Do you have a child with Dyslexia? (Chesterton/Porter)

My 8 year old son has recently been diagnosed with dyslexia. He is in 3rd grade, and the school system has lumped him into the category of a "specific learning disablity", and does not provide the specific help he needs. basically, he is falling through the cracks of the school system, because he is highly intelligent, but struggles to maintain average grades. I have taken the initiative because I want me child to succeed. I realize that if he is going to, my intervention is imperitive. I have done hundreds of hours of research on dyslexia, and have met with a teacher who specializes in learning disabilities who has given me specific learning techniques to help my child. I have began with the phonemic awareness techniques. As many children with dyslexia can literally learn to reprocess information with letters through 100 hours of intensive phonemic training. The problem with dyslexia, is that when the schools teach the children phonics, it makes no sense to the dyslexic child, as they literally do not hear the difference in certain sounds. They can learn this, but only in a slower envirornment, as it takes them longer to process the information. If you have a child who is between the ages of 7 to 10, I would like to work with them when I work with my child. I am only looking for 1 or 2 children, as more than that would be too distracting for the kids. To have a small group is good because children have a natural tendency to be competitive, and often learn better in groups. I am not asking for any money, just for a parent who understands what I am going though as a parent and wants to see there child succeed. I am passionate about this, and would like to help as many children as I can. I am degreed in accounting, but have recently decided to go back to school to becaome a dyslexic specialist. I believe this is my calling in life. I truly believe that dyslexic children are misunderstood, and gifted! I too, am dyslexic, but I have made the most of it, and have overcome it!
