We are well aware of your disability. One can tell by your posts. It is a mental disability

So, I'm assuming you think that George W. Bush was qualified to be President....how so? (I can't wait for this answer...) By the way, you've never told us the nature of your disability....I mean, after all, what could POSSIBLY be so horribly wrong with you that you're unable to work, yet physically capable of taking martial arts classes and go to the "Boat" on a regular basis????

Rant:My Wife Tried to Take Me Out (Chicago)

It all started with an intense argument and my wife tried to cut me with a knife. The edge of the blade did go across the right side of my face and there was a slight cut that dripped blood and made it look like I was crying blood. The police came at around 2pm and told me to just leave for about 7 hours and come back home. Now this woman cut me and the police refused to do anything. I left feeling pissed off and travelled around Chicago for 8 hours.

I came back home close to 10pm and told my wife as I entered the door that I did not want any trouble and that I just wanted to take a shower, grab some of my stuff and go stay somewhere else for maybe a week. I got in the shower and I was ambushed. About 10 minutes later, the Chicago police entered my home and arrested me on a domestic battery charge. It turns out that my wife did not like the fact that the police let me go so she called the police again at 3pm and filed another report and said I ran. They told her to wait until I came in and call them. The police on the scene even tried to persuade my wife to just let me go stay with a relative for a week but these were her words. "He needs to pay for what he did, I am pressing charges." Nevermind that I never hit the woman or held a knife to her throat(like she said in her statement). She also said that she was going to destroy my life for talking to that other woman(I'm thinking what other woman?)

They took me to the police station half naked and did the usual fingerprinting and processing stuff. I was in a northside station for about 8 hours with a lot of crazy ass black guys who talked for about 8 hours straight before they took us to Cook County. During this time, I thought I would go insane. I was about to lose my job and freedom just because my crazy wife decided to make me pay for something I did not do. They took us to cook county jail and I was there for a few hours before they realized their mistake and that I was supposed to be at 555 Harrison. Once they got us to Harrison, that's when the scare tactics started. A professional looking white guy was put in our cell and a black guy asked for his sandwich. He gave up the sandwich but the black guy was just testing him and told him that if he was going to the county, he would be someones bitch within a hour of arriving.

About half the guys that were locked up said the same thing. They said that their woman busted them screwing another woman and went crazy. Some guys had cuts, scars, bruises etc... After about a 5 hour wait, we saw a guy that took our names and phone numbers we had. An hour later, cook county security came and took me before the judge. They set my bond at $10,000 and I had to pay $1000 to get out. The lawyer came by my cell and asked if I had $1000. I told him no and he asked if I knew anyone who could get it. I told him to call the numbers I gave him and try to reach someone.

About 30 minutes later, he came back and said that he did reach my job and they would try to raise the money but he could not reach my family. He told me that if I did not pay the $1000, I could be taken to Cook County jail until my court date(which was January 12, 2010). I asked him to plead with my wife and ask her to drop these charges because without my job, there would be no rent payments, car payments etc... He said he would try. He came back an hour later and said she insists on pressing charges but he now had a another option for me. I have never been arrested before. My background was squeaky clean. He talked to my bosses and they had nothing but good things to say about me. He told me that if I pleaded guilty to the charge of domestic battery, I would get one year discharge and I had to take anger management classes. She would also have an order of protection against me. I damn near jumped through the thick glass window when I said "I'll take it". Anything to get me out of that damn cell! I signed the papers and he went back to the courtroom.

I was taken before the judge and they read everything out about me pleading guilty and having to see a caseworker once a month for a year and taking anger management classes. They asked my wife if she understood what was happening and she said yes. I could hear her voice change and crack a little bit. She did not like the fact that I was about to get out. I never turned around to look at her. Fuck her!

About two hours later, I was a free man again. I had been in the cook county jail system for about 18 hours but it seemed like 1 year when you think you'll never see freedom again. I had to walk all the way back to the northside police station to get my wallet but it gave me more time to think. Everything seemed brighter now. The air seemed fresher. As I turned back to my thoughts, I was shocked that my fucking wife tried to take me out. She stated that she wanted to destroy my life. She wanted me to lose my job and everything I owned. I work with the coolest people in the world. I had about 75 cents on me so I called my job to see if I still had a job. I talked to my manager and he said that the owner of the company gave him the $1000 to get me out about 5 minutes before I called. Everyone at my job was chipping in somehow to help me out. I could not believe it. I was somewhat overwhelmed. He asked if I needed someone to pick me up but I said no because I wanted some time to walk in the cold air and think.

I set it in my heart at that moment to never see that woman again. I am getting a divorce as soon as I get paid next week. Everything is in my name. The home, the bank accounts, lights, internet, everything. We have not been married that long (only 6 fucking months) so it should not be that hard to end this. I went to work yesterday and everyone welcomed me back. At lunch break, two of my coworkers/friends took me to a bar for a beer and offered me some advice. I accepted everything because these guys were willing to throw down for me when others would not. My soon to be ex has been trying to contact me for about 6 hours. I read some of the texts and turned the phone off (I'm changing the number tomorrow). I am shocked, sad, and mad but I thank God for my freedom. My new life begins now and I have resolved in my heart that I will never see two things again.

