Keep in mind that we do not make $70 plus dollars an hour we only make about $40 an hour, the union nor the rank and file sets the hourly rate the contractor charges, the contractor does you window licker... As for electrical, paint, plumbers, telephone, concessions, parking, floor rates, surcharges, and taxes talk to Mayor Daley and Governor Quinn...
Have you ever done a show in Louisville, Nashville, Phoenix, Cincinnati, or Kansas City where they either don't use union labor or it is a right to work building? Guess not, try it some time and see what comes about...
Vegas is union, they are Teamsters, the majority of them are also drunks, junkies, and tweakers... When we go there to supervise a show they usually take twice as long to set up then it does here, so even though their hourly rate is cheaper it takes twice as long... Just so you know, throughout the industry McCormick Place show labor has been rated the best skilled, friendliest, and the most professional in the nation, also when one of the junkies gets hurt on your job it exposes your company to liability regardless of rather or not he was high...
Now that you have been corrected and informed, keep that in mind before you say that labor at McCormick Place are thugs, have little skill, little education, and inside connections...
And remember it does not matter that your show is in Vegas, they pull us "monkees" from Chicago to set and supervise your job in Vegas because labor in Vegas is not skilled or professional enough to handle it... How's your ass feel now Mr. So Smart and Educated? So just shut your mouth and continue to take in the face like the good bitch you are...

Keep in mind that when Unions continue to scare (literally) away trade shows it does affect pay.
$70 an hour multiplied by 0 hours = $0.00.
Some unions are needed , McCormick monkees (90% of trade show thugs) are not.
My Industry tried a show here years ago and guess what? They went to Vegas they were so mad. What happened in Vegas stayed in Vegas, Year after year they go back to Vegas.
I am not thankful that cancer is winning the battle, and winning quickly. I am not thankful I didn't do more for her when I had the chance. I am not thankful that the greatest woman I know is lying helpless in bed waiting for the end to come and there is nothing I can do to help her.
I am not a religious man but I pray that she is not in pain and if there is a God he welcomes my mother with open arms.
1. Outlaw all private ownership of guns with a mandatory 5 year sentence in a hard labor camp for possession.
2. Set up a program to reward fellow True Patriots when they inform authorities of someone possessing a gun.
3. Establish a "Civilian Security Force" which will carry out searches in homes and businesses for guns. Recruit members of this force from traditionally under-employed areas.
4. Establish a mandatory curriculum in the schools to educate children from an early age about how bad guns are and why it is good to inform authorities if they know of anyone owning a gun, even their parents.
5. Make gun trafficing / smuggling a capital crime with death by public hanging.
Part of the concept of free speech is for those who hear the speech to be able to recognize who the assholes are. I would argue that by posting as you do, you are denying the rest of us that opportunity.

On this particular day a rich tourist from back east is driving through town. He stops at the motel and lays a $100 bill on the desk saying he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one to spend the night.

Not every trade in the convention industry makes $45 an hour either, but we do make a very good wage, something to remember is we dont work 40 hours a week, some guys consider themselves lucky to make 40 hours in a month...
