The AVON Foundation has scheduled the 2010 Breast Cancer Walk for June 5th & 6th. That may seem like a ways away, but it never hurts to raise money early for this cause!
The journey is different for everyone involved, but it is life-changing to say the least. The 'walk' is 39.3 miles in 2 days through the city of Chicago.
If you have a mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, neice, cousin or friend that has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer, this has even more meaning to you!

We are happy to announce our 27th Annual Luminaria Sale! St. Christopher Catholic Church and St. Stephen Lutheran Church have again joined together to sell "Luminaria Lanterns" to "help the needy" within our community and at the same time to help spread "the light of Christ". Last year the project raised over $40,000 which provided funds for year-round help for families of all faiths. Profits will go to the needy within OUR COMMUNITY through St. Stephen's Pantry and St. Christopher's St. Vincent DePaul Society.
This sale provides 80% of all funding to St. Christopher's St. Vincent DePaul Society and St. Stephen's Pantry. They have helped hundreds of families from our area, but their funds are running low. They anticipate a greater need for funds next year. Please help us to help others, your neighbors, colleagues and friends.

A Luminaria Kit consists of seven bags, seven large candles and sand.
Each Kit will cost $5.00
The Luminaria Lanterns are to be placed outside homes and civic buildings and lighted on Christmas Eve at 5:00 p.m. They will burn safely for most of the night. Hundreds of Luminaria will also be lighted around the two churches to signal the birth of Christ. Last year 25,000 candles were lit all over town. Many neighbors got together and entire blocks looked beautiful. If you are not home have a neighbor light yours, or you can light theirs if they are gone.