1. My soon to be Ex-Wife
2. The inside of a jail cell

Thanks for reading!
Merry Christmas!

50 of OBAMA's FAILURES (100 days--100 failures)

Source: NEW YORK POST

1. "Obama criticized pork barrel spending in the form of 'earmarks,' urging changes in the way that Congress adopts the spending proposals. Then he signed a spending bill that contains nearly 9,000 of them, some that members of his own staff shoved in last year when they were still members of Congress. 'Let there be no doubt, this piece of legislation must mark an end to the old way of doing business, and the beginning of a new era of responsibility and accountability,' Obama said." -- McClatchy, 3/11

2. "There is no doubt that we've been living beyond our means and we're going to have to make some adjustments." -- Obama during the campaign.

3. This year's budget deficit: $1.5 trillion.

4. Asks his Cabinet to cut costs in their departments by $100 million -- a whopping .0027%!

5. "The White House says the president is unaware of the tea parties." -- ABC News, 4/15

6. "Mr. Obama is an accomplished orator but is becoming known in America as the 'teleprompt president' over his reliance on the machine when he gives a speech." -- Sky News, 3/18

7. In early February, the 2010 census was moved out of the Department of Commerce and into the White House, politicizing how federal aid is distributed and electoral districts are drawn.

8. Obama taps Nancy Killefer for a new administration job, First Chief Performance Officer -- to police government spending. But it surfaces that Killefer had performance issues of her own -- a tax lien was slapped on her DC home in 2005 for failure to pay unemployment compensation tax on household help. She withdrew.

9. Turkey tried to block the appointment of Anders Fogh Rasmussen as new NATO secretary general because he didn't properly punish the Danish cartoonist who caricatured Mohammed. France's Nicolas Sarkozy and Germany's Angela Merkel were outraged; Obama said he supported Turkey's induction into the European Union.

10. . . . and he never mentioned the Armenian genocide.

11. The picture of Obama and Hugo Chavez shaking hands.

12. Hugo Chavez gave him the anti-American screed "The Open Veins of Latin America." Obama didn't remark upon it. At least it wasn't DVDs.

13. Nicaragua's Daniel Ortega went on a 50-minute anti-American rant, calling Obama "president of an empire." Obama didn't leave the room. "I thought it was 50 minutes long. That's what I thought," he said.

14. Executives at AIG get $165 million in bonuses, despite receiving an $173 billion taxpayer bailout.

15. "For months, the Obama administration and members of Congress have known that insurance giant AIG was getting ready to pay huge bonuses while living off government bailouts. It wasn't until the money was flowing and news was trickling out to the public that official Washington rose up in anger and vowed to yank the money back." -- Associated Press, 3/18

16. "After pushing Congress for weeks to hurry up and pass the massive $787 billion stimulus bill, President Obama promptly took off for a three-day holiday getaway." -- New York Post, 2/15

17. SARAH PALIN ON: "I WON" AND THE DEATH OF BIPARTISANSHIP

"Obama soared to victory on the hopeful promise of a new era of bipartisanship. During his inaugural address he even promised an 'end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn-out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.'

"Too bad it took all of three days for the promise to ring hollow.

"Start with Obama's big meeting with top congressional leaders on his signature legislation -- the stimulus -- on the Friday after his inauguration. Listening to Republican concerns about overspending was a nice gesture -- until he shut down any hopes of real dialogue by crassly telling Republican leaders: 'I won.' Even the White House's leaking of the comment was a slap at the Republican leadership, who'd expected Obama to adhere to the custom of keeping private meetings with congressional leadership, well, private.

"It's only gone downhill from there. The stimulus included zero Republican recommendations, and failed to get a single House Republican vote.

"It's not just the tactic of using Republicans for bipartisan photo-ops, and then cutting them loose before partisan decisions, that irks Obama's opponents. The new president wasted no time rushing forward with policies and legislation guaranteed to drive Republicans nuts. The first bill he signed into law was the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act -- a partisan hot-button that drew all of eight Republican supporters in the entire Congress. Then there was the swift reversal of Bush policies on abortion and embryonic-stem-cell research -- issues dear to the Republican base.

"And when Obama and the Democrats in Congress took up SCHIP -- the children's health-insurance bill that Republicans say vastly expands government's role in health care -- they had an easy chance for real bipartisanship. After all, the bill had been hashed out in the previous Congress, and a bipartisan accord was reached before President Bush responded with a veto. Did the Obama team push for the compromise version in the 111th Congress? Nope. They went back to the drawing board, ramming through the Democrats' dream version.

"Of course, the lack of bipartisanship isn't limited to Capitol Hill. Obama has taken gratuitous swipes at the Republicans who recently decamped Washington, blaming President Bush for everything from the economy and the war to the lack of sufficient puppies and rainbows. And who could forget the Rush Limbaugh flap -- in which Obama's top advisers, including chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, orchestrated a public relations campaign meant to undermine the Republican National Committee chairman, Michael Steele, by framing talk-radio personality Limbaugh as the real head of the Republican Party.

