I don’t hang out at my house & party too much. When I’m home, I’m either sleeping, eating or working on some project around the house. I have an upbeat personality, hold an MBA in marketing & work in a family-business. I’m not an argumentative or bitter person. Save your drama for your mama! I don’t pry into people’s personal lives and pretty much go about my own business in the house. However, it is nice to have some company in the house & talk once in awhile, if my roommate is receptive to that. But, I’m not desperately in need of a new “best-friend”. I’ve got a group of life-long buddies that go back to grammar school with me for that. I practice healthy-living, go to the gym every weekday and am a non-smoker. I don’t care how my roommates live or their attitude towards fitness, but if they smoke, it has to be outside-only.

Argumentative, pessimistic or just plain unhappy people will not fit in well in the house. You need to be responsible & considerate of the fact that there are other people living in the house, pay your rent on time, and be respectful of other people’s privacy & property. You can expect the same in return.

I have 3 bedrooms in the house, all with their own private bathrooms. I'm in the master bedroom and am renting out the other 2 bedrooms. I have a full kitchen on the top floor (mine) and another full kitchen in the finished-basement (yours & the other tenant). I am renting out each bedroom separately. I’ve been renting these rooms since 2000. I’ve rented to both guys & gals over the years. My last 2 were both females—both in their 20’s when they moved in. One got engaged and moved out on August 31, after having rented the room for 1.5 years. The other moved out on Sept. 30, closer to her new job, after having rented her room for almost 4 years.

I own a cat, so if you’re allergic to them--sorry. The environment in the house is pretty low stress. I would prefer the renter to not own any pets, but will consider them on a case-by-case basis.

The Apartment:

The apartment is smallish but I have a lot of ideas for it....your room is smallish too, but can fit a queen sized bed and things. It has one window and mirrored closets. The bathroom has a new oversized tub! Lots of natural light. Hardwood floors, some exposed brick and one or two small timber beams - adds a lot of character. Also, a private back deck and lots of storage WHAT!!! Onsite laundry, A/C and ceiling fans. WONDERFUL landlords! So thoughtful and personable. A TRUE GEM! (rent doesn't include utilities - but a steal for what you get anyways!)

I would prefer to find someone that is as environmently concious as I am. By that I mean turn lights off when your not in the room, keep the heat set lower, and recycle as much as you can. This is not a complete requirement just a preferance. The person must also be ok with dogs. I have a 7 year old Australian Shepherd that is extremely nice. She does have the tendency to be jumpy when someone comes in the door though.

The house is a 4 bedroom 2 bath home that is located close to downtown Aurora on the westside of the river. It has the charm of an old home with the hardwood floors throughout, plaster walls, lovely wood work, and the old radiant heating system. The house does not currently have the luxuries of cable or satellite tv, high speed internet, land phone service, or central AC. With the digital antenna signal I do not see the need to get cable and with internet on my phone and at work I haven't seen the need for it at home. I would be willing to chip in a little for the internet if you were to subscribe to it since I would probably use it once in a while. The house is located close to Route 88 and the Metra BNSF line. It also is not too far from Aurora University or Waubonsee Community College.

The room is currently furnished with a full size bed and two dressers. It also includes a walk-in closet. There is a full bathroom right outside the door to the bedroom that would be the renters private bath.
