We are looking at sexual functioning in people taking SSRIs. If you participate, you will be asked to read some information and fill out three surveys about your sexual functioning online on a secure, confidential website.
The study offers you an opportunity to receive information about your anti-depressant/ anti-anxiety medication as well as a chance to win a cash prize of $50. This study can be done online, at your own convenience in your own home.

Your job site must be accessible by public transportation during work hours -- and within a reasonable distance. For example, workshop attendees' maximum northward travel distance is approximately the O'Hare area (via Blue line).
Just prepare to speak to the group, explain the position(s), the requirements, and the qualities of the worker who is successful in the job. Adding equipment, trends and techniques to your talk is a plus. No commitment, just talk frankly to our audience.

Ayurveda treats illness at its source, rather than at the level of symptoms, and helps an individual to take responsibility for their own health and well being. Ayurveda is also known as 'Ashtanga Veda' (the word literally means 'Eight branches of knowledge') as it is divided into eight specialized branches. Yoga is a complete science of life that originated in India several thousands of years ago. It is the oldest system of personal development in the world, encompassing the entire body, mind and spirit. It is the union between a person's own consciousness and the universal consciousness. The classical techniques of Yoga date back more than 5,000 years. The word Yoga means "to join or yoke together," and it brings the body and mind together into one harmonious experience.
International volunteers will be learning the Basics of Yoga and Ayurveda in these three weeks of the project. Every day, there will be topics covered by a professional master (the person in charge of yoga and ayurveda classes), which will be practiced by the volunteers. Yoga will be practiced every day. Apart from this, the volunteers will also help at the herbal garden and the nearby school. Furthermore, the volunteers will support a local school in need of simple renovation work. The volunteers will also interact with the children teaching them basic English and Mathematics, Health and Hygiene awareness, environmental protection, etc.

Kundapur is a town situated on the west coast of Karnataka near the beach, and very close to the Western Ghats (a mountain ridge). The Western Ghats is India's prime zone for bio-diversity, known for its number of animal and plant species in this region. A Marine Turtle protection project has been started here in co-operation with the Forest Department of the State of Karnataka. Over a 60-kilometer stretch of beach, surveys are conducted and the turtle nests are protected until the hatching of the eggs. In 2007, more than 1500 baby turtles reached the ocean safely thanks to the efforts of international volunteers. This year again we continue these efforts. The projects will also focus on spreading awareness to the general public and in the schools about the importance of turtles in the bio-diversity.

The major goal of this study is to improve understanding of the underlying causes and mechanisms of schizophrenia, especially during its earliest phases.
Volunteers of many kinds are needed to help researchers achieve these goals. If you have schizophrenia, you can participate in research studies at Northwestern University.
Participation will involve a no-cost MRI (Magnetic Resonance) scan, plus 8-10 hours for interviews and cognitive testing. Every participant in the study will receive compensation for his/her time.

The major goal of this study is to improve our understanding of the physical health of mothers who have a child between 9 and 40 years of age who have been diagnosed with schizophrenia.
Your sons or daughters between the ages of 9 and 40 years old with a diagnosis of schizophrenia or your other children who do not have schizophrenia may also qualify for one of our studies.
Participation will take 30-45 minutes and you will be compensated for your time.
Situated on the west coast (Arabian Sea), lies this small touristic state of India. Goa was the former Portuguese colony in India. It is one of India's most cherished and prominent places for travelers since many years for its remarkable palm-fringed beaches; a travelers paradise. Groups of international volunteers along with a local group of specialists have been part of an awareness program all throughout the state for several years. This year again a volunteer project will be conducted but with a different theme. The volunteers will be visiting the schools and rural settlements of the region to present the importance of health and hygiene awareness and the need of education among the adults and the children. The volunteers need to be very creative in designing the exclusive orientation for the people of this region. Volunteers who participate in this project need to bring materials and ideas for the program, after which the whole group will settle on a plan of action decided by the team.The program will be mainly in schools/orphanages where the management will invite the parents and the surrounding villagers to visit and absorb the message given out through the presentations and plays.
Location: Panjim city, in Goa State. Panjim is the capital of the state of Goa. Panjim is accessible by air, domestic and some international airlines fly directly to Panjim Airport. The nearest international airports are Mumbai and Bangalore. Trains and buses operate on a daily basis from Bombay and Bangalore.