"For now, Obama's back-pedal on the bipartisanship promise just makes him look insincere. But the real consequences of the mistake will be felt soon enough. As Presidents Bush and Clinton could tell him, congressional majorities do change -- and at some point, Obama will need Republicans on his side. He'd be smart to spend his second 100 days making up for the serious snubs of his first."
18. "The willingness of a small percentage of military personnel to join extremist groups during the 1990s because they were disgruntled, disillusioned or suffering from the psychological effects of war is being replicated today." -- Department of Homeland Security intelligence report
19. Nixes a "buy American" provision in the stimulus bill.
20. "Yes, Canada is not Mexico, it doesn't have a drug war going on. Nonetheless, to the extent that terrorists have come into our country or suspected or known terrorists have entered our country across a border, it's been across the Canadian border. There are real issues there." -- Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. The 9/11 hijackers did not come across the Canada border

21. "The Obama administration is signaling to Congress that the president could support taxing some employee health benefits, as several influential lawmakers and many economists favor, to help pay for overhauling the health care system. The proposal is politically problematic for President Obama, however, since it is similar to one he denounced in the presidential campaign as 'the largest middle-class tax increase in history.' " -- New York Times, 3/14

22. JOE SCARBOROUGH ON: PROMOTING FEAR

"During his historic inaugural speech, Barack Obama promised to usher in a transformational age where hope would replace fear, unity would overtake partisanship, and change would sweep aside the status quo. But early in President Obama's first 100 days it is obvious that the only thing that is changing is the Candidate of Change, himself.

"The same politician who proclaimed during his inauguration that 'on this day we have chosen hope over fear' soon warned Americans that the US economy would be forever destroyed if the stimulus bill was voted down.

"Why was it that same man who promised to put Americans' interests ahead of his own political ambitions chose instead to use the suffering of citizens to advance his agenda?

"Maybe he was following the guidance of Rahm Emanuel, who famously said, 'You never want to waste a good crisis.'

"They didn't.

"The White House's warnings were so over-the-top that Bill Clinton felt compelled to warn the new president against making such grim pronouncements. Americans would quickly warn that the White House would not channel FDR's eternal optimism but rather embrace the gloomy worldview of Edgar Allen Poe.

"The Candidate of Hope also quickly adopted the Nixonian worldview that Americans voted their fears rather than their hopes. Over Mr. Obama's first 100 days, that cynical calculation paid off politically for a White House that seemed most interested in appeasing the most liberal members of his Democratic Party.

"I expected more from Barack Obama. For the sake of my country, I hope I get it from the new president over the next 100 days."

-- Joe Scarborough, host of MSNBC's "Morning Joe" and author of "The Last Best Hope: Restoring Conservatism and America's Promise" (Crown Forum), due out June 9.
23. Sanjay Gupta was in discussions to become Surgeon General, but the TV personality withdrew after he was criticized for his flimsy political record.

24. Rasmussen finds 58% of Americans believe the Obama administration's release of CIA memos endangers the national security of the United States.

25. Only 28% think the Obama administration should do any further investigating of how the Bush administration treated terrorism suspects.

26. "Obama thanked CIA employees for their work and said they're invaluable to national security. He explained his decision to release the memos, then told everyone not to feel bad because he was now acknowledging potential mistakes. Theirs, not his. 'That's how we learn,' Obama said, as though soothing a room full of fourth-graders." -- The Oklahoman, 4/23

27. By releasing the torture memos, Obama opened American citizens up to international tribunals. A UN lawyer said the US is obliged to prosecute lawyers who drafted the memos or else violate the Geneva Conventions.

28. In their first meeting, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown gave Obama a carved ornamental penholder from the timbers of the anti-slavery ship HMS Gannet. Obama gave him 25 DVDs that don't work in Europe.

29. TIM CARNEY ON: PICKING BILL RICHARDSON AS SECRETARY OF COMMERCE

"Richardson's value in Obama's Cabinet had everything to do with appearances. First, he was the Hispanic pick. Second, because Richardson had run against Obama for President, tapping him for the Cabinet helped the media write the Obama-Lincoln comparisons by burnishing the 'Team of Rivals' image.

"But Richardson withdrew before Obama was even inaugurated when news came out about a criminal investigation involving David Rubin, president of a firm named Chambers, Dunhill, Rubin & Co. (although there was no Chambers or Dunhill), who had donated at least $110,000 to Richardson's campaign committees and had also profited from $1.5 million in contracts from the state government.

"This was an early warning sign about Obama's vetting process (various tax problems and the Daschle problem would reveal this as a theme), but picking Richardson to run Commerce also highlighted that Obama and Richardson's promise of 'public-private partnerships' -- such as Detroit bailouts, Wall Street bailouts, and green energy--was an open door for corruption and was at odds with Obama's promise to diminish the influence of lobbyists.

