Chicago Sports Fans - Earn money blogging about your favorite teams (Chicago)

I’m looking for passionate Chicago sports fans who want to earn money blogging about the White Sox, Cubs, Bulls, Bears, and Black Hawks or any NFL, MLB, NBA, or NHL team.

I run a network of community sports sites and I need good writers who have strong, interesting opinions about sports and can put those opinions into words. I have a site for every team in the NBA, NHL, NFL, and MLB as well as tennis, golf, and Nascar, so if you’re a fan of any of those teams / sports and want to write about them this might be the perfect opportunity for you – it doesn’t have to be just about Chicago sports but should be about a team / sport that you know very well.

If you have a short sample of your writing please paste it into your email response. It can be about Chicago sports or not. I just want to see a short excerpt of your writing to get a feel for your writing style. Please keep the writing sample as short as possible – less than 200 words.

You can work from home, or the local coffee shop, or your biology class, or anywhere you like. This project is perfect for students or anyone who wants to make a little extra cash doing something fun in their spare time.

Healthy Schools Campaign is committed to diversity and equal opportunity and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, disability or sexual orientation. People of color, women and individuals of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Position:
The Healthy Schools Campaign is seeking a part-time Writer & Communications Specialist to work approximately 10 hours per week to support the organization’s development and external communications efforts. The individual will research, write and edit grant proposals, reports, electronic newsletters, web content and other materials for audiences including foundations, government agencies, corporations, community advocates, parents and individuals working in schools. This individual must be a strong communicator who is able to write in a variety of styles for different audiences.

Background:
The Healthy Schools Campaign, a vibrant and growing not for profit organization dedicated to making schools healthier places in which to learn and work, is an increasingly powerful voice for people who care about our environment, our children, and education. Since its inception, the Healthy Schools Campaign (HSC) has become a leader in addressing issues of environmental health and wellness, particularly in connection to the growing crises of childhood obesity and asthma.

HSC believes that all stakeholders—including teachers, students, parents, administrators and school nurses—must have a voice in decisions that affect the school environment. HSC’s ability to effectively articulate its mission, vision and program activities is crucial to the advancement of the organization’s policy platform and its success in engaging a broad base of individuals in these efforts. In addition, HSC must regularly report to the foundations, corporations and government agencies that support the organization’s work.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree. Very strong writing skills and at least two years of post-college experience demonstrating those skills in a professional environment are required. Computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, internet fluency) required. Because much of HSC’s communication is distributed electronically, the writer should be comfortable with basic HTML and conventions of online communication. Demonstrated interest in public health, environmental health, health promotion, school health or education is a plus. Design skills and familiarity with graphics software (particularly Adobe Creative Suite) also a plus. Writer may work at HSC’s Chicago Loop office or at a home office, and must be available for regular meetings at the HSC office during normal business hours.

Compensation:
Hourly rate is $20 to $25 depending on experience. (Please note—this pay range is firm.) This position is permanent part-time and qualifies for pro-rated paid vacation and sick leave after three months. HSC contributes to an employee pension plan through employer matching contributions after one year.

To Apply:
Please send a resume, cover letter, two writing samples (up to three pages each) and at least two references to tara@healthyschoolscampaign.org. No phone calls please. Applications will be accepted through May 30, 2008 or until position is filled.

The Internship Program at Imagination Publishing

Imagination seeks editorial interns. Our summer internship program is open to college upperclassmen, recent college graduates and graduate students. It will last approximately 12 weeks (with an open to continue for a second semester) and we provide a transportation stipend along with a weekly meal allowance.

As an intern you’ll get a chance to gain firsthand insight into the creative and business side of the publishing process by working with – and learning from – our 50 talent staffers. You won’t fetch anyone’s coffee but your own.

One of the best things about working here is variety – we have projects and publications in markedly different subject areas, so you’ll be able to explore different topics and audiences. Regular guidance and feedback is built into the internship. Halfway through your time here, you will receive a review to help you identify areas of strength and ways you can grow.

At Imagination, we are passionate about delivering innovative and quality work to our customers. We work hard, and we’re proud of what we create. But we also like to relax and celebrate our accomplishments. Whenever our new business development lands a new account, our president bangs a gong and we grab our champagne glasses and head to the conference room for some bubbly. Throughout the year, we go to baseball games, walk for charity, work out in our private on-site gym, and throw the best annual holiday party in the West Loop.

We know how to work together and how to play together; it’s obvious that there is an energy and camaraderie here that makes us a cohesive team. We hope that you’ll explore internship opportunities with Imagination. After all, how many offices do you know of that have a gong in their foyer?
