The reason for the higher price is all the extra software that will be included. It will have Final Cut Studio 2, and Logic Pro Studio 8. This software cost $1700 combined alone. The RAM can be upgraded to 4 GB, and Seagate now makes a 500 GB 7200 rpm hard drive that is compatible for this model. This will be the perfect laptop for the traveling musician or film maker. There will be a clean install of the OS, FCS2 and LPS8. I will install extra freeware that will help optimize the system and are useful in editing. I have used these programs extensively in my projects and will help you in the long run. These programs are: The Gimp (kinda like Photoshop,) Blender (3D animation/game engine,) Perian codex utility (extra codex for playing different movies in quick time,) Monolingual (utility that will remove all unnecessary languages/printer drivers etc. to add back GB of room to the HD,) OnyX (system maintenance utility) VLC player (movie player with large codec library,) and Inskcape (like Illustrator.)
I will also download and install ALL updates for the software so it will be the most current versions of everything.