"The Richardson mistake was one of Obama's first, and it was emblematic. Richardson embodied Obama's attention to self-image and the problems inherent in his vision of an intimate business-government connection."
30. Timothy Geithner nomination as Secretary of Treasury was almost torpedoed when it was discovered he had failed to pay $34,000 in Social Security and Medicare taxes. He also employed an illegal immigrant as a housekeeper. He was confirmed anyway.
33. "Barack Obama has been embroiled in a cronyism row after reports that he intends to make Louis Susman, one of his biggest fundraisers, the new US ambassador in London. The selection of Mr. Susman, a lawyer and banker from the president's hometown of Chicago, rather than an experienced diplomat, raises new questions about Mr Obama's commitment to the special relationship with Britain." -- Telegraph, 2/22

34. Obama's doom-and-gloom comments and budget bill push the Dow below 7,000, from which it's only recently recovered.
35. "You're sitting here. And you're -- you are laughing. You are laughing about some of these problems. Are people going to look at this and say, 'I mean, he's sitting there just making jokes about money--' How do you deal with -- I mean: Explain. Are you punch-drunk?" -- Steve Kroft, "60 Minutes," 3/22

36. "We have begun to modernize 75% of all federal building space, which has the potential to reduce long-term energy costs by billions of dollars on behalf of taxpayers. We are providing grants to states to help weatherize hundreds of thousands of homes, which will save the families that benefit about $350 each year. That's like a $350 tax cut." -- Obama, describing something that doesn't cut taxes.
37. "The Obama administration has directed defense officials to sign a pledge stating they will not share 2010 budget data with individuals outside the federal government." -- Defense News, 2/19
38. Backtracking on a campaign promise he made to black farmers, Obama significantly lowered the amount of money they could claim in a discrimination settlement against the Agricultural Department. "I can't figure out for the life of me why the president wouldn't want to implement a bill that he fought for as a US senator," said John Boyd, head of the National Black Farmers Association.

43. Obama is considering dropping a key demand to Iran, allowing it to keep nuclear facilities open during negotiations.

44. In a letter to Dmitri Medvedev, Obama offered to drop plans for a missile shield in Europe in exchange for Russia's help in resolving the nuclear weapons issue in Iran.

45. Medvedev said he would not "haggle" on Iran and the missile shield.

46. Obama asked Congress for an extra $83.4 billion to fund operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, a special funding measure of the kind he opposed while in the senate. As a candidate, Obama promised to cut the cost of military operations.

47. After trying to woo Europe as the "anti-Bush," Obama made an impassioned plea for more troops in Afghanistan. "Europe should not simply expect the United States to shoulder that burden alone," he said. "This is a joint problem it requires a joint effort." Only the UK offered substantial help, most others refused.

48. "While the online question portion of the White House town hall was open to any member of the public with an Internet connection, the five fully identified questioners called on randomly by the president in the East Room were anything but a diverse lot. They included: a member of the pro-Obama Service Employees International Union, a member of the Democratic National Committee who campaigned for Obama among Hispanics during the primary; a former Democratic candidate for Virginia state delegate who endorsed Obama last fall in an op-ed in the Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star; and a Virginia businessman who was a donor to Obama's campaign in 2008." -- Washington Post, 3/27

New-home sales fall to lowest level since March
Unexpected 11 percent plunge sets back sector

WASHINGTON - Sales of newly built U.S. single-family homes unexpectedly fell to their lowest level in seven months in November, data showed on Wednesday, dealing a blow to the housing market's recovery.

The Commerce Department said sales dropped 11.3 percent, the biggest decline since January, to a 355,000 unit annual rate, from a downwardly revised 400,000 units in October.

Analysts polled by Reuters had expected new-home sales to increase to a 440,000 annual pace from October's previously reported 430,000 units.
Story continues below ↓advertisement | your ad here

The data is a setback for the housing market which has been showing strong signs of stabilizing after a three-year slump. A Realtors survey on Tuesday showed sales of previously owned home surged to their highest level in nearly three years last month, while the decline in prices was starting to fade.

Housing was the main trigger of the worst U.S. recession since the 1930s.

Still there were some positive signs in the November new home sales report.

The median sale price for a new home rose 3.8 percent from October to $217,400, the highest level since May. Compared to a year-ago, the median sale price fell 1.9 percent.

The number of new homes on the market last month still fell to 235,000 units, the lowest since April 1971.

November's sales pace left the supply of homes available for sale at 7.9 months' worth, from 7.2 months in October.

DENVER - Police believe a series of violent attacks in downtown Denver between July 17 and September 20 of this year were motivated by racial hatred of white people by the black suspects.

Explosive new information revealed today, in the arrest warrants issueed to nearly three dozen gang members accused in a series of attacks in the LoDo area. Police say the attacks have occured over the last four months, involving numerous victims, some of whom were beaten severely and seriously injured.

Arrest affidavits realeased by the Denver Police Department show a pattern of racially charged statements by the attackers preceding most of the attacks.

According to the documents, the suspects told police they specifically targeted white men, they called "crackers". They would approach a victim saying things like "it smells like white people" and "i hate (expletive) white people." The suspects told police they felt two black gangs "owned" sections of LoDo near The Bash nightclub and wanted to beat up white men in that area to teach them not to come downtown unless they "brought their friends for protection.'

