Program Coordinator, Tobacco Prevention & Control (Part Time, Grant Funded)
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the nation’s leading advocacy organization for Children’s healthcare, seeks a self-motivated individual with at least 1 year of experience in public health programming or advocacy to assist the Manager, Council on Community Pediatrics with promoting and coordinating tobacco control activities among AAP chapters and local communities in coordination with the Richmond Center and the Prevention and Public Health Special Interest Group of the Council on Community Pediatrics.
In this newly created part-time, grant-funded role (22.5 hours/week) this individual will identify opportunities for chapters to engage in tobacco control activities, communicate regularly with chapters and community pediatricians regarding national tobacco control developments, identify a pediatrician champion each chapter to work on tobacco control issues, and assist chapters in building working relationships with state tobacco control programs.
Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in public health, public policy, political science or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience, experience in web researching and maintaining web sites, have the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, and have superb communications skills, both verbally and written. Some travel and weekend work may be required.
