looking for people who are caring for both their children and parents (south chicagoland)

our company, dig, is interested in meeting people who would like to be featured in a new documentary about the sandwich generation, people who are caregivers for both their children and at least one parent, in-law or grandparent. we are filming from december 18 - december 22 in the chicago area.

to be considered, please respond with a written submission by friday december 11.

we're looking for people who are:

• between 35 - 64 years of age
• live in the chicagoland area (suburbs and city)
• have at least one child living at home

• care for at least one grandparent, parent or in-law who lives nearby or at home with you

• you use tylenol as your primary over-the-counter painkiller

personality-wise we would like people who:

• are outgoing and like to talk

• are trying to balance their personal needs with the needs of others (i.e. those you take care of - children and elders)
• as a caregiver you selflessly give care to your children and elders, but at the same time expect to receive some care (and thoughtfulness)
 in return

if you fit that description and you are interested, please e-mail a written statement that addresses these questions:

• please describe yourself. please describe your personality and beliefs in detail (e.g. outgoing, believe in strong family relationships, fulfilling responsibilities to your family, etc)

• can you describe your family? whose health and welfare are you responsible for (children and parents/in-laws/grandparents)? what is your role as family caregiver? how do you feel about that?

• how do you balance your personal needs with the needs of others? what are the stresses associated with that? how do you expect others to give and care for you? are your expectations met? why is that important that you get something back in return?

• do you use tylenol? why? how does it compare with other painkillers and how does it help you?

we would love for you to provide any personal stories that help bring your answers to life. we are looking for people who have interesting and compelling stories to tell.

also, when you respond please include your age, if you are single or married, what you do for a living, and what town (or part of chicago) you live in.

we will select a number of people for half-hour interviews from dec. 11 - dec. 15. we will email you if you are selected to set up a time that is convenient for you.

after the interview, if chosen for the documentary, you will need to be available sometime between dec. 18 - dec. 22 for a full day of shooting (up to 12 hours). the shoot will include a sit down interview in your home plus additional footage of you in various activities that help tell your story and possibly shopping at whole foods. you will receive $500 for your participation if you are chosen to be in the film.

if this isn’t for you, but sounds right for someone you know, please feel free to forward it!

thanks so much for your time.
