camera has a Depth-of-Field preview button and the Lens has a Depth-of-Field Scale which is the only way to learn about how to have in focus, the parts of your image you want in focus. Please bring your camera manual if you have one. If not, don't worry. Be happy. We will teach you what you need to know.

This is a workshop for people just starting out. Our motto: "The less you know, the better we like it." We won't have to un-learn you. In the morning, Richard will go over digital camera settings, he will also help you understand "correct exposure" and than, the "how and why" of shutter speeds. The subtleties of aperture (f-stops) and Depth-of-Field (focus) will be explained. You will also learn to understand and use the, "language" of photography. Then you will go outside and shoot two assignments in the neighborhood, so wear your boots.

Durning your working lunch, we will help you understand the subtle differences of cameras and between camera manufactures. Also which cameras are a best buy "used" if you choose to try and save some money. Richard has had, in his hands, every Film SLR and DSLR camera that has been made in the last five decades, (starting 1965).

We have both desktop and laptop computers, PC's & New iMAC's for you to use in our Computer Lab. In the afternoon, you will learn how to save your images and print with archival, ink jet printers. You may print as many, 6" X 9" photographs, on 8-1/2" X 11" archival paper, as time allows. A review of your notes and a critique at the end of the day will help you understand what you did right�and�wrong with your pictures.

Special bonus: After you've completed this workshop, you will be entitled to call Richard with questions for the rest of his life. ;-)

I have been teaching drums for over 30 years, while playing professionally and recording. I specialize in drum set lessons for ALL types of music. I teach my students to THINK like a drummer, then they can play what they THINK! I accomplish this with special exercises that focus your mind and body on 4-limb coordination. These exercises are unlike ANYTHING ELSE you will find! Every time you work these exercises you WILL ADVANCE in your playing and confidence - this I guarantee! I have been playing electronic drums for over 10 years, and you will learn all that you can do with electronic drums - like no one else can show you! We will also work on the music you want to play, drum setup tips, playing live, recording, even starting or joining a band...

I have over 4 years of experience teaching English to adults from countries all over the world such as: South Korea, Argentina, Italy, etc. I have taught at all levels from beginning to advanced and can help with grammar, vocabulary building, conversation practice and accent reduction.

Lessons are designed around the student�s individual needs. Generally, I teach grammar along with applied conversation, so that students get a real working knowledge of English. One time, one of my friends decided to go to graduate school in late December. He registered for his test 3 days before his real test, but did not prepare any for his GRE due to the final week exams. I gave him a 4 hour one on one tutoring the night before his test. He made 600(V), 800(Q) and 5.0 for writing. That was the first time I realized I should share my skills and experience to help more people. After that I helped another friend with the same techniques and he got really high GRE scores and now studying at Yale.

I'm a certified Kung Fu teacher and I offer quality classes in Kung Fu, Sanda, Qi Gong and Tai Chi Chuan at Rogers Park Studio.

I'm a member of a world wide recognized Kung Fu School which style is known as Choy Lee Fut. I often train with several renown Masters including Grand Master Chen Yong Fa. Master Chen Yong Fa is the Jern Mung Yun (Keeper of the Style) and he is 5th generation straight descendant of the creator of Choy Lee Fut. This is my way to cut through all the ads, websites, p.r. that music stores/schools/individuals bombard potential students with, making it almost impossible for one to have a sense of who will really have the experience and ability to teach you well. The first lesson is at no charge, then you decide if it's going to be a good fit with what you want to move forward on the instrument. This also gives me a chance to ensure that you are reasonably interested in studying. Absolutely zero pressure (I'll wait for you to contact me after the trail lesson if you want time to think about it) , but my bet, very clearly, is that you'll see the strong potential benefits of studying with me. Have some strumming/rhythmic/soloing ideas that you can re-use in a modular fashion, instead of always playing your small number of tunes precisely the same way without injecting some spontanaeity and creativity into them?

Understand the neck and fretboard enough to break out out of the (useful but limited) blues scale box that we all started with when you solo?

Study with a teacher with enough experience teaching and playing professionally (25 years in my case) to understand these concepts and how to teach them to individuals with widely varying abilities, strengths and areas where work is really needed?

There's so much people can do to turn back the clock by 10 or 15 years! Senior citizens who workout can improve their muscle strength by 75 to 100 percent and their bone density by 1 to 2 percent. Regular exercise can also reverse a decade of decline in heart and lung capacity. Getting regular aerobic workouts improves hypertension and cholesterol levels. Women can lower the risk of heart disease by 30 percent; other studies suggest a 50 percent reduction in elderly men who walk 1.5 miles per day. In addition, exercise produces a neuron growth factor that stimulates the brain. That may explain why it seems to protect against memory loss and alleviate depression.

Resistance training, meantime, can ease the aches and pains of aging. Strengthening the quadriceps, the four big muscles on the top of the thigh, for example, causes the muscles to absorb much of the burden on the knee joint, decreasing the pain of arthritis. And a spate of studies has found that two to three days a week of weight training preserves bone density and muscle mass, lowering the risk of fractures�a leading cause of debilitation in those over 65.
