Wicker Park is a 10-minute walk away and has everything you would want for a social life (bars, restaurants, shops). It is a good neighborhood, quiet, close to alot of culture but far enough away from it to have some privacy. Mostly Russians, Ukrainians and young professionals like myself.

Public transportation:
I am 1 block from the Western bus (owl bus), 3 blocks from the Chicago bus (owl bus), 5 blocks from Division and Damen buses. There is access to the blue, brown and red El trains by bus, closest of which is a 10 minute ride away. Commute to the downtown loop is 30 minutes at the most.

Parking:
There is unzoned street parking in my neighborhood, but I don't have a car so I cannot attest to the availability of spots though it seems to be better than most neighborhoods in the city as far as car congestion.

Me:
28 y.o. non-smoking, liberal, female graphic designer who works alot and enjoys quiet and solitude most of the time. I keep early hours (11pm or so) and don't throw parties. I will have friends over occasionally but nothing that gets loud or lasts late into the night. I know how to clean and try to clean house a couple times a month and do dishes 1-2 times a week, but I am not a neat freak and when I am very busy I get a little messy. That being said, I have an adult apartment that has lots of furniture and is decorated with walls painted, if that gives you an understanding of my housekeeping personality.

You: M/F drug-free, non-smoker (occasional 420 is okay) that keeps conservative hours and doesn't mind that I keep to myself half of the time. No heavy drinkers or party types, please. Any cleaning you do should just be picking up after yourself in the common areas, washing what dishes you use, maintaining your groceries in the fridge, and keeping your room one step above a nuclear waste zone (i.e. no rotting food and dirty dishes but a floor full of dirty clothes is fine). You are welcome to help me clean but I will probably only ever ask you to take trash out and keep the kitchen/bathroom in decent condition. Friendliness, politeness, and ability to communicate and resolve issues is appreciated as well.

I'm looking to rent out a spare bedroom I have in my two-bedroom apartment located right off of Addison and Pulaski, one block from the blue line and 90/94 expressway. The unit is in a three unit building that I also own.
About the place: In the last two years I've renovated the entire apartment (see attached pics). Hardwood floors throughout the entire unit, new kitchen with granite counter tops, all new appliances, and fully furnished throughout (sans your room). Everything is included in rent: heat, electric, cable (HBO and Showtime), internet, free laundry in the basement with plenty of storage space down there as well, and a large backyard with an outdoor deck. There are two rooms in the unit, I currently live in the larger room but am indifferent to which I would take so if you wish, you can pay an extra $25 for the larger room.
About myself: I'm thirty years old, male, and work in the Finance industry. I put in 45-55 hours a week at work so I'm never home during the day and my weeknights are laid back. On the weekends, I'm rarely home and some nights I'm at my girlfriends, so for the most part one would have the place to their self most of the time, ergo, me wanting to rent out a room that would otherwise go to waste. I've had a couple of roommates in the past that have had mixed results, I find that similarities in personality and lifestyle approach are key. I'm a bit of a music nut and tend to catch several shows a month at the Empty Bottle, Schubas, or Lincoln Hall. I tend to hang out in Logan Square and Wicker Park on the weekends, though I wouldn't call myself a hipster.
As for an ideal roommate: someone in their mid twenties to early thirties, who is low key during the week and responsible. If you're a fan of indie rock, we'd get along splendidly. Probably one of the most important pieces to the puzzle would be cleanliness, I'm a neat freak and if you're not, it would kind of be a deal breaker. Don't read me wrong, I'm not walking around with a white glove and Pledge, but I'm not one for clutter or a sink full of dishes.
The place is available Jan 1st and I require a one month deposit of $500. One perk is that I don't sign a lease, I only ask for two months notice when you decide to move on. Are you still looking for a place for December or January? If so, I have a bedroom available in my 3 bedroom, 8 room Wicker Park apartment. It's for a 1 to 3 month period. The rent is $350 a month. Electricity tends to run $20 per person each month. Gas runs about $5 per person a month. The apartment is steam heated, so there's no cost on that. There's wireless and that runs about $5 per person per month.

The apartment is already fully furnished; the bedroom that is available to rent out is unfurnished. You have access to the rest of the apartment and all its stuff too. There is storage space in the apartment and in the basement. There is a washer/dryer in the basement. It is $1 per load to wash and free to dry.

The apartment was built back in 1890, so it is different than modern apartments. There are hard wood floors, three bay windows each with six foot windows and all facing south, 10 foot ceilings, a stain glass window, lots of wood trim, ceiling fans, large common rooms, a pantry, a back porch, a back yard, and its on the third floor of a 3 flat.

The bedroom for rent is small, but all the bedrooms in the apartment are small. Back in 1890, people lived in the common rooms and only used their bedrooms to change clothes and sleep in. The bedroom available is 8 feet by 10 feet. I've lived in there myself so I know that with proper organization and by keeping it clean, the room can work really well. There's enough room for a full sized bed, a lamp, and either a desk & a chair or a cabinet & a chair.

I make my living in theatre. My other room-mate is a video cameraman/editor and he has a very friendly dog. The apartment is a non-smoking, non-partying place. Renters who have smoked did so on the back porch or on the front landing. I've lived there for a long time now, and it is really a beautiful apartment, which is why I haven't moved. I tend to sub-lease to people in the arts or at the very least, arts friendly people. It's also a good place for students, interns, or people who have just moved into the city and need a starting place to stay until they find their own apartment.

In order to move in, it's one month rent and 1 month's deposit. Because of this late notice, if you move in December 1, the rent will be $300 for the first month and then $350 in January and February. Otherwise, I'm also open to pro-rating the rent for December from the $350 rate. Before you move in, you'd sign a sub-lease with me, as I'm the only one on the lease with the landlord. After the sub-lease is up, there's also the possibility of renewing the sub-lease. If you are interested, I'd be happy to show it to you. It is a 3 bedroom duplex up in Wicker Park/Bucktown very close to the intersection at Ashland, Division and Milwaukee. The apartment is a couple blocks from I-90/94 and there is plenty of free parking on the street. The neighborhood is pretty quiet and there is a park right across the street. The Division blue line stop is about 2 minutes walking distance. The house is complete with stove, microwave, dishwasher, washer and dryer. We have Direct TV and wireless Internet. There are two bathrooms and upstairs we have darts and a pool table.

Rent is $580 a month plus utilities which round out to about $100 a month (electric, gas, direct TV, and internet).

The room will be available January 1st.

I am 27 and a teacher and the other roommate is 22 and a student at IIT. We are both male. During the week we are pretty quiet and on the weekends we like to go out.