This project has been running successfully since 2004. The Youth House School is a small education center for disadvantaged street children and children coming from a poor fishing village, located in the outskirts of Hanoi. The international volunteers will help run the school and will be responsible for keeping the school clean, cooking free lunch for the children, and teaching them basic things about their countries, health, etc. The volunteers will also organize some leisure activities for youth after school. This is a time for cultural exchange and embracing new relationships. The international volunteers will work together with a team of local volunteers, led by a group leader. The volunteers will teach around 15 children every day. Remember, the children are not used to rules and structure in their households, so volunteers must try to implement this by setting an example. The Youth House is also a place where young local people and international volunteers come to explore the cultural diversity, by teaching the children together or organizing leisure activities, such as taking the children to the swimming pool. These activities are combined with projects to help disadvantaged people at the Fisher Village, who are very poor and live in slum-boats on the Red river. This is done by giving them food, medicines, water filters (for clean drinking water), toothpaste, second-hand warm clothes and free showers in winter, etc. The Red River is the biggest river in Vietnam. The delta is located in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. The city continues to expand with many people coming from the countryside into the urban area. This however, is an expensive endeavor with the government imposing a tax on people coming from the rural area to prevent a massive influx of people. Some people decide however to come despite this financial situation and thus must live in house boats at the river to escape from having to pay. Since they do not technically live in Hanoi they must pay for school which is usually free until the age of 12. The entire family must work hours that most people would consider inhumane. The children wander the streets begging and collecting rubbish. An entire family barely makes $2 a day.
We are people from all walks of Life who gather in spirit each day of the week at 12 Noon for A Moment Of Silence.
At this time we put aside differences and conflicts and open our minds and hearts to The Spirit Of Peace.
Some of us pray, some meditate, and some do both. Others simply pause in silence for a moment or two. Each follows his or her own Inner Direction.

The "Sirenito Macho" project was founded by the Mayo-Carmona family (a local family) in which has been implicated progressively local people and international volunteers to help to protect and preserve different marine species such as the marine turtle nesting in the coastal line of the state, specifically in the region close to Marquelia town. Thus, by collecting eggs from the females and by taking care of them during the whole process of incubation up to the birth of the baby turtles, volunteers and local people contribute to the preservation of these species. Through different activities throughout the year the "Sirenito Macho" project helps to prevent the turtle eggs being stolen, ensuring the turtles' reproduction in permanence in the zone. Through these activities the organization looks also for increasing the conscience within the local population and local and federal authorities about the importance of preserving these species as well as about ecological matters. It promotes as well a deep cultural exchange between the local people and international volunteers.
The volunteers will carry out different tasks to help preserve two different kinds of marine turtle (Lepidochelys Olivacea and Dermochelys Coracea) by collecting the eggs that the females lay down in the zone and putting them into a yard at the "Sirenito Macho" camping. They will take care of them up to the baby turtles' birth and help to lead them to the ocean and release them. They will also help to collect statistical data and will patrol the zone where the turtles nest by night. They will have, finally, the opportunity to help cleaning the beach.

Salem Orphanage Home was founded in 1992. It is based in Kisumu which is the third largest city in Kenya. Kisumu has a population of approximately 300,000 and is located on Lake Victoria almost on the Ugandan border. In Kisumu, there are many orphans who, without help, would have no future. Salem Orphanage is a home to about 130 orphans who lost their parents (usually to AIDS) and street children from the slums. There are primarily boys, due to the "preference" for girls as household labor help, and the difficulty for boys to stay at home if their mother marries someone other than their father. At Salem they are loved and cared for well, but the need is still so great.
Volunteer work: Volunteers' major duties include: • Responsible for day-to-day coordination of the Home to ensure efficient performance of the organization operation • Cooking for the children, washing the children's clothes and counseling • Teaching the children sports, drama and theatre • Farming and making “jikos†(cooking pots) The volunteers will be working from Monday to Saturday. The number of hours will be decided by the Home management. Special requirements: The Orphanage requires volunteers with counseling and teaching skills; preferably teachers in Math, English or Science and teachers for early childhood education and nursery schooling. However, we have an open policy and applicants with other ideas to share are also welcome to apply and will be considered. Volunteers need to contribute/initiate ideas and by that would be promoting the growth of the Orphanage. This is an opportunity for the volunteers to work at a community/grassroot level in capacity building and training in self-sustainability. Bali Island is a densely populated island, with population more that 3 million people all together. The population is almost all Indonesian, 95% are of Balinese Hindu descent and could be describe as ethic Balinese. Bali is also a tiny, extremely fertile and dramatically mountainous island. It is only 140 km by 80 km. The tourism boom, which started in 1970s has brought many changes and has helped pay for improvement in roads, telecommunication, education and health. Though tourism has had some marked effects, Bali’s unique culture and custom has proved to be remarkably island. Bali disabled School was founded with the aim to cater for the needs of disabled children and youth in Bali and the surrounding areas. Moreover, this school is also aimed to encourage and motivate the disable children and youth to struggle for their future. We would like to host foreign volunteers because we believe that their interaction with the children, during education and vocational classes and other therapeutic activities will be of great benefit as our students have little or no chances to meet and live with people from other cultures. The intercultural dimension that their presence will generate will also be welcomed and valued by the local staffs. The support that the volunteers will give to our teaching staff, particularly those teaching English, will be invaluable.
The role of the volunteers will be assisting local teacher in classes like teaching basic conversation in English, helping teacher in giving training on physical activities of the disabled students like making simple handicrafts, playing, doing simple sport etc . Volunteers' influence on students is expected to create a sense of knowledge of other realities of the disabled kids and other cultures in a way that improves their own perception of themselves and what they can achieve. Also to open the mind of international volunteers that the disabled students also need attention to face their future. It will also give opportunity for the international volunteers about the treatment that should be done by the families of disabled children.

