My Sticking Points

My main sticking point is that I have a difficult time going out because my current job takes much of my time. By the time the weekend rolls around, I no longer have enough energy to go out. Recently, I've developed little bit of approach anxiety because I'm a bit rusty (it's what happens when you don't consistenly go out). However, once I'm in a set, I can do pretty well. I have many life-experience stories that can keep people interested and entertained.

I'm looking for an advanced wing to go out and play the game.

I have friends in the "industry" that can help with social proof, however, my network is slowly dying because I am not going out consistently enough. I need to continue to nurture my current network as well as develop new relationships.


No Newbies Please!

You must be cool and chill. I'm not looking to tutor anyone, though I would appreciate mutual "critiques". I'm looking for someone that is at the same level as me. This means that you're probably already meeting very attractive girls. You might even have a non-exclusive girlfriend or two.

2009 hasn't been the best year for me, and I don't have the cash for a personal trainer. This is where you come in. I am asking you--a fun, motivated, exercise-savvy, nerdy, and patient person--to be my life coach, personal trainer, and friend. I have great friends whom I love and adore to no end, but they are just as unmotivated as me when it comes to working out. You, my dear, will be my swift kick in the pants.

I would like to start training at least two days each week, and then increase the intensity from there. I'm a former athlete--I used to work out for 18 hours each week--so I know I have the stamina for it, but 5 years of college and a number of external factors have destroyed it a bit. So please, help me.

Here are my specs:

I'm 5'2" and 220 lbs with 40 percent BMI. I would like to remain 5'2" and get down to 145, which will put me at a healthy BMI. Yep, that's a grand total of 75 pounds, and I'd like to lose it all by my 25th birthday (5/20/11). I don't want to be super skinny; I just want to be healthy and Chicago Marathon-ready.

Here's what I'm into:

I love running, rollerblading, and yoga, but I'm interested in trying other activities or getting better at swimming. I have an old rock climbing injury (arthritic ankle) and I am not a very good swimmer (though I would love to try), so please take that into consideration.

I've also had little motivation to be social for years and years. I'm finally trying to explore whether those two things are related.

I'm not necessarily trying to make a case for stopping my meds, but I would like to have someone to talk to who is also feeling this/has felt this before, and I would like to explore ways for personality to shine again and for me to not be such a dullard anymore.

I'm not interested in anything romatic. I detest drugs and alcohol and hate being around people who are intoxicated, so that somewhat limits our potential social avenues.

I love my dog, but especially in this wet weather, there is nothing like another dog to give them their much-needed exercise and on top of that, I think some dog-to-dog socialization is a good thing. I don't like going to the Bucktown dog park much anymore ... too random, too many dogs, and some of the owners are either irresponsible or overly concerned. Besides, it becomes a trip in the truck, and I'd rather keep it local.

So here is what I am offering: I have a fully fenced yard that allows the pups a decent run. I'd like to take advantage of that, although just walks in the neighborhood or in the parks are fine too.

What I'd like is to meet you, and have our dogs meet, in a neutral dog-walking setting, we can get a cup of coffee or something to go and let the dogs get acclimated. Assuming they get along, and why wouldn't they, eventually we can let them run loose together in my yard while we supervise like soccer moms from the sidelines.

I think both me and my dog would be happier if we had some company on our walks once in a while.
