In the past year I've lost my job, my fiance and most of my friends. I live as a virtual shut-in on a dwindling bit of money I socked away.
I lost the job because my boss decided that between me and his kid he'd rather keep his kid employed.
I love my fiance because she said I was "too sad" after a week of unemployment.
My friends have drifted away as I can barely afford rent let alone going out of the night. Even a night out drinking could mean I'm cutting it close.
I did the math, and even with my budget cut to almost nothing (phone, electicity, rent, CTA pass, ridiculous health insurance) I'm going to be dead broke in 10 months.
There are no jobs out there for anyone with my education or skill-set. My last job paid an emberassing wage actualy, about 20 gran under the national average (with no benefits either, son of a bitch)
Oh and I'm fat and I worry every day I'm going to get sick.
I'm 30, parents are both dead and I'm an only child. I hate all this Christmas garbage now.
I used to love the lights, the trees, the smell of peat fires and warm cider.
Today I'm alone, going to make some really cheap instant stuffing, gravy and have a bit of sparkling wine.
I spent most of last night crying about my lot. I've worked so long and so hard and I've got so little to show for it.
No family, no friends, no work, nothing. I hate this life.
This is my last Christmas. I'm tired of feeling hurt and sick all the time. Of waking up and realizing I've applied for 30 jobs before I've gotten out of bed and only a handful of those will even be botherd to reply. Or feeling exhausted all the time and sad, and tired and scared.
I just want someone to listen, I just want someone to give a damn without me paying for it or begging. I can't seem to get that.

The building wasn't heated? Are you serious? THAT'S your complaint? Dude, you had no food. Heating the building where you get your free food is likely a low priority, and may even HELP contribute to the longevity of the perishables you're receiving. Put things in perspective. To whom it may concern, my name is "insulted customer". I have always enjoyed your store, and the services it provides. However today on 12/22/09 at about 3:30 pm I encountered a problem with a particular store's customer's service, or lack of.
After about 30 minutes of searching for the things I needed to rebuild one of my necklaces, I went to the cashier. There were four other customer's in line behind me."Rude cashier" rang up my items to a total of about $17.00. I began to look for my wallet, after about 30 seconds I excused myself believing it was in my car." Rude cashier" was more than happy to wait for me, and began to announce to the other customers to move into another line because I had to go to my car and get my wallet. She also announced that it was easier to wait for me than it was to get the transaction canceled.
I felt horrible and embarrassed, I hustled to my car, and searched frantically for my wallet, however I soon discovered it was at a previous destination. I walked back in to your store and looked for "Rude cashier", she was no where to be found, another girl came to my assistance. I told her my situation, and told her I would be right back. She was kind enough to hold my items.
About ten minutes later I was walking into the store with wallet in hand ready to make my purchase. I received my items and proceeded to another check out line. "Rude cashier" was speaking to a "young cashier", telling her that's the woman that had to go her car and get her wallet. "Young cashier" rang up my items again, this time the total was about $15.00. I was in shock, She began to tell me that a number of the items I was purchasing were half off. She also told me all cashiers were supposed to look at the sales paper.
"Rude cashier" walked up putting away some return items. I caught her attention and told her that I felt very hurt and embarrassed of her announcement to the other customers of my mistake. She snapped at me and began to talk down to me saying no I never did that your crazy. I told her that my daughter heard her. She gave us ugly looks and stomped away.
"Young cashier" quickly offered to call the manager. The "Spineless manager", came to the front. "Rude cashier" quickly intercepted him and said no one needed him things were taken care of. I watched him walk away, "young cashier" called out to him stating that I wanted to speak to him. "Rude cashier" once again announced loudly in the middle of the store Yeah this customer wants to complain. "Spineless manager" asked what the problem was, so I told him. All he did was nod, then he began to apologize. I told him he should not apologize, it should have been "Rude cashier" made to apologize. I told him all I wanted was to have "Rude cashier" come see me right then and there and apologize for her incredibly rude actions. "Spineless manager" visibly slumped over, walked to"Rude cashier" nodded and walked back. He told me She's busy ringing up customers and I am not going to pull her away from that. I was appalled, I explained That I understood that this was a small issue however I was hurt and embarrassed over the situation. "Spineless manager" began apologizing again, I said this is how you want your customers to be treated, than I am sorry for you. I returned all my items only minutes after I bought them. He even had a girl seemingly come out of nowhere to take my returns.
"Spineless manager" had no back bone to demand that "Rude cashier" come to apologize to me. Instead of defusing the situation he made it loud and clear that he did not care about my feelings and much rather have me leave quickly. Is this how a Christian based store has their staff trained? I drove from Chicago to Westmont to shop at your store. As far as I know it is the closest one to me. Your store was the one that I spent the most time in for my wedding arrangements, church functions, and my personal home.
I hope that you can get this issue solved, starting with a personal apology about the gross disregard of a customers feelings.

Someone had scanned the picture of Todd from America’s Refuse and placed it online as a sort of punchline. Julius wasn’t the first Biloxi native to notice. The picture was forwarded to inboxes across town. Todd was, by then, a supervisor at the newspaper. At his next employee review, the picture surfaced. He didn’t know what to say. He was let go. William was jobless for six months after that.
That picture got featured on Fark.com, then it was all over Internet.
While, at first, the meme could be seen as racist, focusing mainly on black people’s pictures, as one goes along, the catchphrase was used in any situation or picture in which someone got the same kind of stare.

I recently read an article out that defined how this country is controlled by 500 some odd people - our house, senate, judicial & executive branches of government & how their decrees are carried out by bureaucrats operating under the guise of implementing laws enacted by the aforesaid branches of government.
Being just one pretty much powerless individual about all I can do is vote. So given that, I have decided that in the future the only criteria I shall use in casting my vote, is to vote for whoever is not in. That is given candidate A & candidate B, if A is currently in office, I shall vote for B & conversly, if B is in office, I shall vote for A.
I will not consider their party, their philosophy or anything else. I will only vote for the non incumbent.
