Business Plans/ Financial Projections/ Investor Presentations
Good afternoon,
I am a retired VC who has advised over 100 early stage companies in crafting their business and turnaround plans, funding and financial models, positioning strategies and investor presentations.
Prior to advising companies, I sat accross the table from those seeking investment capital for over 16 years. I have read well over a thousand business plans, sat through 'too many' powerpoint presentations and dissected financial projections from almost every business sector and model. As importantly, unlike any other 'plan writing' service' or plan writer- I co-managed a portfolio of over a billion dollar in investments.
Currently there are 3 ways you can have a business plan written :
- You can buy software some of which contain research links to US census data from 2002. Others basic financial input sheets for charts and graphs. They pretty much all look the same.
- You can go to a plan mill or plan writing service. They will charge anywhere from $1500 to $5000 for a plan that might use the software mentioned above, outsource research or writing, spend a few hours speaking with you and send you a final plan.
- You can go to a site that will write your plan and hook you up with investors. You will get charged for these other services upfront and get a mediocre plan that wiill cost you $3500-$6,000. Usually, junior staff does vthe research and writing. The problem is that they do not have the knowledge to move the concept beyond the limited do this and report back assignments.

You can retain a plan writer and strategist who

- Guide you through the other elements of getting off the ground or moving to the next level (repositioning, refunding, restructuring expanding). That includes a funding strategy, possible strategic relationship analysis, market penetration or evaluation of your current legal or other contractors.
- Creates financial assumptions and financial models which are tied to solid business principals which have been utilized in LBO's, mergers and private equity investments.
- Prepares clients for meetings, rehearses and builds compelling presentations and materials.
