I also enjoy cooking, writing, conversing with friends on Sunday afternoons, and entertaining (small gatherings as opposed to large parties), and I am developing a taste for working out on more than a semi-regular basis.

I have lived in Evanston for two years now with a great roommate and look forward to the possibility of moving to Chicago, but as a third-year graduate student, I can imagine that I will lack much of a social life if I live alone, and so I hope to find interesting people who can keep me on my toes. Ok, here's the deal. I'm 27, I already have a job working IT at an area hospital, but at the moment I'm deployed overseas fulfilling my Army Reserve obligations. I'm looking to move around mid september, but that is flexible. for the right place, I can sign a September 1st lease and just chalk those first few weeks of not living there that I am paying for as the cost of getting a good place.

What I'm looking for...

Male/female, somewhere around my age, professionally minded 9-5 type work. This may sound picky, but only gonna share my bathroom with one other person. I've worked too hard to get where I am to stand in line to take a piss in the morning.

Good sized bedroom with room for a queen-sized bed, desk, and dresser, decent closet space.

Patio, yard, or rooftop deck for hanging out, grilling, and smoking. (tobacco only, but I don't judge if you like the other)

Oh, someone who truly doesn't mind living with a smoker... lots of people say they don't then complain about the smell on your clothes or whatever. I don't want to move in then a month down the road I start hearing "second hand smoke kills" or some other mantra. I'm not doubting the voracity of the claim, but if you've emailed me from this add, you've had fair warning. I'm even not opposed to smoking inside, as long as we get a decent air filter (I'll even buy it.)

If you don't eat meat, or decribe your eating habits anything like vegeterian, pescaterian, vegan, or anything else that excludes a nice medium rare ribeye from your kitchen, we probably won't make very good roommates.

I'm definitely looking for a social roommate. I want to be able to feel comfortable hanging out just shooting the shit at home, or going out and getting a beer or six. I'm not looking for parties at the house all the time, I like living in relative peace and cleanliness, just some good old fun. If you don't drink or if you consider someone who gets a 4 or 5 beers a couple of times a week with his coworkers and then enjoys quite a bit of time in the bar on the weekends as someone who "drinks too much," we probably won't make very good roommates.

Parking... I have a car, a parking spot, even for a little extra, would be a plus, but easy street parking is a plus. If I have to drive around for more than 8 minutes to find a spot or park more than a football field and a half away, I'm sorry, its not "easy."

If you have big TV's, consoles, are into these types of things, thats a plus too. Also I like to work out, so if you do too, its nice to have a gym buddy.

Ok, about me...

I don't radically lean towards one end of the political spectrum (my liberal friends call me conservative, my conservative friends call me liberal,) I'm active, go to the gym quite a bit, like to play volleyball in the summer, that kinda of stuff. I don't like to melt onto the couch watching TV for long periods of time, but watching 24, Heroes, Battlestar, and The Unit are a must for me :) I also spend a little time here and there doing some gaming on my Xbox 360. Other than that, I love to go out and find a good meal, go to the bar, see a movie, camping in the Dells, and my family has a lake house in Michigan I like to spend time at, and I definitely go out on the weekends, save the one weekend a month when I have my Army stuff, and also occasionally during the week with my work buddies. I'm not an overly neat freak, as long as the common areas are kept about 20 minutes away from presentable, I'm happy. Oh, and I love to grill.. steaks, chicken, ribs, whatever. And I'm fairly decent at it too.

What I can bring to the household...

I can fix any computer problem you have, setup the wireless networks, that kinda stuff.

I have a 42" 1080p for my 360 and movies. I wouldn't mind putting that in the common area if there isn't already one there.

I don't have a whole lot of furniture, but if the place is lacking wouldn't object to buying some for it.

Basic overall cool guy with a laid back personality.

Hello, I am seriously contemplating moving to Chicago around August or early September (I live far away in New Mexico now) but not being rich, I would like to become roommates with one or more cool, responsible people. I would like an apartment around the Blue Line area like say UK Village or Logan Square, or even Bucktown or Wicker Park if it isn't too expensive. Pilsen or The West Loop might be OK too if it is close to an El stop. I wouldn't have a car so being near the El is a must! The rent per person should be about 200 to 550 or so. I would like a room big enough to fit a dresser and maybe a small bookshelf (and obviously my bed) Also, I would like a non-smoker or outside smoker. A cat or dog are OK has long as you aren't going overboard and respect me not letting them in my room (I'm slightly allergic to cats)

About me: 27/straight/male, I have a degree from UNM in film and theater and I am interested in film/music/art and other cultural things. I'm not huge into sports but I wouldn't mind going to a Cubs game or two. I more than likely won't have a job immediately when I move out there so you would have to trust me to pay rent from money I've saved up before I get a job (hopefully sooner rather than later)