Many of the suspects were blunt in their motivations when they were interviewed by detectives.

The suspects told police the beatings were part of gang initiations and that gang members could gain status by "beating up white dudes." Other motives were money and robbery. The suspects allegedly stole cash, credit cards and cell phones. And told police they robbed the white people because the victims had a lot of money.

Many of the attacks were caught on downtown surveillance cameras. In some cases, it appears the suspects knew the cameras were there but did not seem to care.

Police made the arrests following a lenghty undercover operation.

FOX 31 has posted the affidavits in their entirety next to this story.

ZOGSBY: 84% believe congress crooked

More than 80 percent of Americans agree that Congress drafts lengthy, complex bills to hide spending on special interests and to prevent constituents from understanding what's in them before a vote is taken, according to a new survey.

According to a Zogby poll conducted last week, 83.5 percent of respondents agreed at least “somewhat” with the lengthy-bill premise, and 61.2 percent of Americans agreed strongly. Only 14.4 percent disagreed, and just 5.8 percent did so strongly.

The question Zogby asked was: “Some contend that the reason federal legislation is often thousands of pages long is because provisions to benefit special interests can be more easily buried in long bills, and so citizens cannot decipher the legislative language quickly enough to be able to communicate support or opposition to their Senators or Members of Congress before a vote is taken. Do you strongly agree, somewhat agree, somewhat disagree, or strongly disagree with this opinion?”

Overwhelming support for the opinion came from every age group, race, religious faith and other demographic category, according to Zogby. In each subgroup, at least 50 percent of the respondents “somewhat” or “strongly agreed” with the statement.

Even among the 22 percent of respondents who identified their residence as “planet earth” rather than their city, town, or country, nearly 72 percent at least somewhat agreed.

Support for the statement did not depend on whether the respondent was part of the armed forces, went to church weekly or never, were liberal or conservative, hailed from a certain part of the country, practiced a particular faith, or even had a valid passport.

Nearly 82 (81.7) percent of those in the armed forces at least somewhat agreed, along with 88.7 percent of those who did not serve. Those who never went to church agreed at a level of 77.9 percent, while 81.5 percent of those who attended weekly also agreed, along with 86.3 percent of those who go more than weekly.

Liberals registered the lowest levels of support, at 66.1 percent, while moderates at least somewhat agreed 82.2 percent of the time, and conservatives did likewise 96.9 percent of the time. The ideological difference translated to political party as well, with Democrats at least somewhat agreeing 69.1 percent of the time, and Republicans agreeing 94.9 percent of the time. Independents, like moderates, fell somewhere in the middle, at 89.3 percent.

The poll was commissioned by Let Freedom Ring, Inc., a grassroots public policy organization that promotes constitutional government and economic freedom.

Colin Hanna, president of the group, told CNSNews.com that “virtually no demographic disagreed” with the statement and that it represented a shift in public perception over the past year

Asked whether respondents might say the same of a Republican administration and Congress, Hanna said, “I think there’s no question about it,” but he pointed to several long bills proposed by Democrats under President Obama as having turned the tide of public sentiment.

“The bank bailout –TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program) -- the economic stimulus, and now this health care bill,” he listed.

“Americans are realizing that members of Congress routinely do not read these bills,” he told CNSNews.com.

The final version of the bill commonly known as the economic stimulus package, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, was signed by President Obama in March and was over 400 pages long. The current iteration of health-care reform, the Senate’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which Democrats hope to pass by Christmas Eve, has topped out at over 2,000 pages. Each contains earmarks for particular congressional districts or states.

When CNSNews.com asked members of Congress whether they planned to read the full text of the health care legislation, many of them admitted they would not. In October, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) said he would not read the legislative text before voting it out of the Senate Finance Committee, its first step toward passage, because it was so “confusing.”

“I don’t expect to actually read the legislative language because reading the legislative language is among the more confusing things I’ve ever read in my life,” Carper told CNSNews.com.

In July, CNSNews.com asked House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) whether he supported a pledge Let Freedom Ring was circulating which stipulated that the signatories would read the bill before voting on it. Hoyer laughed at the notion and said, “If every member pledged to not vote for it if they hadn’t read it in its entirety, I think we would have very few votes.”

At a National Press Club luncheon also in July, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee John Conyers (D-Mich.), also said the language in the long health care bill was Byzantine.

“What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?” he asked.

The Zogby poll also included a question that specifically referred to the health-care legislation: “Some say Senate leaders are trying to pass health care restructuring legislation too quickly and before citizens have an opportunity to understand it in detail.”

Provided with the same four options, 63 percent of respondents at least somewhat agreed. A full 91 percent of Republicans said the same, along with 68.1 percent of Independents. Only 35.2 percent of Democrats at least somewhat agree however, while the majority (61.6 percent) at least somewhat disagreed.

