Kitten Adopt-A-Thon Going On Now! (Niles IL)

Total - 15 kitties rescued by the WWRAC are available at 1 location. WWRAC is a non-profit, volunteer based, donation based, licensed, no-kill, organization that dedicates time saving endless amounts of homeless dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. From time to time they help multiple kitties that are unfortunately, in horrific situations. When this happens they need to reach out to the community for help to continue their rescue work and devotion finding these kitties the warm, loving, permanent homes they deserve. Without these rescue efforts these cats would struggle spending their days searching for food, water and shelter or potentially being euthanized at an animal control facility who has run out of room for them.

To help this large number of cats/kittens rescued and the abundant amount already at the adoption center, the WWRAC is having an ADOPT-A-THON through the end of July. All of these animals have been tested for FeLV/FIV, vaccinated, started on deworming, vet checked, and most importantly come with a spay/neuter voucher (if over 15 weeks this procedure will already be completed) to help the nationwide goal that the day will come when there will no longer be a need to euthanized due to lack of shelter space. Each pet also comes with a free vet check at participating vet clinic.

You can help this the WWRAC have a successful ADOPT-A-THON by spreading the word about this worthy cause. There will be over 15 beautiful kittens with wonderful temperaments, sizes and colors available. In addition new kittens will arrive to our adoption center every Friday.

During the Adopt-A-Thon adoption fees have been lowered to $75. If you are able to provide a home for an additional cat or kitten we welcome you to do so for an additional $25!

When: Now through the end of July

Just like the pup in The Little Rascals, this Petey is one heck of a friendly guy. At just under a year old, Petey has lots of energy and loves to play. He is great with other dogs and just an all around friendly young guy. Due to his exuberance (and the fact that he doesn't seem to realize he is already 50 lbs) Petey would do best in a home without small children that could accidentally get knocked over. However, temperament wise Petey is amazing with everyone he meets. Petey would likely thrive in a basic training class as he is a smart young guy who already knows "sit" and "down."

As with all dogs available through One Tail at a Time, Petey is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Our adoption fee is $200. 2 American Short Hairs, 1 male and 1 female, need a loving home together. The female cat was raised from birth. And the male was adopted from an in-home-shelter. The female cat is 5 years old and the male is about 6 years old. Both of them are extremely loving and are medically updated in terms of shots, etc... We prefer to keep them together since they get along extremely well as they clean each other, play together, etc... We unfortunately need to find a good home for them because my allergies and asthma are getting worse, and finding them a good home was my doctor's order. Hope is a 2 year old, female spayed American Bulldog mix that is looking for a forever home. She is super sweet and extremely affectionate with people, she loves nothing more than to be next to you. As a bulldog she can be stubborn at times and will need an owner that will follow-up with training. We�ve worked on things and she�s come a long way, but there�s always room for improvement! She is housebroken, used to being crated at night and up to date on her shots.

She would do best in a home without any other animals. While she gets along with some dogs, she has a very dominate personality that some dogs do not take too well to.

She�s excellent with older children, not to say that she�s bad with small children it�s just sometimes she doesn�t realize her size and may be prone to knock them down or play a little too energetically.

When you are looking for a dog trainer do not be fooled by all of the verbiage on dog trainers websites. Dog training is not brain surgery! The only truth to dog training is that your dog understands actions more than words. My whole theory to dog training is this: whenever you show bad behavior, you have to work! If your dog gets crazy when they see other dogs I make them do a "sit and stay" every time I see another dog and after some time you will notice your dogs aggression go away by the day. Eventually you will not have to do anything because the dog will stop showing that behavior. Why does this work? I think of it as when I worked in a factory and was doing nothing they gave me a broom and made me sweep. I hate to sweep so I changed my behavior so that I would never have to sweep again. That correction meant something to me from my employer so I understood that doing nothing was not an option. i believe that dog's behave the same way. If when they beg, you make them work they will stop begging in no time because you will put them to work every time they beg. Training is that simple. What is "Beginner Obedience"?

Commands: Sit, Down, Heel, Stay, Come when called. Simple enough! But it's not the same as taking a cookie class at a big-box pet store... you need to get real results and a professional trainer. Set goals for yourself and your dog. Beginner obedience can be accomplished in two-weeks.

EXPECTATIONS/GOALS: Dog stays on your left side and never pulls, makes right/left about-turns with you, following your step. Practace for dog listening around other dogs and distractions. Down-stays 5-10 minutes, with owner leaving room. Sits and downs every time, even without treats. Treats are good sometimes but they're often mis-used as a bribe or lure. You do not need treats to train a dog, their foundation of training should not be bribe-based. Dogs must listen even when there's nothing in it for them, and when there is, that is a bonus. A dog should look happy doing obedience, and not forced. Practace in new environments:

Why Train my Dog?

Obedience can help solve, or in most cases, prevent future behavioral problems. If your dog is "Heeling", which is staying glued to your left side and keeping at your pace, not only is there no pulling, but he cannot be lunging or barking at other dogs or people because he is watching you! Not 5 feet ahead of you barking at every dog he sees. Behaviors like clawing, barking, and general hyperactivity can be curbed. And importantly, every dog needs to come when called, even around intense distractions. People with untrained dogs are always holding them back, telling them no no no, pulling on them, there is always tension on the leash, and it's never gets any better... Do not RESTRAIN your dog, TRAIN your dog.

If you do, I hope your dog is trained to heel on a dime 100% of the time, because the other day I practically got mugged for some food I was carrying by a dog on the sidewalk, whose owner was still coming around the corner and did nothing about their dog jumping and clawing on me. We are trying to find a nice home for or Boston terrier mix. She is brindle coated and about the size of a full grown Boston terrier. She is mixed with a Yorkie. We have a Yorkie and thought we could rescue her and thought because she was mixed with yorkie she would do ok with my daughter allergies. But no. She is a great dog. She is two years old at the end of this month. She is fixed and crate trained and just need a good home. She does not do well with other animals or other dogs but she is great with people. She just get very jealous of other animals. She is a licker and we really need to find a nice home for her. My daughter is extremely allergic and we have tried everything but nothing works and the doctors have told us we must find a home for her. There is a small re homing fee. I have a large tank for sale, I believe it's 75 gallons. It is in good condition. Not excellent, but good (it has a few minor scratches on the frame, not very noticeable). The frame is the color of light wood.
I have posted it on here before, for $100. Price is now reduced to $80. The first person who inquires, gets it, so speak up if you are interested!
When I bought it, I paid over $200 for it. I'm fairly certain it's intended purpose is as a fish tank, but I used it to house my bearded dragon. It is very spacious, and would make a good home for your reptile.
It doesn't have a "lid", but on one half there is a sheet of glass that fits on it, and over the entire thing there is a metal grate, that is durable enough to withstand heat lamps.
I was very happy with it, the only reason I am selling it is because I moved my bearded dragon to a smaller tank.
Because of it's size and my lack of a large vehicle, I can't deliver. You can pick it up though.