Vietnam Friendship Village is a treatment/care centre for Agent Orange victims located in Ha Tay Province, which was opened in 1993 to treat children and veterans suffering from the effects of Agent Orange. The children, whose fathers or grandfathers were exposed (causing chromosomal damage) or who were contaminated from their mother’s milk, suffer from a range of difficult conditions. While staying in Vietnam Friendship Village, children and veterans are nourished and are provided with free medical care. The children, who may stay there for several years, receive not only basic education, but also some forms of job training.
The Organic Gardening Project was launched in 2004 with the goal of creating islands of a harmonious approach to agriculture within areas of environmental and human devastation - increasing awareness of the consequences of war and, at the same time, demonstrating positive strategies for healing and living. At this moment, the farm is providing about 60% of the village’s consumption of vegetable. It is expected that it will cover all the needs and there will be products left for sale to raise funds for the village.
Volunteers will help with clearing the site, preparing soil, weeding, planting vegetables and fruit trees, cleaning a fish pond and redecorating the flowers in the garden. Additional activities may include planting trees, moving bricks for construction, collecting garbage and playing with the children or exchanging with local volunteers or farmers.
Discussions among the volunteers about Agent Orange, Vietnamese culture, and other social issues will take place during some of the evenings. In the project from January 25 to February 6, 2010, the volunteers will focus on preparing Tet New Year Festival for the children in the Village. The work then includes redecorating the houses and making of Chung Cake – a traditional cake for this holiday in Vietnam.

Kundapur is a town situated on the west coast of Karnataka near the beach, and very close to the Western Ghats (a mountain ridge). The Western Ghats is India's prime zone for bio-diversity, known for the number of animal and plant species in this region. International volunteer projects have been running for many years in this region and there is now a very strong network of local partners and local volunteers. Volunteers have cooperated with a large number of schools, orphanages, institutions for special education and the local authorities to develop projects that are meaningful for the development of this rural town. The international volunteer projects will focus on rural development, environmental protection and children. The volunteers will spread awareness about environmental protection and solid waste management to schoolchildren. They will also be involved in activities such as creative education and teaching basic English and Math through games, art and songs with the children from the local schools, including disabled kids (physically and/or mentally). The work might include some physical work for the renovation and betterment of the schools (painting, building a playground, etc.).

Location: Kundapur is situated 100 km north of the city of Mangalore, 300 km from Panjim (Goa), and 450 km from Bangalore. Kundapur is accessible by bus/train from Mangalore, Bangalore, Panjim (Goa), and Mumbai. There are international and domestic airports in Bangalore, Goa, and Mumbai.

The international volunteer project will be held in Mombasa for 3 weeks. Volunteers will come together to demonstrate the power of voluntary service in meeting critical needs of the local communities. The main objective of the volunteer project is Environmental conservation.
Volunteer work: The volunteers in this project will be involved in planting trees, designing brochures, teaching the local people finance and management. The program aims to raise awareness and sensitize people on environmental issues and to improve the eco-system of the town by planting trees. The volunteers will be involved in preparing nurseries, seedbeds, weeding, watering, picking soil, planting trees by the river “Iyeni”, designing brochures, selling tree seedlings, teaching finance and administration.The group will work 5 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the afternoon, Monday through Friday. Sometimes, depending on the nature of work, the time can be extended.
Location: Mombasa is located in the Coast province, about 8 hours drive from Nairobi (500 km). Markets, Post Office, Banks (ATMs), Internet and other facilities are located in Mombasa.
The weather is generally hot and humid in Mombasa. The terrain is flat.
If you are looking for intercultural exchange possibility in winter, this is your chance. The volunteers will be working in support of the primary school in the town of Taskesti in the north west of Turkey. The volunteers will be painting and white washing indoor walls, doors & windows of the primary school. The school has 20 classrooms, teachers’ room, director’s room, corridors, labs, and ceiling to be painted.Volunteers must be aware that the weather will be cold. The work is inside and the working and living areas will be heated. Accommodation: Volunteers will stay in a prefab dormitory in a separate building, walking distance from the school. Rooms have bunk beds. Sleeping bags are necessary as the weather will be cold outside. Extra blankets will be available. Food will be supplied in the school.
Orientation: There is an orientation meeting in Istanbul on January 28th. All volunteers have to attend in order to get to know the other volunteers, to get information about the project, about Turkey and its culture, and to travel to the camp site altogether. The project starts the day after, following an overnight bus trip (5 hours). Location: Taskesti is a small town of Bolu province in the north west of Turkey, at an altitude of 600 m above sea level. Thus, the environment will be snowy. The next city is Bolu and the next town is Mudurnu which is famous for its traditional houses. Project language: English