Democrats completed a crucial vote on the bill late Sunday night- early Monday morning, called a “cloture vote,” which ends debate on the bill in preparation for final passage. Senate Majority Leader Reid put together the 60 votes necessary to end a Republican filibuster after providing Sen. Ben Nelson’s (R-Neb.) state with additional Medicaid funding.

The Zogby poll was conducted between Dec. 15 and Dec. 18 and surveyed likely voters. The overall result carries a margin of error of +/- 1.7 percentage points, while the demographic data carry a higher margin.
These spineless and pompous demoncat politicians have to hide behind all the legal gobbledygook that only cretan lawyers and bumbling bureaucrats will be able to sift through to impose on US citizens. Not one word toward tort reform is in this monstrosity. If the Republicans had any backbone they would burn this steaming cowpie of a bill in a roaring bonfire in the middle of the Mall. Where is the outrage?

The problem also lies with the constituents, they think their getting a great deal, something for nothing when the local politician's bring home the bacon, or I should say earmarks. They don't understand they are hurting the rest of the country and don't care as long as their special interest is met. They don't realize they are footing the bill in the long run by paying higher taxes etc. and their local politician things he is a hero. This all has to stop and needs to just be cleaned up. The voters in this country need to educate themselves better and start cleaning out all off these politicians now holding office. DO NOT VOTE FOR ANY ENCUMBENT. AND NO MORE LEFT WING LIBERALS.
The sure-fire way to hide something is to bury it and then make sure that no one who is looking, has the time or resources to find it. Congress has made a mockery of the Constitution. The U.S. Constitution has 4,400 words. and is the oldest and shortest written Constitution of any major government in the world. Our forefathers penned the entire US Constitution in only 4 pages, yet today's elected zombies can't write anything that doesn't require a battery of legal experts and a plethora of aides to begin to comprehend it. Whatever happened to "for the people, by the people"??? Is it any wonder our federal budget is out of control? How much money is wasted between the salaries of those required to decipher the messes the libs create, and the hidden goodies buried inside each piece of legislation they create? The Constitution was penned by Jacob Shallus, A Pennsylvania clerk, for $30 or $661 in today's money. Nowadays, Michelle likely pays the same amount to get her hair cut
The last couple of days should have proven to all of us just how corrupt the legislative process has become. The Senate may give their buying of votes a special name. However a rose is still a rose no matter what you call it... and a bribe is a bribe! We need to remove this plague that has infected the progressive Democrats in Congress and the White House... and we need to do so by any or all of the following... indictments, recalls, impeachments or through the election process. However, we can not let the corrupted political process continue, unchecked!
It's truly criminal how Congress conducts their business. Indeed, through some cursory research I would agree that the current practice is drafting HUGE bills, stuffed to the gills with directed monies paid to these people's special interest money-contributing-patrons. To date, the 111th Congress have produced 116 bills that became law. The laws range from a single page and few hundred words to hundreds of pages and hundreds of thousands words, all indecipherable legalese. Every word they produce we ALL must live under its weight and force. We're being bamboozled and bankrupted all at the same time. And personally, I don't think one there's a dime's worth of difference between the two. Both spend money like it's not their own. They also, interestingly, exempt themselves from virtually all the laws they impose in everyone else. Time to start heating up the tar and preparing the feathers!
Why not impose on themselves the rules that they place on business. Require a plain language summary of bullet points identifying all the major points, like credit cards and insurance companies are required to do.

Dem. Rep. Parker Griffith switches to GOP

Rep. Parker Griffith switches to GOP
By: Josh Kraushaar
December 22, 2009 10:57 AM EST

POLITICO has learned that Rep. Parker Griffith, a freshman Democrat from Alabama, will announce today that he’s switching parties to become a Republican.

According to two senior GOP aides familiar with the decision, the announcement will take place this afternoon in Griffith's district in northern Alabama.

Griffith’s party switch comes on the eve of a pivotal congressional health care vote and will send a jolt through a Democratic House Caucus that has already been unnerved by the recent retirements of a handful of members who, like Griffith, hail from districts that offer prime pickup opportunities for the GOP in 2010.

The switch represents a coup for the House Republican leadership, which had been courting Griffith since he publicly criticized the Democratic leadership in the wake of raucous town halls during the summer.

Griffith, who captured the seat in a close 2008 open seat contest, will become the first Republican to hold the historically Democratic, Huntsville-based district. A radiation oncologist who founded a cancer treatment center, Griffith plans to blast the Democratic health care bill as a prime reason for his decision to switch parties—and is expected to cite his medical background as his authority on the subject.

While the timing of his announcement was unexpected, Griffith’s party switch will not come as a surprise to those familiar with his voting record, which is one of the most conservative among Democrats.

He has bucked the Democratic leadership on nearly all of its major domestic initiatives, including the stimulus package, health care legislation, the cap-and trade energy bill and financial regulatory reform.

He was one of only 11 House Democrats to vote against the stimulus.

“Look at his voting record – he’s had substantial differences philosophically with the Democratic agenda here in Congress,” said an Alabama ally who is familiar with Griffith’s decision. “It’s something that’s been discussed for the last several months… talking to people in his family. And it genuinely is a reflection of where he feels. It’s his own personal conviction.”

