*Paul McCobb was a modern furniture and industrial designer. He was completely self-taught with regards to design and his furniture became known for it’s functionality and approachability. Perspective and scale became trademarks for McCobb, along with thin lines, simplicity of form and a distinct lightness. He was a realist and a perfectionist and his design pieces are a clear reflection of his personality. McCobb died in 1969 at the age of 52.
*Richard E. Ladeau founded today’s Winchendon Furniture in 1939, as Winchendon Custom Upholstery Company Inc. As the years passed, the company decided to offer quality brand name furniture, rather than manufacture and restore existing pieces. During the next thirty years, the company made a gradual and complete transition into retail. It is now run by Richard’s grandsons, the third generation in the family and have showrooms in Winchendon, Massachusetts and Keene, New Hampshire. They continue to produce quality furniture to this day.

Cream laminate top (no worries over spills) has a pull up mirror and space underneath for your cosmetics. Two drawers on each side. When mirror is down, looks like three drawers. The best art deco desk ever! Beautiful rosewood has a mirror finish. Right side of desk protrudes from the front by 6”. It has four drawers on the right side plus two drawers on the left side and center. Left side has two bookshelves on the side. All original silver plated metal hexagonal bar pulls (tarnished). Recessed base with wide trim on the bottom. White leather insert in center of desktop with silver border. Desk locks and has keys. Purchased from Dany Art Deco in Paris, France. *Russel Wright was an American Industrial designer best known for his iconic, American Modern ceramic dinnerware. His impact on the mid-century American home was palpable from his furniture design to accessories and textiles. His most popular line of American Modern “blonde” wooden furniture was produced by the Conant Ball company of Gardner, Massachusetts.
*The Conant Ball Furniture company was founded in the late 1800s in Gardner, Massachusetts, specializing in wooden Colonial furniture reproductions and cane seat chairs. Russel Wright designed some of their most popular items in the American Modern style and these pieces are considered rare and notable. The Conant Ball Furniture Company closed in 1980.
