Gamer's Alternative Reality Event (Aurora / Batavia Area)

Hey everyone,

Let's play a game together. So many people play alternative reality games, and RPG's. Why not bring it to life? I am creating an amazing story and experience that, if you love RPG's, you will love to be a part of.

You will be emailed a clue on the night of Friday April 2nd, 2010. The clue will lead you to a location where more of the story will be revealed. As you participate in the adventure, more of the story will be revealed. I can't tell you too much now because I don't want to give any of the surprises away. The whole event will end at a mystery location Sunday evening. Clues will be provided via emails, text messages, and physical locations. Don't worry, you're sure to have fun, there will be a help line to call if you need to.

If you want to participate drop me an email with your information, and I will add you to the list. You will be sure to get little teaser emails as the event gets closer. A fee of $60 will be collected from each participant a few weeks before the event to cover expenses.

The Illinois Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention will host the "Out of the Darkness" Western Suburbs Community Walk on at 9 a.m. October 17.

The uplifting, 3.1 mile fundraising walk around scenic Walton Island in Elgin supports AFSP research, education, and survivor and awareness programs with the goal of both preventing suicide and assisting those affected by it.

Walton Island is located in the middle of the Fox River, just west of The Centre and Hemmens Auditorium. To get directions online, use the address 100 Symphony Way.

Online registration is open until 11:45 a.m. on October 16th. On-site registration also will available.

Funds raised through the scenic, 3.1-mile walk will be used to support research, education, and survivor and awareness programs with the goal of both preventing suicide and assisting those affected by it.

Each year, more than 30,000 people in the United States die by suicide. Every day, approximately 80 Americans take their own life, and 1,500 more attempt to do so. With each of these tragedies, many people � the �Survivors of Suicide� � are profoundly affected and their lives are changed. With suicide the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S. among adults ages 18 to 65, the AFSP seeks to understand and prevent suicide through research and education as well as to reach out to people with mood disorders and those impacted by suicide.

Walton Island is located in the middle of the Fox River, just west of The Centre and Hemmens Auditorium. A parking lot resides just north of the island, and a parking deck can be found just east of the island. Parking in the area is free, and Walton Island is within walking distance of the Metra.

The sold-out concert, WILLIE NELSON AND WYNTON MARSALIS PLAY THE MUSIC OF RAY CHARLES, was a highlight of the most recent New York music season. Now, music lovers in the Chicagoland area will get to see it too. On October 15,2009, at 7:20 PM, the Lake Theatre in Oak Park and the York Theatre in Elmhurst, IL will screen this once-in-a-lifetime concert.

Recorded in High Definition by HDNet for screening with full surround sound at select cinemas in North American and Europe, the concert event includes 90 minutes of consummately performed, soul-stirring music plus never-before-seen rehearsal footage and behind-the-scenes interviews with Marsalis, Nelson and Jones.

Country music legend Willie Nelson and Pulitzer Prize-winning jazz artist and Jazz at Lincoln Center Artistic Director Wynton Marsalis share more in common than their multiple GRAMMY� awards. They also share great respect and admiration for the late musical pioneer Ray Charles.

In February 2009, Nelson and Marsalis joined musical forces for a two-night Jazz at Lincoln Center concert event at New York City's Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center. Their set list explored the legacy of Charles, sequencing the songs to tell the story of a love affair from beginning to end and beyond. The power of this legacy was enhanced by the inclusion of Norah Jones, whose mellow style complements them both. The sold out performance was captured on video, and the resulting footage expertly edited.

This is not the first time Nelson and Marsalis have collaborated. Their joint 2007 appearance at Jazz at Lincoln Center, also sold out, became a popular album. Singer-songwriter and activist Nelson's pioneering musical interests, including founding the "outlaw" country music movement, are in tune with the incredible versatility of composer, trumpeter, conductor and educator Marsalis, whose more than 30 jazz recordings and nearly as many classical recordings have garnered him worldwide recognition and awards. Equally versatile Jones is a singer-songwriter, actor and instrumental musician whose musical styles and genres keep evolving.

All three artists recognize the seminal influence of singer-songwriter Ray Charles, the crossover R&B, country, and pop artist who was the recipient of 17 GRAMMY awards and the subject of the 2004 biopic Ray, starring Jamie Foxx as Charles. Charles played piano, keyboard and alto sax; it was said his voice sounded like a saxophone. His iconic "Georgia On My Mind" was made the official state song of Georgia. Among his honors are induction into the Music Hall of Fame, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Jazz Hall of Fame, Rhythm & Blues Foundation, Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and Kennedy Center Honors.

He duetted "Here We Go Again" in 2004 with Norah Jones, which is among the songs covered in the concert. Willie Nelson, who enjoyed sharing the stage with him, included Charles on his popular "Half Nelson" album. Charles returned the compliment, including Nelson on his multiple award-winning "Genius Loves Company" album released shortly after Charles' death in 2004.

60 Minutes and CBS Evening News correspondent Byron Pitts opens up about his life - how he turned struggle into strength through his faith and overcame impossible odds to achieve enormous success in life.

Throughout Byron�s life a few key people �stepped out on nothing� to make a difference for him, from his mother who worked tirelessly to raise her kids right - while delivering ample amounts of tough love - to his college roommate who helped Byron practice his vocabulary. In Step Out on Nothing, Byron even gives credit to those who didn�t believe in him, like the college professor who labeled him a failure and said he would amount to nothing. By following his steadfast passion for journalism Byron persevered and after fifteen years in local television, he landed a job as a national correspondent for CBS News in 1998. Not bad for a kid who couldn�t read.
Byron Pitts was named a contributor to 60 Minutes and chief national correspondent for CBS News in January 2008. He was one of CBS News' lead reporters during the 9/11 attacks and won a national Emmy award for his coverage. As an embedded reporter covering the Iraq War, he was recognized for his work under fire within minutes of the fall of the Saddam statue. Other major stories covered by Pitts include the Chicago train wreck in 1999, for which he received a national Emmy Award, Hurricane Katrina, the war in Afghanistan, the military buildup in Kuwait, the Elian Gonzalez story, the Florida Presidential recount, and the refugee crisis in Kosovo. He garnered recognition as NABJ Journalist of the Year Award in 2002 for his coverage of the 9/11 attacks and he is also the recipient of four Associated Press Awards as well as six regional Emmy Awards.

Modeling is not judged, however, fancy and overdone modeling can be distracting for the judges as they will be looking for a gorgeous face and personality not modeling ability, overdone modeling can be deducted for in your overall appearance/presentation score.

Age Divisions - 0-18 mths., 19-35 mths., 3-4 yrs., 5-6 yrs., 7-9 yrs., 10 -12 yrs., 13-15 yrs. & 16 -up.
Compete your age as of the day of the pageant.

3 Majestic Supremes - (0-4), (5-9) & (10-up) The Contestant in each of these age divisions with the highest total score of all events will be crowned our Majestic Supreme Queen. The winner will receive a Beautiful Crown, Sash and Gift.

8 Beauty Queens - There will be a Queen and 4 alternates in each age division. The Queen will receive a Beautiful Crown, Sash and Gift. The alternates and all contestants competing will receive a nice award and gift. No one will leave empty handed.
