This is not for a party or anything else that is potentially destructive/disruptive/dangerous. I simply want a quiet private place with a nice view to celebrate a special occasion with my honey.

I am thinking this would be during the first weekend of August - probably either the Friday night or the Sunday night. I'm a 31 y/o male attorney moving to Chicago in early August for just over 3 months with only my luggage and a laptop to work on LGBT policy issues for the Obama campaign. The position is unpaid (and I may still have to pay rent where I presently live), so I'm hoping for a studio size or 1BD as low cost as possible.

That said, given the potentially long hours, I'm hoping to find something (1) right near an El stop with a short ride to the loop; (2) furnished; (3) close proximity to a grocery store (Whole Foods?) and a gym by foot (I won't have a car); (4) ideally in the Old Town/Lakeview/Wrigley/Lincoln Park area. Of course, I'd really prefer an in-unit laundry, but beggars can't be choosers. Ok, stop laughing! I figure I'd aim high on my first foray and then loosen my admittedly "high maintenance" criteria.

I'm pretty outgoing and friendly, big sports fan, and have been told I'm an ideal tenant (and have the references to prove it). My current and previous landlords (3 years and 6 years, respectively) would be happy to give you the skinny on me. I can promise that I'll leave your unit looking just the way it looked when I moved in--or better.

I'm somewhat familiar with Chicago, having been out in 1996 for a few weeks for the Democratic Convention and have spent several long weekends in town over the past four years. I'm excited to be coming back and keeping my fingers crossed that something amazing will fall into my lap. Can you help?
