Music Business Internship - Start Immediately (Bridgeport )

Fall Internship Positions Available – You can be an Entrepreneurial Ninja in the Music Business – Immediate opening (MUST START NEXT WEEK)

Everyone will want to hire you.

Invisible Records / Tour:Smart is looking for interns. Being our intern is hard work. You’ll be drained at the end of the day. There will be grunt work. BUT, in return, you’ll be working on the front line of everything we do…which is probably not what you think. Our focus is Tour:Smart – And Break the Band, a book written by label owner Martin Atkins. If you don’t know this guy, take a moment for a quick Wikipedia search – he’s done it all, and more. We’re also promoting the release of a new Pigface album (the biggest band on the label).

We’re routing tours, consulting with bands, speaking at conferences, planning seminars, writing blogs, and creating content for all of it. (Did I mention we also produce, direct, and edit documentaries, one of which just won best feature length documentary at CIMM Fest 2009?) In addition to all of that, we have our own recording studio, our own screen printing press, and of course, our record label. Will live and die on D.I.Y. mentality. We will teach you everything we know.

Open positions:
• Editorial / Community intern – write our blogs and develop relationships with other Music Industry 2.0 sites. Make friends with our community members and build our fanbase.
• Promotions intern – lead our street team, promote our events, create crazy marketing stunts that get us in Rolling Stone.
• Organizational guru intern – everything else. Manage our database, maintain processes and documentation, create tour itineraries, manage calendars, and whatever else you can think of! If you like to color code everything and the people at the Container Store know you by name, this is made for you.

The right candidate is:
• Smart, passionate, organized, web-literate, and a self-starter
• Not above grunt work (we’ve all mopped the floors)
• Strong writing and communication skills, fluent in MS Office
• THIS IS AN UNPAID, PART-TIME INTERNSHIP. We can't pay you, but we'd be delighted to help you get college credit.
• We’re looking for fall interns who can dedicate 15-30 hours/week.

What other interns have said:
“I learned more in three days interning at Invisible overhearing Martin's phone conversations than I did in an entire semester of college. – Samantha Dane, Columbia College Chicago.

“[Martin Atkins] prepared me for this industry in a single semester.” – Michelle Cho, PETA

How to apply:
Read about Tour:Smart and Martin Atkins (www.tstouring.com / www.invisiblerecords.com). If you love what we do, send an email with subject line: Internship T121 to HR@invisiblerecords.com. Include your cover letter (address why you want to intern for us) and your resume. Remember, this is an UNPAID INTERNSHIP 15 – 30 hours/week and you must start ASAP.

behindthechair.com is the fastest growing media company in the salon industry, combining the number one portal website in the world for salon professionals trafficked by over 1 million visitors per month and a beauty magazine with a circulation of 100,000 mailed to the top salons across the US/Canada. In 9 years, we've become the most powerful salon media in the US , overtaking magazines that have been in the market for over 75 years. It hasn't been by accident. We have an incredibly dedicated team who knows that sometimes it takes brainstorming on nights and weekends with wine and pizza to make the magic happen and get ahead of the competition. If you're a 9-5 sort of guy or gal and your job is really just that--- a job-- then it's probably best to move onto the next help wanted ad. But, if you want to learn a lot, have a great attitude about being a team player (egomaniacs need not apply) and you love to wear many hats, this could be just the place!

We are in search of a Marketing and/or Editorial Assistant with 1-2 years experience. You’ll be onsite at our new West Chicago office (a newly, renovated 1930’s roller rink- now an open loft with a great view of a lake) working on a smattering of cool projects for our online site, magazines, catalogs and books. You’ll assist our marketing and editorial team with our facebook fan pages, uploading videos into our video channel, running sales and marketing reports, updating our ecommerce beauty store, helping our customer service team and even booking travel when necessary. You’ll work with our senior management team who may sometimes ask you to get coffee (just to test you to see if you’ll roll your eyes!). As for experience, we’d love to see a BS degree with an emphasis on Marketing or Communications, along with strong written skills. If you can see yourself around a table with wine and pizza, thinking about how to make the world a better place (we raised more than $2 million for Katrina victims with our friend Vidal Sassoon) and make money doing it, then shoot your resume off to us and be prepared to interview as fast as you can say, "Wait! Wine and pizza don't go together". Tell us something very interesting about yourself and why you’d be incredibly useful to our strong team.

Gay Porn Reviewer Needed

Is gay porn your thing? Are you down with the 'down and dirty', describing every bump, grind and groan with a discerning eye? We're looking for someone to watch and review gay porn titles for our publications. Reviews will be posted on-line and in print, and (this is the best part), we'll pay you to do it!

This is not a full-time job, nor is it part-time work. You will be reviewing 2-4 films per week of your choice, at home, and receiving per-review compensation. If you're interested, please send a sample review (~500 words - will not be reprinted), keeping the following in mind:

[*] We accept reviews in MSWord, RTF, Text and OpenOffice formats–please do not simply copy/paste your review into an email and send it
[*] Your first paragraph should be a two- to three-sentence summary featuring an overview of the film, any highlights and outstanding actors as well as your overall opinion of the film
[*] Please run spell checking on every review–we all miss something
[*] We do not accept reviews of bareback movies–ever. Check carefully if the film has barebacking before you review.
[*] Fetish and kink videos are acceptable for review (with the exception of the above “no barebacking” rule)
[*] Aim for paragraphs with no more than five or six sentences each
[*] Remember that our audience is broad in its tastes. A reviewer may not care for specific body types or acts, but should write from a more general perspective.
[*] Provide a good, general description of actors: body type, age range, active/passive role, level of credibility, etc.
[*] Be specific in your criticism; if you like/dislike some aspect of the film, state your reasons rather than simply saying what you liked/disliked
[*] Discuss production values (quality of lighting, sets, location, et al.) to the extent you’re comfortable

Please send your sample review and tell us a little about yourself to the Craigslist email. If you would like to see our Reviewer Guidelines, you can download the PDF from our website at [http://www.bijouworld.com/downloads/newsletters/revguidelines_082008.pdf] Happy ending!