The Obama administration’s decision to scrap plans to build a missile defense shield in Eastern Europe further frustrated Griffith, according to GOP sources, because his district contains the base for Boeing’s ground-based missile defense research.

Ironically, a National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman called Griffith a “woefully ineffective advocate for Tennessee Valley jobs” after the decision was announced in September.

Signs of Griffith’s dissatisfaction with his party began to surface publicly during the summer recess, when he received an earful of criticism from constituents.

In August — one month after Republicans picked up his former state legislative seat in a special election — Griffith told a local newspaper that he wouldn't vote for Nancy Pelosi to remain as House Speaker because she's too divisive. He joked that if she didn’t like it, he’d provide her with a gift certificate to a mental health center.

He added that if the Democratic leadership wouldn't commit to working in a more bipartisan manner, "perhaps we should look at altering that."

Later that month, he was booed at a town hall forum, even though he said he was against his leadership’s version of health care reform.

“If I'm agreeing with you, don't fight me," Griffith said to a heckler, according to the Huntsville Times. "I'm on your team."

After the November off-year elections, he told POLITICO that he wanted to be called an independent Blue Dog and not a Democrat. He said the point of the elections was clear: “I should be nervous.”

Several Republicans had already stepped forward to challenge Griffith, and it’s not clear whether they’ll drop their bids in light of his party switch. Madison County Commissioner Mo Brooks has already raised more than $100,000 for the campaign, while Navy veteran Les Phillip also is running.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee will now have to scramble to find a candidate to run against Griffith before Alabama’s April 2 filing deadline.

Though it has never elected a Republican to Congress, Griffith’s seat has a long conservative tradition and has backed Democrats who have a brand independent from the national party. As a result of the district’s Democratic heritage, Democrats still hold the majority of state legislative seats within the 5th Congressional District’s boundaries.

The district, however, is trending Republican: A wave of new residents is moving into the Huntsville suburbs, where the area’s burgeoning aerospace and defense industries have created a miniboom. And those voters, with fewer ties to the area’s past politics, have been reliably Republican at the national level.

The district gave John McCain a resounding 61 percent of the vote last year — a tick above the 60 percent President George W. Bush won in 2004.

Even so, last year Griffith managed a narrow win against the strong drag at the top of the ticket in one of the nastiest House races in the nation. He defeated Republican Wayne Parker 51 percent to 48 percent, despite heavy GOP spending against him.

The National Republican Congressional Committee poured in $514,000 to air ads attacking Griffith, including one that suggested he was soft on Islamic terrorism.

And the committee raised questions about whether Griffith engaged in medical malpractice when it released decades-old documentation accusing his cancer center of underdosing patients with radiation so that he could collect more money.

Griffith is the first House Democrat to switch parties since Rep. Rodney Alexander (R-La.) changed parties in 2004. The most recent member of Congress to switch parties is Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.), who announced his decision in April.

Griffith’s predecessor, former nine-term Rep. Bud Cramer, had been frequently mentioned as a possible party-switcher — and also as a possible appointee in the Bush administration — but he retired from Congress as a Democrat.

Mr. Obama: Tear Down Your Wall of Secrecy

Mr. Obama: Tear Down Your Wall of Secrecy
By Monte Kuligowski
Everyone has gotten the memo by this point: Do not question Barack Obama. Even conservatives have been warned by other conservatives about mentioning the secrecy issue: It's pointless and can only harm conservatism.

Recently, Rusty Humphries broke the rule and asked Sarah Palin if she would make the "birth certificate an issue" if she runs for office. In her answer, she noted that people "still want answers" and "it's a fair question." Her enemies pounced quickly, casting her as a wild-eyed conspiracy theorist.

The real issue, however, is not about birthers or theories or racism or whatever else you want to add. The real issue is about the secrecy of Barack Obama, and it involves more than the release of his complete birth records. Hospital records; high school, college and law school records; transcripts; writings; and passport info have been requested, and all are being withheld by Obama.

Mr. Obama is presented as the smartest man in the country, yet we have not seen his college course list or grades. Hmm, hmm, hmm.

A normative democratic society cannot allow a president to continue to speak disingenuously about transparency while withholding basic information.

We happen to have a president who touts openness, accountability, and transparency in a way that is unparalleled when compared to all previous presidents. Yet we know less about this man than about his predecessors. Consequently, there are twists of irony and feelings of distrust at almost every turn in the Obama presidency.

I therefore suggest a couple of reasons for the president to hit the reset button and release the requested information.

People have asked to see the records.

That doesn't seem to be too much to ask from a man of outspoken transparency. And these are not just any people, but citizens of the U.S., over whom he presides, who have asked. They're not asking for the moon and the stars -- just simple documents.

The "natural born" requirement of the U.S. Constitution was inserted to prevent conflicting loyalties and ideologies in a president. Citizens have the right to feel assured in that constitutional protection.

Mr. Obama is the only president in U.S. history whose father was a foreign national in the U.S. on a student visa. His father was a non-practicing-Muslim-turned-atheist, and his mother later remarried another foreign national, this one from from Indonesia, who was also a Muslim.

