Finance & Operations Manager – Construction Companies (In-Person, Chicago Northside)
We operate a group of construction companies operating across residential and commercial projects in Chicago. We’re growing quickly and looking for a Finance & Operations Manager to take real ownership of the back office, financial systems, and day-to-day operational coordination.
This is not an Executive Assistant role.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who wants responsibility, trust, and impact.
Who This Role Is For
You are organized.
You like clean books, clear systems, and knowing exactly where the money is going.
You are comfortable working directly with ownership and holding things together across multiple entities.
If you’ve worked in construction, property management, trades, or multi-entity small businesses, that’s a big plus.
Core Responsibilities
Finance & Accounting
Own QuickBooks across multiple companies (AP/AR, invoicing, deposits, bill pay)
Manage payroll processing
Produce monthly reports and budgeting
Track job costs, expenses, and profitability by project
Maintain clean, accurate financial records
Operations & Systems
Help implement and maintain systems (CRM, financial software (QB and QBO), workflows)
Draft, track, and manage contracts
Track insurance policies, COIs, and compliance requirements
Log jobs and expenses accurately
Assist with scheduling jobs and coordinating crews as needed
People & Admin
Support hiring, onboarding, and basic HR administration
Attend meetings for note-taking, follow-ups, and client requests
Provide email support (incoming and outgoing)
Support the team with critical business tasks (and occasional personal tasks)
Requirements
3+ years of relevant experience (construction or similar industry preferred)
Strong QuickBooks experience (or proven ability to learn quickly)
Highly organized with extreme attention to detail
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Docs/Sheets
Authorized to work in the United States
Position Details
Full-Time, In-Person (Chicago Northside)
Pay: $35–$40/hour, depending on experience
