The Illinois Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention will host the "Out of the Darkness" Western Suburbs Community Walk on at 9 a.m. October 17.
The uplifting, 3.1 mile fundraising walk around scenic Walton Island in Elgin supports AFSP research, education, and survivor and awareness programs with the goal of both preventing suicide and assisting those affected by it.
Walton Island is located in the middle of the Fox River, just west of The Centre and Hemmens Auditorium. To get directions online, use the address 100 Symphony Way.
Online registration is open until 11:45 a.m. on October 16th. On-site registration also will available.