Some believe Obama was adopted and became a citizen of his stepfather's country. Obama's mother moved him to Indonesia in 1967 to live with his stepfather, Lolo Soetoro. While other children Obama's age in America were pledging allegiance to the U.S. and learning to respect America, Obama as a schoolboy (grades 1-5) registered as Barry Soetoro, was reading from the Koran, reciting Muslim prayers, and learning the civics of Indonesia (the Indonesian school records were released independently prior to Obama's blockade).

Mr. Obama is the only president in U.S. history to have been raised in nontraditional/non-Christian homes. Based on what he's said, his mother was an agnostic. Obama's grandparents, with whom he lived for a period, were extremely left-leaning in their religion and politics. As Obama admits in one of his two pre-accomplishment autobiographies, he associated with Marxists and radical leftists during his college days.

The president's situation is remarkably unique, and his uniqueness has nothing to do with the color of his skin. People have an assortment of reasons for wanting to see Obama's complete birth certificate and other records.

Yes, Mr. Obama has posted a bare-bones "certification of live birth" (which doesn't name the hospital or physician), and Hawaii has confirmed that the long-form certificate exists. However, it is no secret that births were routinely registered in 1961 by affidavit under the laws (Act 96) of the newly admitted state. On affidavits of non-hospital deliveries, certifications of live birth were generated in Hawaii.

Now, my argument is not that a foreign birth was registered as Hawaiian on a false affidavit. (Also, I don't argue that dual citizenship or a foreign adoption disqualify Obama.) That misses the point. My argument is that because Obama says he is transparent, he should be transparent -- especially when people have asked for the info.

No one should have had to file in court for Obama's records, including his birth records showing his hospital and delivering physician. And taxpayers should not have to foot the Justice Department's efforts in defending the withholding of basic information. Releasing the information would cost virtually nothing. The president should want to provide all the requested documents, especially when doubt exists. By withholding the requested information, Obama is slapping transparency in the face while trying to make it a feature of his presidency.

Mr. Obama might want to reconsider releasing simple documents to show that he respects the people. By refusing to do so, it sort of makes him look really arrogant, as if releasing the information would be beneath him. If he has nothing to hide, all that remains is inexplicable arrogance.

Do it for the historians.

Approximately one year ago, the Honolulu Advertiser ran a piece about Obama's fans who were attempting to find his hospital of birth and retrace his steps, visiting as many of his boyhood homes as possible. The piece opens with these words:

Birthplaces and boyhood homes of U.S. presidents have been duly noted and honored for nearly as long as America has been a nation. In the case of such towering figures as Thomas Jefferson, Abe Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt, those early locations have been deemed national treasures and historic sites ...

At least Obama's reported place of birth has been narrowed to one of two Honolulu hospitals (Kapiolani and Queens). At the end of the Advertiser piece, the author's awkwardness is palpable as he tries to explain why no one knows for sure where Obama was born. The author thinks that it might be Kapiolani because it was the most recent hospital the campaign had identified. But:

While most Obama residences can be traced, the hospital where he was born is difficult to document. The desire of historians to pinpoint where Obama's life began has crashed head-on with the modern American propensity toward confidentiality. The federal Health Information Privacy Act of 1999 -- a law passed to protect medical records from public scrutiny -- prevents hospitals from confirming births, administrators contend.

I have to wonder whether the author is a staunch Obama supporter, is simply naïve, or is both. Surely he must know that historians are crashing head-on into Obama's refusal to release any information. He must know that Obama's signature on one form would override the privacy act. Release-of-information forms are signed every day; the act is only for those, like Obama, who wish to keep all information sealed.

The author concludes the piece by quoting a hospital official saying, "Our hands are tied." Mr. Obama is the only one who can untie their hands. With permission, the hospitals could confirm or deny Obama's birth in two seconds. Without permission, the hospitals can neither confirm nor deny.

At a press conference earlier this year, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs was asked about Obama's detailed birth certificate. His response? He laughed. And he laughed some more. The room filled with journalists laughed heartily with Gibbs. The question continues to "astound" him. After all, it's posted right there online.

As long as it's a laughing matter, why not humor us, Mr. President? Humor us with your complete birth records, naming the hospital and physician. Humor us at least by giving your hospital of birth permission to release a simple yea or nay. Humor us with your college grades and financial records. Humor us with your Columbia thesis. Humor us with your law school records and writings.

You see, the issue is whether the White House will take serious the doubts and requests of American citizens or laugh at them. Some doubt his birthplace and/or eligibility; others doubt his transparency, and hence, his character.

Even if Obama was born in Hawaii, he still looks unreasonable by not releasing basic information. Maybe he is natural-born, but has a radical ideology to hide and has been counseled to seal everything in an effort to appear consistent.

Future historians far removed from the fantasy and fear of Obama will no doubt be astounded at the Obama phenomena. But they may never know of the secrets hiding in his birth, college, and/or other records. Do it for the historians, Mr. Obama: Tear down your wall of secrecy.