About you: male or female, it doesn't matter to me. Maybe be between 21 and 35 but willing to negotiate the age. hopefully you have some similar interests. Mostly just be responsible, fun, know when to be mature but not so mature that you are a total drag. I would like a roomie to be friends with or at least friendly with. We don't have to be BFF but it would be nice to grab a beer with you sometimes. The apartment is located in the heart of lakeview, minutes away from the night life of Lincoln Park, Lakeview, and Wrigley. The shops on Clark are just around the corner also. The Halsted number 8 bus picks up right at the corner of George and Halsted and the Brown and Red lines are just 2 blocks away. The rent is $850 a month including all utilities: wireless internet, Comcast (with OnDemand and HBO package), heat and electricity. Some of the other amenities that the apartment has to offer is its own storage unit located right outside the front door and laundry-on-site (which is $1 for wash and .50 for a dryer, and it is all done by card and you do not have to worry about quarters). I am a 25 yr. old grad student at IIT doing arch thesis. I am looking for a place for september. I make good money working for an architect and plenty to pay $850 rent, but the lower the better. I have a 8' pool table and a couple nice chairs. I also have a canoe that my prospective roomate could use whenever. My only weakness is really poor credit, the reason for which I'd be happy to explain. It was never because of bad rental history. I have good rental tract record, never evicted or late. I'm looking for a place like 1-2 miles from the chicago river, b'c I want to use my motorized canoe for travel downtown and other places along the river, I'd like the place to be between Belmont and Armitage, cuz my work is off fullerton and my girlfriend lives just north of armitage and western. I could do 1 or 2 roomates, but I don't want to live with more than that. We could get 2 or 3 bedroom apartment.

I'm not messy or super clean. I'm reasonable and very respectful. I don't smoke, but I don't mind if you do, depending on where and how often. I'm really very tolorant. I'm easy going and fun, but serious about my studies.

Since I have shit credit, I can't rent from a big management company that does significant screening. So I either have to rent from a single owner that doesn't care about credit too much (I used to be a landlord that didn't and I was fine), or rent with a roomate who would be the one on the lease and the one to go through the landlords screening process and then I would just rent from that person. I would be willing to pay extra as a risk premium, and offer my pool table and maybe something else as collateral. I'm serious about finding a nice place and I need to somehow get around the credit check. I can easily pay rent and show proof. Please let me know if you are looking in that same area and would be interested in this kind of deal.

We are two recent college grads moving to Chicago at the end of August/beginning of September.

Meredith is a 22 year old straight female, who just graduated from the University of Notre Dame in May. She has an awesome job in IT consulting in the Loop. She likes reading science fiction, watching television (Scrubs, Lost, Heroes, The Office, Family Guy, etc.) and action/comedy movies. She loves playing cards (Hold Em, Blackjack, Euchre, etc.). Michael is a 22 year old gay male. He just graduated in May from Mount Union College in Ohio with a degree in voice and piano performance and theater. He loves music, ridiculously stupid horror movies (The Ice Cream Man, the Ginger Dead Man, Jack Frost I and II), working out, the Food Network (Paula Deen ftw!), and cooking. He is also allergic to cats, so that's something important.

We are: clean, laid back, friendly, sociable, have no pets/kids (would consider a small dog if the situation allowed for it), drinkers but definitely don't get crazy every night, responsible with bills (neither of us has ever missed paying a bill or paid a bill late).

We've been friends for nine years and are moving from the same rural-ish area in Ohio, so we're anticipating a small culture shock, but we'll work through it.

A couple of people have e-mailed us asking if we could share a room. While we definitely love each other, I definitely wouldn't be comfortable sharing a room let alone a bed with Michael, and I'm sure he feels the same way, haha.

We're coming to Chicago this weekend, July 24th through the 27th, and are hoping to possibly meet up with you and see the apartment.

I am a full time student at school in the city. I'm 19 and a female. I'm clean and respectful of other people's things. I want someone that is cool with me occasionally having people over, but I won't be that roommate that invites people to come live on the couch. I will be working probably 4-6 nights a week all year, so I really don't think I'm going to be home too often. I work out a lot and I try to keep really healthy (so I only keep healthy food around for the most part). I love to bake whether its cookies or fudge or cake or other stuff (and this is where the health-conscious part of me falls short). I am an easy person to live with, and I would really enjoy if my roommate and I were friendly and got along well, but just aquaintances will work too. Race, age and sex don't matter to me. And I would very much prefer to be near the Yellow or Purple line in order to get to school.

My friend & I are looking for a place to stay for 4 nights (7/31-8/4) for Lollapalooza. We just need enough room for the 2 of us and will be willing to pay up to $300. It would be best if it were relevantly close to Grant Park, or the loop... as long as we have access in getting to Grant Park without having to take a taxi.

I hate to use the term desperate, but that's about the gist of it right now. Here's the scoop: I've been looking to relocate from Nebraska to Chicago in order to start school at Columbia in the fall. I have a steady income of about $450 a month, and I can spend up to $350 of that on rent. I absolutely NEED a place to move into by August 15 and when I say that, I mean I need to move in on that date. I need a place that is relatively close to downtown or at least close to public transportation, because getting to and from school and work will be the most important things to me and I won't have a car to help me do so.