This study is a research project through the University of Vermont Psychology Department about women’s and men’s sexuality, emotions, and childhood experiences. The study consists of 11 different self-report questionnaires, which include questions about how you experience and cope with emotions, your past sexual experiences and current sexual functioning, your current relationship and sexual satisfaction, and your childhood and family history.
This survey is anonymous and takes approximately 45 minutes to complete. You must be between 18 and 25 years old, born in the United States and fluent in English, and a non-virgin. Since 1999 the ex-Convent San Giorgio, a Volunteering Permanent Centre, has hosted hundreds of volunteers in different occasions (national and international workcamps, European Volunteering Service, etc).
The Convent is situated in the region of Abruzzo, centre of Italy, about 150 km away from Rome. It has been fully restored by the local institution Mountain Community and furnished following as much as possible the "static free" standards.
The project aims to bring new economic, tourist and especially cultural and spiritual movements in a quite isolated area. It deals with sustainable living, no waste, recycling and clever use of energies.
As every year international volunteer groups will spend some days at the ex Convento San Giorgio: a good chance to meet people from all over the world, to know a bit of Italian culture, getting in touch with permaculture and sustainable living; all this while staying in a Convent of the XVII century. The tasks of the participants change according to the period of the year, the season and the weather, but can be summarized in: • maintenance of the structure (cleaning the Convent, painting walls, restoring windows,...) • feeding the animals (chickens, ducks, sheep, goats, donkeys) • working in the garden

The Singburi projects are part of a larger campaign and efforts to stimulate rural development with the support of International Voluntary Service. We believe that the impact of the international volunteers in rural communities is an important stimulus to open minds and reduce prejudices. We work a lot with rural areas to transmit these values to the villagers. The main objective of the international volunteer project is cultural exchange between the volunteers and the local villagers. The participants in the project will also practically work in the communities, getting involved in several kinds of support and development works, such as construction of a village house or a school, etc. The exact nature of the work will depend of the needs of the village at the time of the project. Study theme: The volunteers will learn about the culture of rural Thailand in general and the traditions and specificity of the Central region. Thai language lessons will also be given to the volunteers.
Special requirements: No special profile is required for this project, but having experience in construction work will be appreciated. Nature lovers and ethnologists will particularly enjoy the project. Adaptability is required from the volunteers. It was established in the year 1895 during the reign of King Rama V. The province currently occupies an area of 822 square kilometres. Singburi has many beautiful temples to visit.

Are you a gay or bisexual man in a relationship with another man? Howard Brown is running focus groups to better understand attitudes toward couples-based HIV testing. This type of testing would allow you and your partner to receive your HIV tests together.
This study is being conducted by researchers at Howard Brown Health Center and Emory University in Atlanta.
Participants will be compensated $25-$50 for their time. Two focus groups will be held on Saturday, November 14th, at Howard Brown Health Center (4025 N Sheridan Road).
You must be at least 18 years old to qualify. All information will be kept confidential.

Cultural exchange and teaching English to students on Hainan Island

The project takes place in Wenchang, about 70 km away from the main city of Haikou on Hainan Island. Wenchang town consist of a closely related community with a rich culture.
During the project, the international participants will work together with other volunteers and local students of different ages. The main activities consist of:
- Developing friendship between the participants and the local students and teachers.
- Visiting schools around Wenchang town.
- Teaching English with the local English teachers.
- Learning Chinese and local language.
- Taking part in some sport games with the students.
Along with teaching the local students English, it is very important to let them meet friends from other parts of the world, thus giving them a chance to expand their horizons.
Special requirements: Interest in teaching and cultural work. We expect all the volunteers to be open minded, leave prejudice behind and show initiative. Creative ideas for the work, discussions, and the free time are expected to come from the group.
Our class meets twice a week from 6:30 - 9pm, Mondays and Wednesdays. We have a very diverse range of levels and have open, extended enrollment. Though this can make lesson planning difficult at times, this style of class fits the needs of the community here much better than a traditional, level 1, level 2, etc type class in which many of our students would have difficulty succeeding in. This is also why we rely on a team approach so we can be flexible about giving more individual attentions to students or groups of students who aren't being best served by the lesson of the day.
